I like Spotify - but nobody with an iOS device will stick with them. Apple Music just offers better OS integration. And for Android, there's Google Play Music which is already pretty cool. Leaving the Windows Phone and Blackberry guys for Spotify: good luck :-/ What Spotify has going for them is the integration into services like WD Player, Sonos etc. - but Google also does Sonos, and it's a niche market. I'm sorry to see Spotify go down the drain - they were the pioneers and their service is really good.

On the contary, in the UK at least, Spotify has done a great job of being offered for free in various services. EG sign up to Vodafone 4G and you get the premium service, BT offered it at some point, plus others.

So they've a massive base of users who are getting the premium service for free.

That base, plus existing paying users, have been with Spotify for a few years now and have built up their playlists, their likes, their connections with friends on there etc....Apple Music simply doesn't offer enough incentive to move away from Spotify right now.

I am talking UK mainly here as I know Spotify only launched in the US last year, but have a look at the subscriber base for Europe and you'll see this is the equivalent of asking all the Man United fans in the world to jump ship and support LA Galaxy

UK prices include VAT, though not sure if that applies to online services. That explains a bit part of the difference between European and US prices.

THIS

UK products and services are quoted with VAT included for Consumers (In Enterprise it's exVAT).
So whenever people in the UK see USA prices there's usually a stink kicked up until theyre explained to that VAT isnt included in US pricing, plus there's different taxes based on what State you live!

However, generally speaking it is cheaper in the US...I did a comparison for the Macbook Pro R and it came in, with an LA tax, of £170....so cheaper but for a product over £1000/$1000 it's not much of a saving as people think

Apple really didnt do a great job of explaining the impact of iTunes Match and this news article, when ive read the Twitter post, doesnt exactly confirm the 100k increase of iTunes Match.

Currently I have Match and at my 25k limit....would love it to be increased but until I see this properly in writing, Im presuming it's the Radio element.

I also think, in the future, they'll scrap Match and just force people to subscribe to Radio

Just like they were late to the party making an MP3 player, Smartphone, a Tablet and a Watch? What happened when they entered those markets? Right. With Apple Music being built into hundreds of millions of iOS devices and Apple allowing people to try it for free for 3 months and the marketing power they have? Not to mention Apple releasing it for Android? Spotify could very well end up being another Blackberry.
Nope. Streaming business have billion users today. Not that much more next week. In your examples there was no business going on.

Let's see how it goes, but me and all my friends are just ignoring apple on this. Why bother, spotify just works.

Ahh, nothing there for me other than maybe the ad blocker. I'm with Three in the UK, which has unlimited data, on 4G and includes unlimited tethering. I will have Apple Music, which has unlimited skips and I don't have people that call me I need to block.

Well, you can't cancel it, as such, anyway can you? Just cancel your auto-renew, as you pay a year upfront.

But you don't have Virtual Home, amazing tweak that saves your home button.

There seems to be some confusion about iTunes Match and its relationship with Apple Music:

If you subscribe to Apple Music, iTunes Match functionality will be included, that is any tracks in your current library will be matched against those in the Store. Those with a match will be made available immediately to stream to all your devices. Those without a match will be uploaded to iCloud and then made available to stream to all your devices. The 25,000 limit does not include songs purchased from the iTunes store.

If you don't subscribe to Apple Music you can still purchase iTunes Match separately and it will work in exactly the same way.

Former Beats Music CEO and current Apple Music senior director Ian Rogers made a brief blog post yesterday summarizing some of his background in music leading up to this week's debut of Apple Music while also revealing Apple's launch schedule for iOS 8.4 and the new Beats 1 radio station.

According to Rogers, iOS 8.4 will go live at 8 AM Pacific this Tuesday, two hours earlier than Apple's usual iOS update release window. Beats 1 will kick off programming an hour later, offering users around the world a 24/7 streaming music station led by former BBC DJ Zane Lowe and featuring a mixture of interviews and music sets from DJs interspersed with programming blocks from celebrities such as Elton John, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, and Drake.Aside from Beats 1, which is free to all users signed in with an Apple ID, Apple Music also includes a paid streaming component priced at $9.99 per month for a single user or $14.99 for a family of up to six people. Subscribers will have streaming access to the full Apple Music catalog of over 30 million tracks, with Apple offering a three-month free trial to give users an extended opportunity to test out the new service.

Update: In a series of responses on Twitter, Eddy Cue has confirmed Apple will be releasing a new seed of iOS 9 to enable Apple Music for users on that version, as well as Apple's plans to increase the current 25,000-track limit for iTunes Match (and thus Apple Music's scan/match/upload service) to 100,000 with the launch of iOS 9.

Update 2: Rogers has removed mention of the specific timing for the launch from his blog post, but a Tweet by Rogers yesterday encouraging a user to upgrade at 8:00 AM ahead of Zane Lowe's kickoff of Beats 1 at 9:00 AM remains.

I think you guys might have done a mistake here. From what I read of Eddy Cue's response on Twitter, Apple is working on increasing the 25000 song limit to 100000 for APPLE MUSIC. He doesn't state that they are working on bumping that limit up as well for ITUNES MATCH..
Might be they will as well, but you state it as if he's referring directly to ITUNES MATCH, which he isn't. They may even phase out ITUNES MATCH sooner or later..

Apple seem to be getting much more vocal on social sites. Which is good to see.

On another note for UK users I am guessing this will drop about 4PM..

Since Apple Music is probably using the existing iTunes Match system, it makes sense that the limit applies to both. Otherwise they'll have an unnecessary duplication there.

Providing what the man said about it being out on Tuesday still stands, yup. With Beats1 going live at 5pm UK time.

I'm still hoping they've seen the error of their ways and 8.4 drops at 5/6pm UK time today tho.

But spotify has less of a catalog than Apple, so there's going to be quite a bit of migration for that, along with people preferring the ease of native integration for iOS.

I have friends that get spotify as part of their contract, some don't use it. Those that do are switching to Apple Music, as it is more convenient and has content that is not on Spotify.

Free does not always mean that people will use it.

I've never had an issue with home button in the entirety of having an iPhone or iPad, and I've owned one since first gen.

So again, pointless for me.

Believe me, it's much more functional and pleasing, to use home button as touch pad. JBed iPhone is superior to non JBed.

As for 8.4, obviously, i'll wait for JB.

Yes. Two hours earlier than normal. Normally updates are released at 1800. We'll get the update at 1600 followed by Apple Music at 1700 (if we get it, there has been lots of conflicting messages on here that only the U.S. will be getting it on launch, the Apple U.S. site says coming 6/30/15 while the UK site, as well as many others, says coming soon!)

I've seen what it does and personally, not that fussed. I like the actual click of the home button, knowing I've actually pressed it. rather than accidentally doing stuff.

JB'ed iPhone tends to be more unstable. Previously there were compelling reasons to suffer that. These days, hardly any justifications. Hell, the other person listed something that was stealing.

But Spotify has 90% of what people listen to most (with the odd exception - Beatles, Taylor S)
Ease of navigation is subjective right now - Spotify is hardly difficult to use anyway.

For me, still, the USP is the ability to upload your own music to Apple's services and integrating the likes of Soundcloud-type services.

Updates are earlier due to BST of course.

We are getting Apple Music on 30th, anyone saying otherwise is wrong.
