WiFi calling will be exclusive to postpaid accounts. Prepaid accounts will not be supported. Confirmed by several T-mobile CS reps.

unbelievable. that's terrible

*looks like wifi calling is limited to the 5S.

I've got an iPhone 4S running Beta 3 and the latest carrier settings, on T-Mobile. Also, I have an e911 address associated with my account. However, I don't get the WiFi calling option. It may be because this was once an AT&T phone, which was unlocked and moved over to T-Mobile when that contract was up.

Once again, WiFi calling is exclusive to iPhone 5S on T-mobile's postpaid accounts.

I wonder if there is a hardware reason for limiting to the 5S?

Or is it just a temporary limitation to start out with fewer "beta testers".

Any links to back up your statement? I bought my Tmo iPhone 5 the day it was released. Im also postpaid. I don't even get the wifi calling toggle.

My texts keep sending four of the same message to the person. Anyone else experiencing this

nothing official but the only group that has had success and reported it seems to be people with 5S's, so...

This is one of those features that strikes me that it shouldn't require the Telcos agreement. It shouldn't matter to them whether I start the call from my phone or my computer, as to them it should look like the same device.

They need to make money, so by requiring post paid, prepaids don't get to pay barely anything, and have basically unlimited calling when in the vicinity of wifi.

This doesn't make sense to me since they still "charge" you minutes for using wifi calling. Why not support prepaid as well? It takes load off their network and offers users a better experience especially in their homes. It's win-win for all, so why not offer it?

I get great service at home, so not a huge deal for me but would really have liked it for occasional trips overseas. I use Hangouts with my Google Voice number now, but this would have made for a more seamless experience.

I tried this but when you turn on Airplane mode all cellular and phone options are grayed out and you can't place a call....even with wifi turned on.:(

This looks like an undesired restriction.
Until now, Apple was preventing the phone module to do anything in airplane mode. I believe however, that there is no good reason to not enable wifi calling on airplane mode.

I might be wrong, but I have a feeling that it will be enabled in an upcoming beta

.....unless they don't want people trying to make calls with in-flight wifi!

I would think the plane's wifi system could block this though.

If I were overseas I would want to put my phone in airplane mode and force it to connect only by wifi in order to prevent being charged for roaming (although Tmobile has very reasonable roaming charges with many plans).

Only iPhone 5S is supported, not iPhone 5.

No links except for the verbal confirmation from several T-mobile CS reps.

I have a hard time believing anyone is even able to get ahold of tom cs rep smart enough to know what a beta software is.

Im betting this is just a bug with beta 3.

Wifi calling

I'm sure T-Mobile with need to send a carrier update for it to be enabled

I have T-Mobile and I've been able to WIFI call since Beta 1.

It just works. I know thats a crappy thing to say and I wish it would be a little more technical but it isn't. I guess with Android it will actually say WIFI but this just has the normal icon. You can disable the Cellular and it will work just fine.

NO THERE IS NO ENABLE WIFI CALLING IN THE PHONE SETTINGS!!!!

I am not sure why people keep saying there is....

YOUR JUST completely WRONG.. wifi calling came out in BETA 3. AND there is clearly a setting on the iphone for it. its in SETTING , THAN scroll down to PHONE and than under CALLS its the first one. and once you turn it on and verify you e911 you all set. you can VERIFY the calls are actually wifi calls when you check your cal history on tmobile.com

Sorry dude.. Don't tell ME WHAT I HAVE AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO... I have been able to turn off my Cellular Connection and make calls on WIFI.. Since Beta 1.

I'm not completely wrong... I have turned off my Cellular settings since Beta 1 and have always had WIFI Calling..

I have an iPhone 5 and have NEVER SEEN the WIFI settings in the PHONE Settings.. maybe it's different for 5s? I don't know but I have ALWAYS HAD WIFI CALLING....
