I'm experiencing the exact same issues. Stack + backboardd in the logs and my 5s standby is the same as prior to 8 but battery drops much more quickly when actually using the phone. Pondered doing a clean install but it looks like it may not be of any use. It's also happening to my rMini but with the addition of tons of "JetsamEvent" entries in the diagnostic logs.

Bizarre still is how my iPad Air with GM also has the backboardd process error logs, but excellent battery life. After a full charge while installing, its now been 11 days of reading/browsing (2-3 hours per day) and it's got 55% battery remaining. The 5s on the other hand has rapid battery depletion only during use, as you described.

If there ever were a phantom bug......

Jetsam events seems to be related to low memory. Even j am getting a few but only when m opening multiple apps and safari pages simultaneously.

iOS 8 GM - Strange diagnostic logs?

What is an awdd error what whatever? My Air has excellent battery but sometimes apps will crash. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411306304.981071.jpg

Had these as well on a new i6, coincidentally with "temperature warning" messages on the screen. happened twice today on a new phone, just discovered this thread on my quest to figure out whether it is a software or a hardware issue.

UPDATE: cross-checked on the iPad Air,.. wow. Tons of these messages at various times.

definitely software issue..same as all iPhone 4s,5 and 5s..will be fixed in 8.0.1 i hope..

Same messages on a clean install of iOS 8 on my 5S, but nothing seems to operate differently than iOS 7.

I was playing around with my phone and stumbled upon the new location of diagnostics/usage data (under privacy now). I noticed I had quite a few error logs that started with stacks+backboardd and the date of the error. When I looked into the error logs, they seem to occur around every hour or so, even when my phone is asleep and not doing anything. The error messages all contain something to the effect of:

Watchdog: thermal not updating, backboardd last successful ping...
Thermal data unavailable

These errors show up on both my iPad Air and 5S, which were both fresh installs. Everything on the phone seems to be working but I am curious if anyone else is getting these? I tried searching around but I'm having trouble finding anyone else posting around with this issue.

I am getting exactly the same errors on my iPhone 5

Brand new iPhone 6 16GB and was wondering why the battery life wasn't as good as it should be. Checked the logs and theres easily 30 stacks+backboardd logs. Got the phone on the 22nd. I'm glad its not just me.

Yea, those "stacks+backboardd"-log are pretty strage...
My iPhone 5s is full of them, at least 30 or 40.

Did you open up one of these messages: They seem endless!
So I wonder how much CPU-time (=battery) they consume to be created...

By the way:
Does "send automatically" work for your diagnostic logs?
I thought they are sent when iPhone is idle, WLAN is on and charger is connected? If so, why do I still have diagnostic logs from Sept. 19th on my phone?
I am charging it every night with WLAN on...?

I have 400+ fkn insane. And you have a good point about how much cpu time (read: battery life) is taken just to generate so many endless logs...

I hate to jinx things but I've not had a log since 0017 this morning. Phones been cool and the battery has held up (I did turn off a load of **** yesterday though) quite nicely. Currently sitting on 60% with 3 hours 26 minutes usage and 6 hours 23 minutes standby.

Not seen stacks+backboardd since installing 8.0.2 9/25 3am. Is now 9/26 10pm.
