Been happening on my iPhone 6 since updating to iOS 8.3. There's a ton of "jetsam" events crash logs in the diagnostics section. Any way to pinpoint which app is causing this?

i think it's not ''app related'' definitely ''firmware related'' issue.

updated to 8.4 beta 3 and restored as a new device both my 5s and mini 2 retina.. no more reboots since 1 week.

iOS 8.3 Random Reboots

I agree. This thing was crash proof until iOS 8.3 came along.

I did notice out of all the "jetsam" crash logs that Facebook was the "largest process" then "springboard".

This has never happened to my 5S.

I updated 11 apps yesterday. And I also played game during the update, and opened app switcher to go back and forth between Safari and the game. No crash, no reboot. My phone was fine.

For those experiencing reboots, Do you have automatic update enabled?

Auto updates are disabled for me.

Thanks for quick reply. We can rule out one possible solution.

I must be doing something that is preventing this issue... Fortunately, some clear patterns seem to trigger the issue, so hopefully Apple recognizes this

Couple of add-ins.....
I have daily Jetsam events in D&U.
I don't have Facebook
I have a 6+ 64gb AT&T

Seeing a lot of similar but not as pervasive behavior on my Mini 2 atm.
iPad Mini Retina 32GB LTE

Agree - gotta be the firmware.

The only time I experience random reboots is when I listen to a specific album in the Music app.

Not sure if the album has some corrupted data attached somewhere in the file, but every time I hear it, phone lags out and crashes

I experienced this last week.

The I had forgotten that I had left LTE on my phone in the office (which has poor reception). It drained my battery, so I had plugged the phone in to charge it (using OEM lighting/charger).

The phone eventually got really warm (a little warmer than usual, but nothing out of the ordinary), and I wanted to use my phone again. For the next two/three hours, the phone remained extremely warm to the touch, and would consistently stutter, lag, and eventually reboot. I would use something simply like Safari or Alien Blue, and out of nowhere would the white screen come on with the black Apple logo. However, it was not a complete restart since it did not force me to use my passcode. Touch ID was good enough.

I got a bit concerned with the temperature of the phone, so I had it zip locked and air sealed, and left it in the fridge for a few moments for it to cool down. I did a hard reset and it turned out fine since.

This problem hasn't happened since.

i only experience this when i'm updating my apps on the app store..otherwise no issues.

maybe a general issue in 8.3 for the App Store

I'm pretty sure it only happens when updating apps for me too (auto update enabled) and I've seen it on both my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5s. Seems to happen once or twice a week. iOS 8.2 was rock solid.

Today my iPhone 5s became completely unresponsive. The screen wouldn't turn on and I had to do a hard reset (home and lock). I don't know if that's related or not.

Edit: just happened on my iPad Air 2 while updating apps again.

i read another threads and same complains from other users..and i'm sure it's definitely an iOS 8.3 bug.. hopefully it'll be fixed in 8.4..in this time, there is nothing much we can do about.

While I'm certainly no apologist, I've had way less crashes with 8.3 than any previous iteration of iOS8. Way less, practically zero.
The latest Facebook app has reviews saying that it crashes...so it's the app. I use my phone a TON and have had one springboard crash since installing 8.3
The only app crashes I have are Safari with its 'the page had to reload' message. This happens often and is infuriating. Web browsing with iOS8 is lousy compared to previous versions of iOS.
Oh and I experience zero issues when updating apps. I do it manually though so am unsure if this is the reason.

I've been in contact with Apple's bug report team and they had me upload the device logs, but it appears this crash is never logged since they can never find the crash anywhere in the logs. As such I don't have much hope that it gets fixed for iOS 8.4, unless they do so accidentally.

One thing I noticed is that app updates appear to download all at once under iOS 8.3. Previously it would download and install 3 apps at a time. Now it downloads all apps at the same time.

I just had one as well also by using the home button.

After investigating a bit, it's not really a real reboot so there won't be much on the diagnostic logs.

The SpringBoard process just leaks more than it usually does and iOS kills it because it's using too much memory.

You should see a whole bunch of JetsamEvent logs around that time and if you open them, SpringBoard should be the largest process.

Same problem as I have been experiencing on my iPhone 6 plus 128gb. Random respring and happens most often when i switch between apps. Diagnostic log shows jetsamevents and springboard being the largest process. There has been many reports of this (see this other macrumour thread). I was going to book a genius appointment for possible replacement but now I am beginning to believe it is a software issue as its not just 6 Plus users who are experiencing this.

Hmm, this has been happening to me for the last four or five days. Presumably an app update has caused it because 8.3 was ok in terms of springboard crashes prior to this.

Now every single day I have two, sometimes three resprings. I haven't been able to log my usage data for almost a week now as every time a springboard crash occurs my usage logs go blank. This is most frustrating! It just happened to me whilst opening the stock Notes app, but usually it's doing something in Safari. Noteably, always a stock app...

Out of the blue in the last week my phone has been respringing randomly, and this is happening to my friends as well, really odd and I'm confused what could be causing this, and Apple haven't said anything?

Can this be related to memory? Somehow a bad app might be leaking memory in the background and causing springboard reboots? Any developers here know about this?
