Don't get too excited! I have iPad mini 2 with iOS 8.3 public beta 2, and the performance might be slightly better, but it is still laggy. There are still choppy animations for keyboard pop-up when opening spotlight, changing orientation in spotlight, safari favourite menu scrolling lag, and occational lag when exiting apps. Apple didn't fix much animation glitch for iPads yet. I think we might have to wait till iOS 9.

Lets hope it comes in iOS 9....

I bought an iPad Mini 2, to upgrade my iPad tutorial business and honestly, iOS 8 is freaking glitchy and buggy...My iPad 2 glitches less (but has more jerkiness).

iPad 3 lags a lot, a little better than previous versions of iOS 8, yet not I would call "OK" performance, Apple really should've let iPad 3 stayed on iOS 6 IMO.

I second that, iOS 7 was at least bearable on the iPad 3 but now it's such a mess - reloading tabs, crashing apps and Springboard. One of the main reasons to use the iPad - Safari - is much slower to load web pages and the keyboard lags like a sloth. This hasn't changed in iOS 8.3. I've already sent a few reports of crashes - two of them Safari with two open tabs... If I had the means for a new one, I would eBay the iPad and never look back.

On the other hand my 6 plus and 5 are pretty great on iOS 8.3 and are as quick and reliable as they should have been since the beginning.

iOS 7 sucked so much on iPads all the way till 7.1., it's not even comparable to ios 8. Short term memory?
You forgot about
1) constant Safari crashes
2) constant iTunes store crashes especially in landscape
3) it was so slow till 7.1, like 50%-60% slower than ios 6 and 8
4) memory issues where much more severe in 7.0
5) frequent springboard crashes
6) Imessage bug until 7.0.3
7) accelerometer calibration issues
8) system freezing issues
9) did I mention slow
10 oh and slow
11) and finally it was so damn slow

;)

It's true that iOS7 was dreadful and for me, that was the case right up until 7.1.2
However, just when they managed to get iOS7 more or less running correctly (still a few bugs), Apple brought out iOS8.

The combination of iOS8 and the iPhone 6+ is a shocker. Anything to do with web browsing - and on any browser - just plain sucks. As web browsing is the no.1 thing I do on my phone by a country mile, it's yet another disappointment after having most of my iPhone 5 (and iOS7) ownership spoiled by disappointment. For me, this phone on this o/s is even worse.

What specifically is a shocker?
I got a 6 and an iPad air 2 and I don't have any safari issues apart from the occasional blank page till I start scrolling which is a weird ios 8 thing. I hear that 8.3 fixed the safari white issue in landscape but again that's hardly a severe problem but rather cosmetic.

The near constant spinning data wheel and tab reloading.
If I use other browsers which don't have the irritating data wheel bug, such as Opera Coast or Chrome, they crash all the time. No browser works properly!

Something seems wrong as usual it would seem. Other browsers don't crash that much and the spinning wheel in Safari is only there sometimes and even if it's there it's hardly irritating really as it hasn't been shown to be linked to anything actually going wrong.

Opera Coast has crashed for me ever since iOS8, and it has had two or three updates since. Chrome crashes too. Neither have the annoying spinning data wheel that Safari has. Sure that isn't a dealbreaker but I hate bugs and can't help but think it is draining my battery unnecessarily with some process.
Opera and Chrome crash for me every time I use them. Sure not every page every minute, but at some point during a typical 15-20 minute browsing session they will crash on me. The reviews for both in the App store suggest that others are suffering the same issues.

My phone gets clean installs every time and I don't do anything especially taxing. I take calls, send SMS and for the most part I web browse. Massively. Now if my phone can't handle that without freezing, crashing and displaying other less troublesome bugs, then it's not fit for purpose. Nobody with an i6 seems to be voicing these concerns and the only people I do see with similar issues have a 6+. Even then, they appear to be very much in the minority. My phone is fine according to Apple so where does that leave me? The vast majority of my issues are experienced whilst web browsing. This comprises mainly of newspaper sites, forums, Facebook and general Googling. I use my phone for very little else.

How about listing 10 bugs right now? Go

In no particular order:

1) Screen freezing
2) Tab & app reloading/refreshing
3) Spinning data wheel in Safari
4) App crashes
5) Calendar alerts flashing up & then immediately vanishing without me cancelling or snoozing them
6) Landscape/portrait issues
7) Copy & paste in Safari
8) Losing WiFi connection when the signal is weak & then my phone requiring me to reconnect manually despite the network being available
9) Random screen dimming
10) Control centre and Notification centre disappearing on occasion

Yeah, with all the bellyaching about iOS 8, people seem to have developed amnesia about the early versions of iOS 7. I bought my 5s at launch, and remember the frequent app crashing (Safari was especially crash-prone), resprings, and the occasional "white screen of death." These were very frequently reported issues, and IMO more serious than what I see being reported about iOS 8.

Since updating to iOS 8 in September, I've had exactly one random reset, and I cannot remember the last time I had an app or Safari crash. The only nagging issue I had was not hearing Bluetooth calls until after the call connected. iOS 8.2 fixed that issue. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's at least as stable and fast as any version of iOS 7.

-Weather app lag
-Copy paste bug
-Tab reloading
-Slow rotation
-Black screen during boot
-Battery percentage skipping
-Spotlight not working
-Lag when opening apps
-Animations skipping frames
-General poor performance
-Wifi and Bluetooth problems

Some of these things are small issues but they still bring the overall experience down.

I want iOS 8.3 so badly for my Plus, but for some reason even though I'm in the Yosemite Beta Program I haven't been invited to the iOS one yet.

I stopped reading at tab reloading. You know how ios works? It's been like this since multitasking was introduced. There is this thing called Ram and ios devices are a bit short on it.

I have never ever seen 8 of these issues. The only one is the landscape bug which is mostly fixed and the occasional spinning wheel.
Also tab reloading as I mentioned above, you know what ram is. iOS did this since multitasking was introduced.

Yeah people have short term memories. I am enjoying 8 a lot more than I did 7.0, that's for sure.

Ultimately it's more that people can and do actually have different experiences with their particular devices and what they do on them.

Exactly, I'm not pretending these issue don't exist. However I am also not pretending that everyone has these issues like people make you believe in this forum. I can't take people serious that claim ios 7 until 7.1 (6 month after release) was better than 8, that's laughable. I rather take a spinning safari wheel than safari actually crashing every 2 min or taking 50% longer to open.

Some do seem to make it look like things are widespread, while others not as much. But in the end, there are definitely bugs, some of which do apply to everyone, others not as much, just as some of which are fairly small issues (but bugs nonetheless), while others not as small (at least certainly for some).

Yes. I normally consider bugs that effect everybody and can easily be reproduced, like the folder corner glitch, map unit settings cannot be changed on iPads (ios 7 bug), bluettoth issues, weather app lag etc. However than some of them are really only cosmetic and not serious bugs.
Half the issue people mention here I have never seen in my life so I wonder what they do. If my mum can upgrade here ipad 3 to ios 8 and not have a single issue (she has more apps than me) than I do not understand why people on this forum do. Believe me, she was first to call me why ios 7 is so slow.
Same for the wifi issues, I bet half the people that do have them use a router from the 90s. Somebody just mentioned notification and control centre sometimes disappearing, I have never seen or heard about this bug.
They also than tend to talk down on people and say they use their device in a more advanced manner, whatever that means. Probably like I got 200 apps I must be an adanced user. LOL

That isn't the tab reloading I was talking about, I'm talking about the "A problem occurred with this webpage so it was reloaded." one. Every page on this site has to reload on my phone before I can actually interact with it.

Yeah I was thinking about this, sry. It's just people keep talking about the actual tab reloading.
I have seen the problem you mentioned a few times, I get it mainly when I try to autofill from keychain, ironically normally only this forum :D

I installed the latest beta and it feels like the most refined version of iOS since iOS 6.
