I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited and the bluetooth doesn't work with my 6. Had an interesting chat with AppleCare about this last week. Glad I took screenshots of the conversation.

Post the screenshots if you can, that may be an interesting read.

Maybe related, I have been having issues with the iPhone 6 and it's hotspot to a MacBook Pro.

I eventually get them connected via bluetooth but after a period of time it silently drops out.

Now I ran the beta versions of iOS 8.x on a iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S and never had these drop outs.

So I don't know if its the iOS 8.0 or 8.0.2 or the iPhone 6 itself.

I am running OS X Yosemite GM on the MacBook Pro.

I use the hotspot everyday on the train to work, so its quite a pain.

I've had no issues with Bluetooth on my euro ford focus 2.5. Think the factory fitted Bluetooth is some sort of Nokia module - Bluetooth name is 'Ford Audio'.

Maybe there was some benefit to the Steve Jobs method ... tyrannical leadership, laser sharp focus, and an "off with there head" mentality

It's interesting thought though. It's a well observed view yet look at the time under Jobs. Apples best years.

Under Cook who seems like a decent bloke a string of issues in very close succession. Not a good position to be in, nor can it be ignored. It leaves a mark on the minds of the competitors that they finally have a chance to eclipse when having faced many years of being upstaged on almost every level.

In my case, whenever I try to make a call in my 2013 Camry, my phone automatically calls whoever it was that I previously spoke to on my phone, whether I want to speak with them, or someone else. :p Also, I'm unable to hang up through the car's controls, and need to end the call from my phone. A real pain while I'm driving, let me tell you...

Indeed, another issue Apple will have to deal with is the portfolio of products continues to grow (e.g., it's getting more complicated). Multiple types of iPhone, multiple types of iPads, a soon-to-be-released totally new product (the watch), etc. Apple is becoming more complex as they add more products, so these kinds of missteps may continue.

As a software developer, this doesn't surprise me.
Arbitrary software release dates (instead of releasing when ready) cause this.

Mines pairing with my Kenwood after market head unit, but I don't use it much so will need to test it to make sure it's working 100%.

You're right, except for things like losing cell service after an update should be caught. That's not exactly a corner case.

Also testing bluetooth on the top 5 car manufacturers shouldn't be too much of a stretch either. If you're talking THIS phone with THIS software running THIS app talking to THIS radio is an issue, yes, that would be hard to find. But not when it's a majority of radios are seeing some kind of issue.

What percentage of cell users actually lost service? If it was 20%, sure. If it was 2%, that's tough to catch in QE.

Regarding the car manufacturer: it depends on how the partnership program was run. System integration testing is tough for SQE groups; it requires access to all the system pieces, among other challenges. If the original engineering responsibility was put on the car companies, it's likely that the Apple SQE team doesn't even have access to the required HW from those top 5 manufacturers. Which would definitely be a flaw in the process; but as someone who has been involved with computer system products for 30+ years, it's one I would expect. And why I never upgrade until a month after GA.

Pairing drops in Toyota

Same happening here in my 14' Tundra... Good to hear its fixed for 8.1

Man with as fast and as needed as the updates are becoming and being released, :apple: should really start promoting iOS9 now, just sayin..

I noticed that issue, although it takes two seconds to get it back to work by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the device under bluetooth settings. However some apps are failing to broadcast to my wireless earbuds, I dont know if this is due to iOS 8 or if this has always been the case.

Regardless stop making it sound like it is the end of the world. This kind of bug belongs in Apple's support forum not in the news, like are we really going to start grabbing every bug and make an article out of it? Apple has always had issues with every single update, I just find it funny that all of a sudden it became cool to write on every single possible bug detected.

Whatever, this only means that Apple will react faster to the reported issues unlike Android where you are pretty much left to figure it out on your own when things start to fail.

It's not the end of the world, but it IS a big deal if you are trying to answer a call while driving and the call keeps disconnecting (especially if your phone is tucked away in a pocket / purse / bag). So much for "hands free" and "eyes free" right? So yeah... maybe it's not the worse bug ever, but there is a safety concern here. We're not talking about affecting Jimmy's ability to listen to his music on his BT headset.

Have you tried turning it off and on again...? :p

Indeed. Two or three times in the last two years with my iPhone 5, it has lost Bluetooth. I fixed that by turning off bluetooth on the radio and turning it back on and forcing it to re-recognize. I suppose if something got really bad, you could erase the car radio's bluetooth pairing and do that again. Some digital crap is blocking a clear connection. By the way, I'm using 8.0.2.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium

I had to turn bluetooth off on my phone...as soon as my phone connected to my car...it somehow started a call to my own # and I couldnt end the call. very bizarre.

edit: I have an iPhone 6.

Good. people should stop using their damn phones in the car and drive. Your conversations aren't that important that you can't wait until you get to your destination or pull over.

Yeah, I bought a Sony thing -- my original head unit had a cassette recorder! -- and its name is "Sony Automotive."

Not only cars but headsets too - after 8.02 update on my 5 I had the very annoying iOS 4 style bug which made the controls on the plantronics legend headset useless and kept switching to the handset for audio. It still is unreliable on my tune2air dongle I use in my 2007 E class nevertheless.

Resetting all network settings does help - iCloud keychain and all the wifi networks I have stored only made that possible so I at least have something to feel happy about with this most bug ridden release since iOS 4!

Again. Preparation, thorough and clear would reduce these risks. Under Jobs that would have been close to being assured. Under Cook, I think not and with the issues materialising in close succession again it leaves an indelible mark.

Under Jobs getting a grip within a week of them materialising would more likely have been achieved.

Its troubling, I think their portfolio and software is growing in complexity and bloat, but lacking polish. They need to keep it simple and amazing.

When I was on iOS 7, I had connection issue with my 2013 fusion. After ford updated the SYNC software all the issues went away.

I wonder if all these issues are because the Various car manufacture infotainment software need to be updated???

Broken Bluetooth for Pioneer on Renault Clio

With iOS 7 on my iPhone 5S Bluetooth connection was perfect (for both music playback and calls), after upgrading to iOS 8 the Bluetooth function is completely destroyed, it is imposible to do calls or play music, nothing changed after iOS 8.0.2 firmware update.

Apple needs to fix this right now, this issue even create security risks when using the phone while driving.

I have a Pioneer DEH-4500BT stereo in a Renault Clio.

I have Ford Sync...

I connect via bluetooth with a iPhone 5 running iOS 8.0.2. No issues with connecting to the head unit for me.

Hard reset of the iPhone fixes Bluetooth issues. Haven't figured out why it hangs up, but was successful 3x on mine. Running both 8.0 & 8.0.2.

iOS 8 is just the GATE or 8Gate - or wait, it's iOS G8 - just incredible, more issues than new features which are working properly.
