If you have a problem REPORT IT TO APPLE DIRECTLY. This is how we solve the issue. Complaining about it on a 3rd party internet forum doesn't solve it. They can't fix it if they don't know the problem exists and the more people that report the issue to them, the greater need they'll see to fix it. Don't rely on others to report it for you. It takes less than 2 minutes to report.

Actually a lot of Apple staff look at these forums, hence the reporting about new iOS versions hitting the MacRumors web logs. So reporting here may actually be better than going through the bug reporting site...

know what i think all this means if it's as bad as people say?

say goodbye to 'acceptable' support for older devices. i think apple may have bit off more than they can chew with their grand vision for ios8 and yosemite working for devices as far back as the 4s. i'd wager they reign in their compatibility threshold for future releases if this keeps up.

I had this issue when I got my iPhone 6 on launch day. I paired it to my Pioneeer AVH-X2600BT and it connected right away and played music just fine. When I tried a call it said it was calling but the music never stopped and the audio came through my phone. I fixed this by deleting the new iPhone and old iPhone 5 from my Bluetooth settings on the stereo. Then I paired my iPhone 6 as a new device and since then have not had any issues. May not work for everyone but it helped me out.

Yep. I was trying to call a friend who I was on my way to visit, and Siri was working through Bluetooth but the call wasn't going through my cars speakers. I had to use the speakers on my phone to end up talking. Very weird.

Paging scott forstall. Dr forstall. Please report to the emergency room.

On Scott's watch, my iPhone 4 would not work with my Apple Bluetooth Headset out of the box.

With iOS 8.0 and 8.0.1 , my iPhone 5S works great with my Apple Bluetooth Headset.

Not sure Scott would have made that much of a difference.

iPhone 6 w/ iOS 8.02 pairs with my Ford Fusion Hybrid and plays music (although sometimes choppy) but I am unable to make calls hands-free (SYNC). Everything worked with iOS 7.x

Having a strong software development background, my heart goes out to Apple (a little bit) over this latest potential issue, but with "bendgate", the troubled initial release of IOS 8.0 to 8.0.1 to 8.0.2, and now this Bluetooth issue, Apple has had a rough couple of weeks in addition to some huge sales of the iPhone 6.

On one side of the coin, the Apple strategy of keeping technology tightly controlled (secret) before general release makes for some great marketing excitement and a huge splash during the unveiling, but on the other side, I think it restricts Apple's ability to more thoroughly test products in more real world situations prior to launch. Of course I know Apple tests their products before launch, but would "bendgate" have been an issue if there was more real-world testing prior to launch? I don't know and I admit I don't know how they could pull off more real world testing while keeping everything secret. The same is true for IOS and testing all the real world scenarios, like this possible Bluetooth problem.

It's a tough balancing act for Apple.

Totally agree! Heads should roll at Apple... Starting with Tim and Jony.

It seems like a very long time ago when products were rolled out with an uncanny precision that it's competitors were in total awe of. A launch of products and services that eclipsed anything that any other company introduced before the keynote!

Now Apple seems riddled with complacency which under Jobs would have not gone unnoticed and you wouldn't get a chance to repeat it. Yet we hear that the employee has been given a further opportunity to be involved in another debacle. Behaviour and shortcomings that affect the reputation of a tech giant leaving an indelible mark on the minds of many whether aficionado or competitor, that Apples best days are behind them. That the legacy of being incredible is lost a distant memory.

No problem with my Bluetooth but coincidentally, I got pulled over for speeding the other day and I told the officer that I think my new iPhone 6 is messing with my speedometer.

He wasn't buying it....court date set for Nov 21st.

Damn you Apple!!!
;)

For the record, no issues with my 2014 Honda Accord. But I realize each car is unique.

Makes me wonder if some cars deviate from the standards and iOS 8 wants them followed more strictly. This is of course bad software engineering, part of interfacing with third parties is assuming not everyone goes strictly by the book.

Maybe there was some benefit to the Steve Jobs method ... tyrannical leadership, laser sharp focus, and an "off with there head" mentality

I'm driving a rented Nissan Altima while my Forester is in the shop, but no issues so far with the OEM Bluetooth and my iPhone 5s on 8.0.2.

I have an aftermarket Kenwood deck in my Forester so I'm anxious to see how that works out.

What a disaster this release is. I'm sure it will get fixed but ios 8 was definetly not ready for release and should have been held back.

It's easy to blame the testers, but at the end of the day the decision to release was taken at a higher level of management

BMW 2010 and not possible to pair it with iPhone 5.
This is really getting ridiculous

What happened?

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has issues with streaming music over Bluetooth. It keeps asking to connect a device even though it clearly shows my 6 listed as connected. It can take/make calls and get texts fine.

The ipad 4 retina's we upgraded to try iOS8 went from running smooth and fast to slow as molasses, nearly unusably laggy, burning up battery, and refusing to hold a connection to anything. And they still look every bit as hideous as iOS7.

But hey, good thing they're not allowing us to downgrade back to functional devices we paid for, right? Cause that'll make us want to rush right out and buy a whole new pile of... more of these things.

Makin a real mess of things lately...

I think Apple has gotten so big now that all the hiring they have to do has lowered their quality talent.
They were much better as a smaller, tighter controlled Co. IMHO.

Exactly - as Jobs would have said, Apple is now plagued by "bozo eruptions." It seems Apple's compartmentalized control and secrecy only work in a small company with an overclocked CEO fount of taste and ideas. Jobs could control Apple as he built it, but I'm beginning to doubt anyone else can, or least someone like Cook who is essentially a glorified train conductor. As Cook described his role in operations:

"You kind of want to manage it like you're in the dairy business. If it gets past its freshness date, you have a problem"

Brilliant for an operations manager, but uninspiring as a CEO. Apple at least needs an engineeer/tech guy at the helm, but even then they're just trying to clone Jobs. Not gonna happen.

My guess is they coast for a while and either become a stale but sturdy company like IBM or descend into the Apple of the previous time w/o Jobs.

Edit: iOS 8 on my 4S is the most bug infested heap of dung I've ever used with Apple's name on it. If there is no accountability for it then it might be time to start looking into Android mobile and Linux desktop.

iOS 8 = Problem
iOS 8.02 = No more problems

2013 Tesla Model S
No problems

Not only Cars.... Hearing Aids too!

Since 8.0.2 my hearing aids are all over the place!

One connects, the other doesn’t... volume changes... loss of connection....

I hope there is a fix soon....

For those of you with car audio problems it is an inconvenience....

For people with hearing problems it is a major problem affecting the quality of life!

I must be one of the lucky ones. My 5s with 8.0.2 is working normally with my Ford SYNC system.

I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited and the bluetooth doesn't work with my 6. Had an interesting chat with AppleCare about this last week. Glad I took screenshots of the conversation.
