There are tons of graphical glitches and delays. I did a clean install.
If you play a video in safari, and rotate it, the GUI will go insane. Try it.

Sometimes when you send a text, the message bubble will be invisible for a split second.

Pulling down notification center had a delay a lot of the time.

Things crash left and right.

1) Mine rotates a little weird. Video doesn't stay centered but doesn't go insane.

2) Sometimes this happens - doesn't make it unusable tho.

3) Do not see any delay in doing this.

4) Apps will crash until they are updated to support iOS 8.

My 5S ran perfectly on 8.0. I didn't notice any glitches. I just didn't think this was worth loosing my Jailbreak over so I restored this morning.

I'll wait for a JB for 8.0 and then I'll go back.

I just tried the things you mentioned, and didn't have a single problem. Maybe install and set up as a new phone?

Also a reason I downgraded.

I just don't see any compelling reason to move to a buggier OS when the features aren't earth-shattering.

Did a DFU restore from the beginning as a new phone.

Some of you should probably adhere to the "Beta" policy next time... ;)

Except this isn't a "Beta". This is the Golden Master which typically is the same build being released to the public a week after it's seeded to developers. The only time it's not, is when there is a show stopping bug found in the GM after it's release, and so far there are no show debilitating bugs present in the iOS 8 GM. In the case of there being a major bug in the GM seed, then Apple would rectify the issue and seed another GM build to developers, then that would be the one released to the public in the near future.

I have 36 active devices on my developer account. Most of these "problems" the general public complains about are a result of app crashes due to API changes that will be addressed when the developers update their apps for iOS 8, hence the reason Apple advises you not to run a beta iOS until it is released... It has nothing to do with weather or not the beta is a GM candidate.

I did a clean install and setup as a new phone on my 5s A1533 and its definitely laggy, much more than B5 was.

Its "whether" not "weather". ;):p:D

Most of what's mentioned in this thread and a few similar ones doesn't involve third party apps though.

Is it worth it to do a clean install?

In my opinion, no. Look at all the people on this and other threads complaining of bugs, poor battery life and iOS 8 being unusable that have done a clean install (some more than once). It doesn't seem to make any difference to those with problems. I personally have not done a clean install since iOS 4 and have not had any of these problems.

their definition of "clean install' may not mean that they are actually setting up as a new phone WITHOUT restoring from icloud/backups/etc

I haven't had any issues besides Facebook locking up occasionally. I'd attribute this to the app, not iOS 8.

There are so many glitches that I have to downgrade back to 7.1.2 on my 5S.
Anyone else having this issue?

I did an upgrade on my iPhone 5s with the iOS 8 GM. For the most part the phone has been working fine. I did have a few resprings (crash and reboots) when I was using Safari. I also had a few app crashes but I assume that is because those apps haven't been updated for iOS 8 yet. Performance and battery life has been as good as 7.1.2. So it isn't perfect, but not so bad that I would want to go back to 7.1.2. Hopefully 8.01 and app updates will fix the issues I and others have been having. But this is the risk we run when installing pre-release software (even if it is the GM) before devs have a chance to submit their updates for the new version of iOS.

I was on iOS 7.1.1 jailbroken on my iPhone 5s. I did a backup, DFU mode, restore using the iOS 8 GM IPSW, restored from my backup, everything works great (with the exception of some third party apps that haven't been updated)

Ditto, Facebook seems quite buggy and locks up my phone a few times. No doubt will be resolved when their iOS8 compatible-update comes out, hopefully in the next few days.

Two iPhone 5 with ios 8 GM , updated from ios 7.1.2. Faster than ios7, more responsive. No problem.

Agreed. Lots of graphical glitches. For example, the keyboard only pop-ups a few milisecs after opening the app. These kinds of things are all over the place.

Faster and more responsive? I have too an iPhone 5 and my experience with iOS 8 is quite different, sadly. Did a restore from iCloud backup.
