Help!

I can't seem to find my exact problem described anywhere. I live in West Africa with no access to an Apple store or official reseller, so any advice is MUCH appreciated!

1. Updated iPhone 4 to iOS7. No problems with handling. Sound seems to come and go, often resulting in alarm being silent and me oversleeping :( No problems with ear buds, only speakers on the phone itself.

2. Upgraded to 7.0.2. Now the screen freezes ALL THE TIME (i.e. becomes unresponsive to touch. The home button still works). Once I activate the phone I can use it between 1 and 30 seconds before it freezes again. When it freezes, I press the power button to lock it, then the home screen to unlock it and I can then use it again for a few seconds. So basically I cannot hang up on a call, doing anything on the phone is next to impossible, and I cannot play ANY games of course. The problem is in all modes: On wi-fi, 3G and in flight mode. (I am not sure if the sound problem is still there)

3. I tried a clean install; a reinstall; turned off iCloud documents; restored factory settings; deleted most of the apps. Nothing seems to work :(

Any ideas??
Thanks for your time

Hi! First of all, sorry to hear about your issues... I don't really have a solution, but you could restore to 7.0.0 and see if the problems are fixed.. You can download the firmware (http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/), do DFU restore, and choose yourself which file to use rather than 7.0.2...
Hope it helps..

So....

Does 7.0.3 improve iPhone 4 performance? It is intriguing that the reduce motion setting has been changed. Fingers crossed.

Please report your experiences here.

I can't wait to hear. Big improvements on my iPad 3. :-D

Alright, its installed and running on my iPhone 4 and iPad Mini.
And i gotta say its really really improved, its noticeable and iPhone 4 has reduce motion setting in accessibility for the new animations. I say go for it

Out of interest, where are you to be getting 7.0.3?

Just downloaded 7.0.3 on my iP4.

+ Animations are a lot faster. I did a test of unlocking the phone, going into Music.app and skipping an already playing song, and I think it's about ⅓ faster at least, since the icons don't need to fly in and the app doesn't need to zoom up.

+ Spotlight pulldown is now smooth(er), and you can search Wikipedia or the internet from there again (it was sorely missed by me, since launching Safari pre-7.0.3 was slow as hell)

+ I tested the response time of a rather slow loading app, Agenda Calendar 4, and from cold launch, it would before become responsive after 11 seconds. This has now been reduced to 8, and the animations in the app is much smoother.

+ The lock screen camera shortcut now always registers my finger.

+ Keyboard seems snappier and more responsive in almost all apps.

I can agree with this.

Thanks for the info! My mum will be glad with this.

I think my 4 is now smoother on 7.0.3, especially the new fade animation and browsing through pages on springboard seems faster.

Is this new? [7.0.3][talking about the setting wallpaper popup]

I didn't like the initial reports about iOS 7 performance on an iPhone 4, so I've stuck with iOS 6 without any problems, but...

Given the improvements in iOS 7.0.3, would you say it's worth updating the iPhone 4 to iOS 7 now or still better to stay on iOS 6 for the present?

I'd say try it, but *save your blobs* using snowbreeze or ifaith so you can downgrade back to 6 if you think that 7.0.3 is not for you.

If the above sentence made no sense for you, look for assistance in the hacks and jailbreak subforum.

Personally, I think that the performance we are seeing with 7.0.3 on the i4 is good enough.

For all of you who are saying its better on the 7, can you confirm how many apps you have and the space used up?

Personally, the iOS 7.0.3 update made my home button going unresponsive randomly : system boots (sometimes freezes the bootscreen then turning black AND reappearing with the correct "locked sim" notification), then 4 attempts later, the home button is silent.

Physically, it is in excellent shape, compared to others iPhones (4) I have seen…

Any idea ?

I'm having around 50 apps installed, including Apple's. I've around 6GB free of 16. Music and photos account for roughly 5GB.

By the way, is it only me, or does 7.0.3 leave more memory for apps, letting more room for them to stay in memory? It seems like it. Apps seem to be still alive a lot more often when I switch back to them. They seemed to having to start up all the time with 7.0.2...

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like it's still best to stay on iOS6 for the present.

However, it's totally annoying to see all my phone's free space taken up by the iOS 7 files I don't plan to install, and constant badges on my App Store for app updates that are iOS 7 only. Oh well...
