Where is the topic??? And if wifi is disabled, how does the Apple TV know ????? If that's possible then it's magic! (Not a sarcasm!)

I think Wifi is still required but uses adhoc via bluetooth as its initial connection setup point. Not 100% though.

Can anyone tell me if getting "green bubble friends" texts on iPad is functional yet in beta and, most importantly, **does it require an iPhone to be present to function?**

Many thanks! I volunteer teach seniors how to use iPads to communicate with their families this feature will be HUGE- but most are in assisted living homes and do not have iPhones...

Yes, it works! But only together with an iPhone.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but now if you open direction from safari, google maps open and have bar on top to quickly go back to safari, nice little touch!

Cool feature thx! Does it mean you can choose whether you want to open a direction with apple maps or google maps ?

This is a new one

In messages the keyboard will keep its setting based on the conversation thread.

Example, I am speaking with a friend in Romanian with the keyboard language in Romanian, and in a a different thread in English with predictive on, when I switch thread the keyboard switches automaticly in my case from Romanian to English. In ios 7 the keyboard had one setting that was used system wide)

Alex

available since iOS 6 (see here: http://www.macstories.net/news/ios-...used-international-keyboard-for-each-contact/)

A quick question: Do the new time lapse and timer functions work for front camera too or they just exclusive to the back camera ?

Not sure if anyone has posted this at all? When you search for directions in maps, the layout to choose between Drive, Walk, Apps looks different. Also, if you click apps, it shows up a list of apps for directions. As you can see, I also have Google Maps installed (although I never use it) and if I click 'Route', it automatically transfers the directions across to the Google Maps app. It also suggests other relevant apps that will provide me with directions.

Like I said, it got ignored (and subsequently buried).

Basically it establishes a direct connection the device, rather than relying on the WiFi network. It's the same technology that AirDrop uses; it creates a special Wi-Fi ad-hoc network between the iOS device and the Apple TV.

I can't test it since I don't have an Apple TV, but it's been reported on on several trusted sites (Engadget, 9to5Mac, etc.)

Airdrop requires that your wifi be on, does it not? Continuity and Apple TV pairing both function without radios turned on.

Just confirmed, airdrop turns your wifi on in order to function. This isn't necessary with either of the new features. Not really sure what demon pact they entered to make this happen.

While it does turn your wifi on, it does not actually need to be connected to a wifi network.

Exactly, it uses the WiFi of each device to directly communication with one another, i.e. "ad-hoc". No routers or middlemen, just device to device.

I've often wondered how far the range is on iPhone's 5/S.

If you do this through Siri (which is cool since it's so quick when you hear music you like) there doesn't seem to be any way to get a listing of your previously tagged songs like you could if you actually used the Shazam app.

Sure you can. Tap the list icon on the upper right hand corner in the AppStore.

AirDrop uses Wi-Fi Direct, which requires the Wi-Fi radio. It however it does not require an established Wi-Fi Network with an Internet connection.

Since nobody could do me the favour, I'll ask again; can anyone confirm if we can attach more than 5 photos per mail? Thanks in advance.

iOS 8, All The Little Things! [Features Discovered in iOS 8]

I read some members stating push email is not working. iOS 8 now allows us to select what box (inbox, sent, etc) we want pushed. You will have to go into each email account and indicate which box to push. A lot of mine were unchecked so my push wasn't working. It's back to normal now.

Are the BUY button and animation new? I don't listed to iTunes radio much...

You could select different folders/mailboxes before iOS 8 as well.
