Don't use BT pairing, but it really seems like the iOS 8 release date was determined by the iPhone 6 release date rather than by whether it was truly release-candidate quality.

Siri wont place calls in Prius - problem continues

With the 2006 Prius, everything pairs reliably and I can answer/place calls using car controls or manual phone controls and talk and listen to SIRI over the car speakers.... However, when I ask SIRI to place a call, it states out loud that it will now place the call and then immediately ends the call.

I have been working with Apple support through 2 different iPhone 6s and both 8.0 & 8.02 OSs and the problem never varies. All functions work except placing a call using SIRI. This function worked perfectly on my 4s. My bluetooth is not designed to support music playback or any other function besides phone calls.

Have had the same issue(s) with my iPhone 6, paired with my 2013 F150.

Specifically,

a) I can make calls and it may put the audio out over the vehicle speakers...or not.

b) I've had a few times where it would not pair, period.

iOS 8 is just the GATE or 8Gate - or wait, it's iOS G8 - just incredible, more issues than new features which are working properly.

...Yeah, this doesn't bode well for Apple Pay either. I'm really excited about the ability to pay for things with my phone (it's THE reason I will be upgrading to the 6) but now I'm concerned that payment transactions will be ******** up. I really don't want to check my credit card and bank statements every few days just to make sure I'm not getting overcharged, double-charged, or even not charged after using Apple Pay.

I have a Nissan Juke. Iphone 5s with ios 7 worked perfectly.
Now with iphone 6- ios 8.02- the pairing is not working: no network is written on the screen of the car (but in fact there is a network and it works!); the sound does not come anymore through the loudspeakers of the car; and it's impossible to hang up at the end of the call. Many other bugs of various kinds, including with health apps.
Next ios: i will wait for several weeks before moving to a new and probably bugged version.

I've never seen so many public issues with iOS (and even OS X) before iOS 8, besides Maps in iOS 7, especially in subsequent public builds. What the hell happened to your quality control, Apple?

You haven't been paying attention.

Apple is the new Microsoft.

Remember when MS was the largest tech firm? Remember when everyone wanted to be them? Remember when they got too big and little problems started to creep in? Poor decisions were made?

...yeah, that's Apple now. Give it 5 more years and they'll be a tenth in size what they are today.

Time to sell stocks? Perhaps.

Clearly you have zero Idea about the differences in the company. Apple NEVER wanted to be Microsoft. It's like saying Rolls Royce want to be Ford. Both very successful - but in completely different areas really.

Microsoft have issues as they have 100 divisions working independently. No distinct vision. Products launched then abandoned. 15 different products all using the same technology but separate - all requiring separate help desks etc. 15 Different flavours of Windows for example.

Apple is a vertical structure and control everything. 1 OS. ( iOS is a variant ). and it's a hardware company with it's own OS.

Only one thing matters - that they both exist ( same with android ) the create and push each company to make better things.

Good. people should stop using their damn phones in the car and drive. Your conversations aren't that important that you can't wait until you get to your destination or pull over.

Do you talk to passengers in cars? Well don't.

I don't understand some of these issues. Do they rewrite stuff from the ground up for every new OS version? If it was working in iOS7, why monkey with it at all?

Maybe apple should just call all their .0 releases "public betas." Then when bugs pop up we can say "what did you expect from a beta?!?"

I could not get phone calls on my ford sync and after a lot of research and talking to an apple support provider, I decided to erase all my settings. I now have bluetooth working haphazardly... BUT all of my documents in iCloud (about 35 of them) are gone! UGH!

2013 Audi S5/ iPhone 5S. No problems... kinda.

IOS HATE.0.2...
Just don't try to take a picture while streaming bluetooth audio. It will cut off while the photo is taken...

Honestly, i was about to say something in the same light. iOS 8 has been nothing but garbage.

Whether we like it or not, as iOS is growing, it's quality is on the decline.

On the flip side, as Android is stabilizing, it's becoming a better product.

I haven't noticed any Bluetooth issues in my Nissan, but geez. I honestly don't recall any previous iOS software update having so many bugs post final launch. I have updated to 8.0.2 and I still have issues with notifications acting weird/not clearing and also my phone tells me I still have app updates when I have already updated them. I've noticed my battery drains super quick now and then my iPhone 5 cuts off and goes dead when battery says it's still at 20%. With all these bugs you have to wonder if Apple rushed iOS 8 in order to stick with the yearly IOS update... I understand all software has bugs, but isn't that the point of Beta Testing the software before it's public launch?

It's not necessary to reset settings if you delete your iPhone from the car, go to bluetooth in your iPhone, forget the device, sign out of iCloud, power cycle your iPhone, sign back in, and then pair the phone. ...Some users are getting it to work by pairing the phone more than once.

Resetting settings should always be a very last resort.

I've solved many issues by giving my iPhone a power cycle. When putting a whole new iOS on or restoring and setting up as new, sign out of iCloud first. Things work better if you either sign out of iCloud before upgrading from a full iOS version to a new one, or, after upgrading, sign out of iCloud, power cycle the phone, then sign into iCloud. Apple tries to make things work without having to do this, but, these are still desktop computers shrunk into a small device, it still has similar glitches that computers have, or, rather, had a decade ago. Smart Phones are still a relatively new tech, not perfect. Too many people expect everything to work the same as before, but, if you go from windows 7 to windows 8 or Mac OS X 10.8 to 10.9, things are not always going to be smooth, it's just the way it is whith computers (it's the same with iOS 7 to 8 or iOS 6 to 7.)

To the editor of MacRumors: you could save a headache, and a bunch of "how do I get iOS 8.1" comments if you'd post correctly:

"Update: According to some users who have installed iOS 8.1, the new update fixes the problems with Bluetooth."

should read:

"Update: According to some developers who have installed the iOS 8.1 developer preview, the new update fixes the problems with Bluetooth."

iOS 8.1 is not yet available for public consumption.

You guys need to step things up, I'm starting to look elsewhere for Mac/iOS information/news/forums, because, this is becoming more like a blog, losing your edge.

1. Wifi
2 Cloud services
3. Bluetooth

100% of every damn device I have ever owned by this company has failed in one of those categories.

1. Wifi - works great on everyone of mine.
2. Cloud - Agreed. We'll see with the next one - looking good though
3. Nope - always worked apart from this it seems - but my Evoque works fine.
