Beta's 3 also health application started plotting steps graph, loading data from M7!

Requesting desktop site was already there since beta 1!

Beta 3 also put handoff switch on iPad 3, and now calls are all relayed through the iPhone!

I tested it on my MacBook and iPad, and they are both capable of making or receiving calls. Mac needs yosemite beta 3 too!

Bluetooth is not needed! Everything is done through wifi!

As far as i understand it, handoff requires Bluetooth 4.0, which isn't on older macs. The phone call and SMS features are part of continuity, not handoff, and work over wifi rather than BT.

iOS8 new feature (Dynamic Mac Address)

I read an article about new iOS8 feature about dynamic mac address feature. It will be terrible for me because we accept our company iPads and iPhones to our Internet network using WPA2 and MAC address filter. I am also using MAC address filter for 3 iPhones and one iPad in my home network as many other people. Is there an option for force iOS8 devices to use their original MAC addresses? I will be very glad if beta users answer this question.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Simply don't use MAC Adress filtering; it's not secure, especially if used on its own!
People on PC/MAC/Android can spoof their MAC address since forever, so all they need to do is get an allowed one.

I don't know how it is in other countries but here in Germany a trial ruled, that MAC address filtering doesn't count as a securing method, so the network owner would be responsible for illegal actions committed on his line.

Thanks Shuri,
You are right. The network they are connecting is for Internet access only. We will consider to put an MDM solution. Do you have any recommendation for home network? By the way did you have a change to evaluate iOS8?

WPA2 should be fine at home.Use a long key and disable WPS. There is no publicly known security issue with WPA2 other than the WPS hole.

I don't have a dev account (yet), so no. Not having one last year either, I loaded iOS 7 beta on my phone, just to get a quick look at it. I'm going to be patient this time. :)

Thanks,

The dynamic MAC address is used only for WiFi discovery. For connection to WiFi the original MAC address is used. So no changes are needed on the network.

Anyway, what Shuri says is true and important.

Is this just calls or all handoff features? Do they need to be on the same Wi-Fi network?

Where did you see the additional information about this feature? Without seeing much about it before I mostly thought it's simply something that would allow someone to change their MAC address if/as needed, meaning that it can stay as it was if someone wasn't to elect to change it themselves.

I know its an early beta but are any apps using the Health App?

No, they'd have to be updated using iOS 8 SDK, and Apple doesn't allow those updates until the public release of the new iOS version. So no apps will be able to take advantage until iOS 8 is released publicly.

Quick Select

This might have been mentioned already, but it looks like we lost the "ticker" at the bottom when sending messages. If you recall, there was a filmstrip of sorts that let you quickly choose an image to attach. I really liked that. Bummer.

You have to hit "Details" in the top right. That's how it's been since the first beta. Unless you're talking about something else?

Apologies if already noted but there is now a B&W slider for photos which is magical. ;-) Actualy it is pretty damn awesome!

No. When you click the camera icon to send someone a picture, it used to give you a filmstrip and you could quick select a picture. I'm back to getting the choices of Photo Library, Take Photo or Video, and Cancel.

Clicking details only gives you the option of sending your location, or calling the contact you are texting.
