Ditto.

I can now reconsider iPhone.

But it's also a sad day. This and the ability to say "Hey, Siri" (like "OK Google") really does show that Apple's innovative days are over, and they too are now resorting to just copying. These are features Android has had for years.

I agree. But people are still going to be all over apple products, its the name that matters to most people.

Get your facts right. "Hey Siri" only works when the device is connected to a power source. At worst, the phone might charge a little slower.

Did you even look at the quoted text?

He was saying why it had to be plugged in, because it would drain the battery otherwise.

Can anyone answer my query

I remember seeing in the keynote that they scribbled on a pic?
Was that in mail or notes? Or both

Thanks

One of my pet peeves with iOS 7 was when listening to an audiobook i like to use the book cover as artwork. When using the lock screen all rectangular covers had two white bars on the sides. in iOS 8 it looks nice! the pics are from an iPhone 4S running iOS 8 beta and an ipod Touch with iOS7

It's beginning to be really boring and annoying to read the same crap over and over again about how "Apple stole 'Hey Siri' from Android 'OK Google'".
About 20 years ago, Apple had speech recognition on Macintosh Quadra AV and later on Power Macintosh. At that time, to call the speech recognition to attention, you could either press a chosen key combination or call it by its name, a name that you could choose yourself. So, if you think Apple stole this feature from Android, you are off mark by more than 15 years.
Maybe somebody else also used this before Apple, but what is sure is that Apple used it before Android, a long long time before!

They’ve switched from using the vibrant look to the plain translucency for the camera shortcut etc.

I agree! People keep complaining like Apple is some sort of copier, but Android is just a Xerox of iOS. Apple innovates. When they 'borrow' ideas from Android, they always put their own spin on it. There are finite ideas out there and when someone implements them first it doesn't mean they innovated anything. Just means they were quicker to market. Google puts things into Android for the sake of having a list of features, whereas Apple will put time and thought into the idea and give it usefulness.

Now I found something really cool.

I got an SMS (not an iMessages) today at about 3 pm while I was at work and my iPad laying down at home. Now when I came back home my iPhone was off because the Akko was empty half an hour before I came home.
When I looked at my iPad it wasn't kconnected to my wifi but the moment it connected it showed me that SMS! My iPhone was laying next to it with no charge at all.

So this means Contnuity IS working over the Internet! Not only local.

I had this star trek encyclopedia on cd-Rom with voice control. I remember the manual saying "Macintosh users should say "hello computer"" to activate it. (A reference to Star Trek IV)

Im not a fan boy of either platform...I currently have a Gold 5s, recently a Galaxy S5, windows 1520...you name it, I've had it. Both Android, Apple, Windows whatever. They all use each other ideas and put their own funky twist to it. Android have been had this "Ok Google" feature in their phones (Not computers) for awhile now and it works pretty damn nice if you ask me. Now all of a sudden Apple implements this "Hey Siri" feature within iOS8, which is good. But the downfall to this is that it has to be plugged up / charging to use the feature because it drains the battery. That's a epic fail if you ask me and hopefully Apple can fix the battery drain issue and have it work without being charged up.

I would say that Apple did still a lot from the Jailbreak Community...but that's just me... ;)

I agree! Apple, Google and Microsoft all 'borrow' ideas from each other that resonate with consumers. If not for the jailbreak community, a lot of features we love, like Notification Center may never exist at this moment. I credit Apple, Google and Microsoft for being humble enough to borrow some great ideas from each other and the jailbreak community to make their products better and better. A lot of JB hacks are great, but I would rather wait for an official implementation from Apple rather than JB my iPhone. Just my comfort level.

Is the swipe back now global throughout all iOS 8? Because a 4.7 iphone will need a way to go back...

It has been global when swiping back was animated. But the issue exists when swiping back doesn't animate the same such as in the photos app (switching between collections and moments)

Probably rather far from a fail, let alone an epic one. Even with Android I don't believe most phones can support "OK Google" just like that at any time.
