"Response to Stargate has been incredible with a record number of tweets over the course of the week, so Apple is announcing it has agreed to acquire the critically acclaimed Nixon Watches"

I have no issues what so ever with my BMW 5 MY2013 and iPhone 5.
To have everything working ok do the following steps.
1. Remove the car connection from your devices in the Bluetooth settings from your phone.
2. Remove your phone from the connections in your car.
3. Very important! Shut down your phone and restart.
4. Pair your phone with your car.

This worked for me and also a few other people with Bluetooth connection issues.

so, logical stuff not everyone tries before complaining, you say?

You should probably use a few Windows machines and devices to experience the hell that comes with them before you start chastising Apple over something minute.

I'll take these minor issues over that ANY day. ;)

WINNER, Apple Apologist of the Day. You know, attitudes like yours cause dramatic declines in an organization's relentless pursuit of perfection. There might be a place for you in Tim Cook's Apple.

Steve where are u?????

This is by far the worst iOS upgrade ever. I have nothing but problems with various things.
iOS 8 is going to be for Apple what Windows 8 was for Micro$oft.
I guess 8 is the magic number... And on the Micro$oft subject, they skipped Windows 9 and went straight to 10.
Mac OS X, Windows X... hmmm...

It's called 'complexity'. There are simply too many variables and possible configurations to verify every one of them in a timely manner before release. Letting the voluntary 'early adopter' program perform hundreds of thousands of tests in just a few days is probably the quickest way to find most of the problems. If you don't like it, drop out of the 'early adopter' program.

I apologize as I must have been mistaken. I thought that the iOS Beta program that runs for three months every summer was to find most of the problems before public release. It's quite unreasonable for me to assume that after months of exhaustive testing by 9,000,000 registered iOS developers, my $949 iPhone 6 Plus would be able to work with most of the bluetooth devices that iOS devices have always been able to work with. My sincere apologies for having unbelievably unrealistic expectations. I assure you that I won't let it happen again, as I take commands from fellow forum members quite seriously. I bow before the grace and majesty of your abundant wisdom, and excuse myself politely from this discussion.

Just great. My wife has already been having issues with her iPhone 5 dropping bluetooth connectivity with her car and has a iPhone 6 ordered thinking that the problem is just with the 5. Now she may have a whole new issue. :(

My bluetooth handsfree (era jawbone) won't connect properly unless I toggle from my iphone to ear piece while trying to call out. My issue may be the damn jawbone update.

Bluetooth promises broken.

Any of you guys tried this solution? This did work for people who got stuck with this issue.

1) Log out of icloud on the iphone – SETTINGS, ICLOUD, SIGN OUT (AT BOTTOM)
2) Delete car/headset from iphone – SETTINGS, BLUETOOTH, SELECT DEVICE, FORGET THIS DEVICE
3) Reset network connections – SETTINGS, GENERAL, RESET, RESET NETWORK SETTINGS
4) Delete iphone from car memory
5) Restart phone
6) Pair to car/headset as normal
7) Log back into icloud to use icloud features

All done!

...totally unacceptable.

The focus should be developing/creating the best prudes and service being totally laser focused. Apple under Cook have been too politically motivated thinking this is what will enhance its reputation. Wrong. This is the difference between Jobs and Cook. The former may have been ruthless but with good reason. He got a grip of the key team and ensured that their best was that final ounce they could muster to materialise the incredible.

Under Cook and Ive it is seemingly clearly that this ability is what is costing Apple it's reputation. I'm embarrassed as a user of Apple products. I said previously at the iOS 8 release that Cook had 1 week to get a grip. He hasn't he won't therefore he needs to go. He won't be an ounce close to ever being SJ.

This has been a damning turn of events. Worst rollout of products and services ever.
Totally agree! Heads should roll at Apple... Starting with Tim and Jony.

I've never called for someone to lose their job before over this type of stuff but whomever was in charge of this OS needs to be axed because they are clearly incompetent.

If you have a problem REPORT IT TO APPLE DIRECTLY. This is how we solve the issue. Complaining about it on a 3rd party internet forum doesn't solve it. They can't fix it if they don't know the problem exists and the more people that report the issue to them, the greater need they'll see to fix it. Don't rely on others to report it for you. It takes less than 2 minutes to report.

yup, BT functionality in my bmw x1 has been awful after ios 8.

this is definitely the most botched ios release ever. i hope that lots of people get fired because this is NOT the apple i know and love. this is microsoft-tier levels of failure

Did you get pulled away before you could finish?

And what is the "huge problem" with videos playing in portrait orientation? Can you elaborate with specific?

ooh, i actually take my previous comment back, my ios8 isn't totally bug free. i have the same issue, where if you rotate a landscape vid (with your screen held horizontally) back into portrait mode, rather than black bars you get a slice of the video top to bottom that takes up the whole screen. also, sometimes the rotation from landscape to portrait or vice versa doesn't work at all until you quit the camera app and launch it again. though i wouldn't call any of that a 'huge problem'

Time to try another operating system on my next device. What happened to apple devices just working together.

iPad Mini also having troubles playing music on my Marshall speakers via bluetooth. The audio chops in and out like a 1990 VCD player trying to run a scratched disc.

This reads like a post from the 90's. Wake up, it's 2014 - that jokes long dead.
