theory is the same as blue screen..random respring..but that's a different issue, springboard crash (apple logo) is a mainly memory leak issue i think..blue screen issue is about that carrier sw issue. mine is Turkcell and software is 19.6 (8.4 b4) i don't have a blue screen issue (hallelujah) but springboard crashes occur

8.4 has been released. There's nothing in the release notes about fixing this problem.

Apple have never admitted to the problem, so they would probably fix it 'silently' (if at all).
They have plenty of previous form for not admitting to faults, and also of silently fixing them many months down the line...

Just updated 8.4 today, already had one springboard crash during updating the apps in app store.
Looks like nothing changed!
my device is ip6 128GB

Assuming your iPhone is still on warranty, try having it replaced. When my iPad started doing that they replaced it and after that it was fine.

So, contrary to popular belief, this isn't necessarily just firmware related. It can also be hardware related.

I don't think that Springboard crashes are hardware-related because too many phones are suffering from the problem. There are some full-on crashes relating to memory chips and they *are* hardware faults.

Too many??? Looking how much iPhone users there are with 8.3, maybe 0.000001% has this issue.

Springboard crashes that only occur during App updates and that only started with iOS 8.3 are almost certainly a software problem.

Hardware issues tend to cause blue screen (kernel panics), not out of memory errors.

From watching updates, I'm pretty sure the cause of the respring is that starting with iOS 8.3, when there are multiple apps that need updating, they all update at the same time. This has a chance of triggering a respring.

In iOS 8.2 and earlier they would update in batches of three.

A springboard crash would show up in the diagnostics log. Whenever my iPad or iPhone crashes I check the logs and there is nothing that would be to blame.

If it runs out of memory would it be able to write to the logs?

My theory is that the update is trying to do them all at once and runs out of memory. That would explain why I see this issue a lot less often on my iPad Air 2 since it has 2 GB of RAM. I have over 500 apps on each device and tend to get lots of app updates almost daily.

Lack of logs is one of the things Apple complained about when I filed a big report on this. I think they just gave up trying to fix it.

Any idea why I'm getting so many reboots and "ResetCounter" crash logs on my iPhone 5S? I have 11 occurrences today and 26 yesterday. Waiting for my turn at the Genius Bar on Friday.

I'm not sure. I've never actually had the issue of my iPad restarting when I update my apps - It just randomly happens with no logs to show.

My iphone works fine until upgraded to 8.3, so I think it is definitely a software issue.
