iOS 8.1 restored iOS 7.x-like performance on my iPhone 5s. It has the same A7 chip as your Mac mini. I'd do a restore and start fresh if I were you. Maybe there's something in your backup that's causing issues.

Did it? Doesn't the weather app still lag when you switch between the list view and the detailed view? It drops frames on two of my 5S's. Unbelievable.
Very happy with this update even on my two year old iPhone 5. Much better than 8.0.2 and even 8.1b2. Animations are smoother, keyboard bugs seem to be gone (or at least SwiftKey comes up faster during quick reply and other activities), and the only lag I notice is when scrolling very fast on the multitasking switcher. Almost as good as 7.1.2.
It was not available for everyone in settings when 8.0 was released. Than with 8.0.2 everyone had the option available in settings but some users could not turn it on. When I tried enabling it on my iPhone it basically said "we are testing/improving, please come back later"
Now with 8.1 you can enable it and it will work for everyone as expected. It's in public beta now whereas before I guess it was for iOS 8 beta testers and developers.

That folder is still available. You first have to mark a picture as favourite (with the heart) for the folder to show up in albums. It was like this with 8.0 as well

Apple for some reason are neglecting iPads and everyone with an iPad seems to be suffering this problem.
I figured out this cellular toggle issue on Verizon. It has a button for Enable LTE. If you toggle this off, you will be on 3G. I tried it and it works. So just because there is no toggle for 3G doesn't mean it won't do it. You just have to toggle off LTE to go into 3G

That's pretty much always been there. I think some people are looking for a way to even have control over 3G so they could go down to 2G (or 1x in case of Verizon or CDMA networks in general).
I'm seriously happy that I have no more extremely annoying rotation bugs on my 5s in particular and my wifi on the iPad air now has its Lexus style reliability back connecting and switching to the 3 airports at home when it's been an absolute triumph stag for the past month. iPad safari similarly!
The photo one? Still here in my photo library. Both the ability to favourite (heart) photos and the automatic album created for them.
Why anyone would want to go down to 2G is beyond me...good lord lol. But ok I guess everyone has their own way of doing things.
anybody having problems with wifi after the update.. my iphone 6 plus cant find any of my 5ghz network and the only way to connect to them is if i do it manually. Also my speeds are eratic and a lot slower

Did I just clean my glasses differently today, I think I am getting better contract and colors on the wallpapers on my 5 and 5s,
Earlier I was able to make out little bit of dullness when compared with 6 devices; Today somehow they all seem to look equally brilliant ..

If anyone cares, it still doesn't work. 0 plays still equates to play count being increased by 10 or more.
Why don't you just go to Apple's website and read Handoff and Instant Hotspot requirements?
