I've also noticed a definite drop in battery since this update. So bad that I did a complete restore. That didn't help either. I did both a hard and soft restart, still with no luck. How do I get back to install 8.1.1???? Now that I have 8.1.2 I don't know how to go back.

Which device do you have? I can't answer your question but I'm curious for which devices this update worsens the battery life. I've seen some posters claim better battery life, but with my 6+ it is most certainly worse.

That's good then, at least the problem doesn't appear to be device specific. That way Apple are more likely to fix it!

Same here with the 6. Battery like night and day with 8.2 b2 and 8.1.1 compared to 8.1.2. Apple messed up again obviously. I'm thinking 8.1.3 is up in short order. 8.1.2 has a huge battery bug.

Apple's in-house testing appears to be non-functional again.
Having said that, I've seen some posts (less than half it must be said) where people are claiming better battery life from 8.1.2

Did you go back to 8.1.1 or 8.2 b2? If so, how do you go back? And, sorry for newbie question, what is 8.2 b2?

Just download the files and dfu to the file through iTunes using the option key to select whatever version that you downloaded. If you are not a dev then just go back to 8.1.1. That will fix your battery issues.

Can you say that in layman terms? If I download iOS onto my pc through iTunes, it will install the latest version again. How do we install 8.1.1 when no 'blobs' etc are present? Thanks.

Yes, I apologize, but I don't know how to download and install 8.1.1. I tried the option key and nothing appears different or offers the version I need. So sorry for the annoyance but if you can explain how to download and install the older version I'd appreciate it.

If you think it's too difficult or involved to explain, then just let me know. No offense taken.

I thought my battery life was downgraded by 8.1.2, but after further consideration I realized I'm using it more. I could go 2 days without needing a charge on 8.0.2, but now I'm playing more music and using it at the gym with BT earbuds.

Not a problem. Just google it and that will probably be better than me writing it here. It's not hard, you will get it after a little reading.

Mine is definitely worse. I noticed it instantly. Just web browsing and the battery meter is falling much quicker than before.

Your observation does not make what you said a fact. We don't know what you have running in the background. Its not an established fact that batteries need to settle after an update.

I follow your logic but this happens every iOS update. The battery percentage indicator is off for a couple of days s d then it straightens itself out. I'm not talking about the physical battery just the gauge.

I found out how to revert back. Once I complete the downloading of the 8.1.1 file, the only question I have is do you recommend clicking the option button on the "Click Update" tab or the "Restore" tab? It says it'll work faster by clicking on the Click update tab but it also says if I want to do the revert "by the book" then I should click the option button on the Restore tab, but I have to make sure I have a current backup (which I do).

What do you think Mr Grant???

Forgive me, I just noticed that I presupposed that I was speaking to a man, ie Mr Grant. I apologize as I'm not sure why I chose that term as it could be a Ms Grant. Sorry about that. An honest mistake. Thanks for your help.

Without having iTunes in front of me I believe that you click restore while holding down the option key. Then select the 8.1.1 that you downloaded.

I used the opt key and clicked on "Check for Update" and started the download from there. Took about 10 min and I was back on 8.1.1. I'm now juiced up and going to keep an eye on battery to see if it helped. If prob still exists, I'll do the download using the "Restore" tab, which is just a complete restore so it'll take a few hours to wipe and reinstall 8.1.1 from scratch. I'll let you all know if my battery is back to normal.

Ok so when you say fresh install meaning do a set up as new phone then not restore from backup? I did that the last time I had an issue around this where I just started brand new only synced my contacts that was it. The thought of starting from scratch again makes me very cranky.

If you restore from backup, you may end up restoring the issue that caused the battery drain.

Is anyone getting worse battery life on their iPad with 8.1.2 as well?

I am getting ready to restore my IP6 back to 8.1.1, and I haven't used my Air 2 much in the last few days so I am curious if I should roll back that as well.
