is there anyone that has this working on a iPhone 5? Have we ruled this device as not working as of B3?

I recommend to try free Vonage app. It's a wifi calling app. You can call anyone in US with wifi. When you used Vonage to call anyone in US, they won't know you're using Vonage. They will receive your call as same as you call from your cellular

Any cellular network, or even landline anywhere in the world (of course, toll charges may apply as with any regular call you make from your phone).

WiFi Calling's main purpose is for you to be able to connect to the T-Mobile Network to make regular phone calls when you are at a location where there's a weak or no cellular signal.

Ok. If Im on the receiving end, can I choose if I want to answer the call with regular cellular signal or with wifi?

It's supposed to be transparent to the user.
You will just answer the call. if the call is already coming over WiFi Calling, then it will remain over WiFi.

The purpose of the WiFi Calling option is for the user to enable or disable WiFi Calling when their cellular service signal is weak and unreliable. It's up to the phone to decide which path to use, not up to the user.

Perhaps someone else who has tested the beta could explain this a little more.

Wi-Fi calling still not enabled for iPhone 5.

It'll be really disappointing if Apple intentionally chooses to exclude this feature from the iPhone 5, which (AFAIK) has no technical limitation for excluding the feature.

Thanks for all the information in this thread :)

To sum up, what we know for sure is:
* Compatible Devices: iPhone 5s, 5c
* Incompatible Devices: iPhone 5, 4s
* Does not work in airplane mode (software bug-will likely be fixed later)
* Compatible carriers: T-mobile ONLY
* Compatible Plans: Post Paid
* Incompatible Plans: $30-Walmart prepaid
* Costs the same price as a regular cellular call on your plan

Any news with users on beta4 ?
It would be good to confirm what has been said in this thread (everyone was on beta3).

still seems to be an iOS 5S/5C exclusive feature. I don't expect that to change, just a hunch, not basing this on any additional or inside information.

Come on AT&T iPhone Wifi Calling!

I'm tired of patching things up with the microcell. This would be huge, for me anyway.

I'm on the Walmart $30 plan and it doesn't let me use Wifi calling.

This sucks

do you think you could try to check your home 911 address ?

one user had reported that:
- ALL fields/lines must be filled
- the home address update date has to be >July 2014. Just modify one line to make sure that it is the case

I'm on the walmart plan too, so I'd like to know :)

thanks !

Don't be taken in by all their advertisements. They have A LOT of work and then SOME to do on their network. The band 4 LTE is horrible. The signal is so bad, even though all the towers have been upgraded. Using the iphone 5S, it bounces back and fourth from Edge to 4G to LTE. The battery drains so much faster with T-Mobile. It also gets a lot hotter.

Try T-Mobie thoroughly in your area before committing.

Your experience seems to be a lot different than mine. My move to T-mobile has been fantastic. My work has me in a different city most days roughly 250 days per year, and I have yet to find a bad area. Add to that the free international data roaming (up to 3g, but it's free), an international call plan that is a fixed $15 and I can call anywhere for as long as I like, streaming spotify not counting in my data usage and .... it is a winner for me

I still do not have the feature on my iPhone 5 running iOS 8 Beta 5. Probably will not have it. I think it might be too late for Apple to enable it, meaning it is not supported on the iPhone 5. Oh well

Does wifi calling work for sms/mms for anyone? It doesn't seem to be working on my iPhone 5s although I do believe it works for calls.

Even if it only works on 5s/5c, I feel like a jailbreak tweak will be able to enable it on iPhone 5 and maybe even 4s

Perhaps it can be enabled on an iPhone 5 via a simple plist edit - no jailbreak required. Probably worth investigating at least.

I tried that myself. Wasn't successful in getting the option to appear.

update:

Apparently all plans can have wi-fi calling.

the requirement is actually to have a compatible SIM card

From the T-mobile chat rep:
"For wifi calling to work, you need to have an IMS-compatible sim. a UICC/GSM sim would do the trick"

I will try to get one at lunch and come back to confirm

(I am on $30/walmart prepaid)

update: does not work.
I have been provided incorrect information.

The SIM card required is a GBA (IMS-compatible) SIM card (identifyiable by the number 9177 on the card)

will try again tomorrow

My understanding is for now WiFi calling on iPhone will not work on any prepaid plan.

That might be the reason...
I wonder if it's a stupid glitch or an actual marketing strategy.
I've talked to many reps and all stated that it should work on prepaid and postpaid accounts, without any difference.

It was working on my iPhone 5s then all of a sudden stopped. SMS still works, I turned on Airplane mode and wifi and wifi calling and was able to make and receive calls and SMS perfectly. MMS however worked for a day or 2 and then just stopped working. SMS however still works over Wifi calling AND cellular.
