Ok so when you say fresh install meaning do a set up as new phone then not restore from backup? I did that the last time I had an issue around this where I just started brand new only synced my contacts that was it. The thought of starting from scratch again makes me very cranky.

I'd do a clean install via iTunes and then backup from iCloud. See how you get on with that.

My battery life has suffered BIGTIME from 8.1.1 to 8.1.2

Been through a few cycles.....right now I have 4 hours of usage and I am at 40 percent. Almost always on 8.1 and earlier, when at 40 percent I would have been 6-7 hours usage. This is a HUGE decrease...we're talking hours lost here. On average, I used to always get 9.5 to 10.5 usage draining it completely. Last couple charged on he new iOS I've gotten 7.5 to 8 hours usage. Terrible

Interesting to read that people still believe this......

Tuesday: I updated iOS to 8.1.2

Wednesday:

6:30AM: Took iPhone off charger at 100% charge
7:15AM: Left for work and listened to music via bluetooth
8:00AM: arrived at work, Battery indicator showing 87%
11:00AM: lunch time, battery at 76% (I listen to music at my desk also with bluetooth headphones).

This morning:

6:30AM: took iPhone off charger at 100% charge
7:15AM: left for work with same routine as above.
8:00AM: arrived at work, Battery indicator at 98%

My routine is the same every single day. Now explain to me why the variation on the battery percentage indicator is so much more different from one day to another when the usage is exactly the same.

It is now 10:42AM and my battery is at 93% (was showing 76% at this time yesterday).

It's not a "myth" or "belief". It's a conclusion based on observation.

Might have some app or service that went into a weird state, as occasionally can happen. Have you tried restarting just in case to terminate some stuck process or something else along those lines?

Exactly this, have you check diagnostic logs to see if there is a misbehaving app? A client of mines iPhone dropped at an alarming rate and it turned out the apple mail app was going nuts! Had to reset and start over updating iOS in the process!

I can't remember exactly where I read it, but I'm sure it was somewhere on these forums. A member had suggested to execute the following steps in preparation for updating iOS to ensure a smooth transition if you opt to use OTA updates.

1. Exit out every single app.
2. Sign out of iMessage and Facetime.
3. Turn the phone off.
4. Turn the phone back on.
5. Update the phone via Settings > Update.
6. Once the update is finished, turn the phone off.
7. Turn it back on.
8. Sign back into iMessage and Facetime.

After following these steps, I've experienced no substantial loss in battery life like those from previous updates. My guess as to why this works is that sometimes an app will run amok causing significant CPU usage diminishing the battery life. Resetting the app and launching a clean process after the update somehow fixes its run state.

I'm curious to see if this helps any of you out there.

Yah well I am going to wipe the phone then install a fresh OS. Something is defiantly not right. Showing pandora using 69%. Never did that before

I updated my 6 Tuesday night. It significantly drained faster than usual Wednesday. Charged again last night and seems to be back to normal today. Strange!?!

No, that can be normal after iOS updates. Sometimes Spotlight needs to reindex, etc.

My signal strength is worse since 8.1.2 and I'm wondering if that's why I'm 1-2 hours down on runtime this charge cycle? I'm peeved that my 4 day old 6+ is already being being compromised by buggy iOS updates!
The o/s is definitely less buggy, but my battery life has been shortened without a shadow of doubt.

Launch Day IP6 is still on iOS 8.0, new IP6 I got this week I've updated it to iOS 8.1.2 and seems to be good on batt life, but it is a brand new device.

Wanted to update the launch day IP6, but reading this thread I'm gonna hold off.

Where exactly did you see anything in that entire article about how a battery acts after an iOS update? There is nothing stated there to support your claim.
No, but you do know there are many lies on the internet right?
The links you posted, I could easily make a website saying the complete opposite and quote that.

There is probably nothing wrong with the battery, just an app that is draining it. Plus, if you're looking for a problem, you will probably find one.

I believe the local weather can also affect battery life...

Seen this many times. The only thing I can think of is cellular coverage has a part to play. I've notice even when sitting at the same place during working hours that cell signals fluctuate at times and this causes more battery usage.

Updated last night new phone

Why are these so high? Mail is on 30 min fetch and have barely used the phone since off the charger this morning. I'm running 8.1.2 on 6+ Please help thank you.

Did you do the update ota or via? If you did ota restore your phone via iTunes see if that helps.

3hrs 32mins of usage for only 4% battery drain?? That's insanely good! If you haven't used the phone then something is amiss. Try a hard reset.

What is considered a hard reset? The home and power button hold down way? Thanks

I'm getting the same kind of battery life with my 6+ on 8.1.2 that a colleague is getting on their i6 with 8.1.1
We've just done a comparison over a 10% battery drop, running the same app and same background settings etc. Not happy!

My battery life has improved since 8.1.2.

Which device?
My 6+ battery has turned into a regular i6 battery now. I'm really annoyed because the battery life was phenomenal until installing 8.1.2
There's nothing wrong with the install, the phone doesn't get hot and there are no apps hogging battery in my usage data which shouldn't be there. The install is fine, it's the iOS update that isn't. I would be interested in hearing from other 6+ owners regarding battery life with iOS 8.1.2 because my percentage meter is dropping much faster than usual.
