Expecting it today..
Apple is seriously disappointing this time.. I see no big innovations in ios8 plus since beta 1 has been always worse!
Beta 1 was "ok", beta 2 was worst and not the 3rd is pissing me off with crashes and reboots

What?

Haven't you seen Continuty in action? It's fantastic. Answering calls from your Mac? And yes, I know it's late but iOS 8 allows developer access to Touch ID (have you seen the iOS 8 1Password beta?) and third-party keyboards. iOS 8 is going to be brilliant.

Continuity doesn't work for 95% of devs.
Don't see any big new features

Also because of Swift, the language is a lot simpler and smaller so maybe we will see a reduction in app sizes

lol it doesn't work that way. iOS doesn't run raw Swift code, it runs compiled code.

Even it did, the vast majority of space in apps is taken by assets (images, videos, sounds etc.)

Just because some features aren't fully functional or have some issues in betas so far somehow means there are no new features that are part of iOS 8. Talk about some solid logic.

Dude. Continuity will be great when will work. But except that o don't see any great features. ICloud Drive is nothing new/special. As health.. It just store datas from other apps.. Come on lets be honest.. The past ios had better innovations

What did iOS 6 have? There are more noticeable changes in this version than in other recent iOS releases IMO.

Size of the un-compiled language is irrelevant and inconsequential.

Compiled code is tiny, it's artwork which takes up space.

Right now, I do agree that iOS 8 as a Beta doesn't bring much for mainstream end-users. I feel exactly the same every day I use it. It's like iOS 7, but with bugs. But I know it'll all come up when new version of 3rd-party apps hit the App Store.

iOS 8 changes are under the hood for developers (4,000 new APIs), it's about setting a solid base for the next 25 years (Swift), opening the platform (to combat Android) and bringing things we haven't even seen yet on the iPhone 6 and iWatch, which are supposedly equipped with a bunch of sensors (humidity, temperature, glucose...).

I agree, I also feel like iOS 8 feels a lot like iOS 7 right now, we won't see it's real potential until it is actually released.

Bro, ok. I'm happy you see tons of new features

In iOS 7 the biggest features appear to be the new look, Control Center, AirDrop, and iTunes Radio. The page you linked even says "And while many of the apps look different, the way you do things feels perfectly familiar."

In iOS 8 I see Continuity, Extensions, Improved Notifications, better keyboard(s), widgets, Health and iCloud Drive.

iOS 8's changes seem to affect the OS more as a whole.

Exactly. iOS 7 was just a fresh coat of paint. Hardly anything 'new'. iOS 8 adds a lot of new things that users will not see until apps start updating

  • Continuity
  • Handoff
  • Quick reply
  • Extensions
  • Wi-Fi calling
  • 3rd party keyboards

Holy crap, some people are just never happy.

Heck......iOS 8 was perfect for me just with just quick reply......continuity and handoff were just bonuses.....everything else is sugar on top......I'm very happy, of course will be even happier once continuity and handoff work for me :D

Same! Overall, I'm very pleased with this update!

Extensions alone make this one of the bigger releases, and that's just one part of iOS 8. Short of the introduction of the App Store, multitasking, and notification center, what big features from past iOS releases are we talking about where exactly in comparison that were bigger or more important?
