I updated my mother's iPhone 5 and my Air to iOS 8 and both have the same battery life or better than before (in the case of her iPhone).

However, after the updates I closed all open apps and then I forced a shutdown by holding down the power and home button. I dunno if that's done anything but I always do it after an update to nip battery drains in the bud.

I'm gonna go against the current trend and say I am having no issues with iOS 8, I've had no crashing, and battery life is better than iOS 7, Using iPhone 5 BTW

AirPlay to my AppleTV has been really shaky. Music app shows the time on the song advance, but no sound comes out of my stereo. Then, the connection drops and I have to reconnect and then hit pause and play a few times before I get sound.

I also have issues with wifi on my iphone 5s since I did the upgrade on Saturday, never have experienced them before, it's really annoying:(

Enough of your sarcasm. If it works for you doesn't mean it works equally well for others. Apple uses displays and memories from different manufacturers. So there will always be minor variances even if the specs are totally identical. Hence these issues.

iOS 8 is non-usable on iPad Airs. Most of the complaints on iPads are revolving around disgraceful Safari Mobile performance on it. iPhone 5s and 5c which are last year devices are also running laggy albeit slightly. All the devices are rebooting once or twice a day. That's unacceptable.

conversely, if it doesn't work well for others - why should they say its a completely failed launch? my iPhone 5, installed iOS8 using the best practice through iTunes...is running great. If people who don't like it can come on here and pontificate, so can I about how great it is and how negative people are when its not perfect.

Oh Safari: window.close() no function.

JavaScript function window.close() doesn't work anymore. No fix. No good answers on app dev center. A simple script function.

But Chrome works ....

What a f.... bad thing ...

Got to admit, iOS 8 is probably the most buggiest and unstable version of iOS yet. To say there appears to be very little change from iOS 7, its current state is disappointing indeed.

Even ios 7 gm was much stabler.

Not for me. iOS 8 has been smooth sailing compared to iOS 7. Had numerous apps crashing regularly, and the infamous "white screen of death" every few days until iOS 7.0.4. Except for a couple of problem apps that already performed poorly with iOS 7.1.2, I've not had any major issues with iOS 8 so far.

The faulty 8.0.1 update -- no excuse for that whatsoever. Bugs that affect a small number of users is one thing, but breaking basic functionality for a large cross-section of users is quite another.

I genuinely don't understand how Apple could have messed up so badly with iOS 8.
It has a great number of genuine feature additions... oh, but some of them have feature-killing bugs, are still in beta, won't be available for another month at least etc.
The 8.0.1 update has to be, by far, the worst update Apple have ever produced.
They're going to be losing a lot of trust with this and the bendy iPhone 6 Plus.
I think iOS 8 should have been released in a month's time or thereabouts and the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus could have run something like iOS 7.2, which enabled the larger resolutions.
Really disappointed how this update has turned out so far.

For me iOS 7.0 was pretty stable as my 4S that time was running smooth.

But on iOS 8, both my 5S and iPad Air reboot with blue screen of death.

Apple usually stops firmware signing within two days of next firmware release. But so far they are still signing 7.1.2 says a lot about their own confidence in iOS 8.

I am extremely happy after reverting to 7.1.2 on all iDevices at home and work. Will wait for 0.1 not 0.0.1 update to switch over.

Blind people are really suffering the bugs are worse with voiceover. Sometimes my wife has two different voices going on at the same time

Lol. Only meant in good humor, but that sounds like a problem for a different kind of forum.

But, yes I could see how that would be annoying

Do people experience stuttering and somewhat choppy animations in certain situations such as:

- scrolling through your events in photo app (obviously we are talking about a big library of photos)
- selecting a city from weather app
- scrolling in built in wallpaper page

Please tell it is not just my phone (5s)...

I did a clean install and set up as new, and yet there is some lag/stutter.

It especially bothers me in photo app in the events page. Granted, I have 2,000 pics there, but with ios 7 everything was smooth as butter, while now there are hiccups.

As I software engineer, I just laugh at threads like this with no understanding of softwares. I have none of these issues mentioned on all my devices. Even if I did it's not enough to piss me off and whine knowing apple will do its best to have a quick turn around or update. It's the first release its impossible to be bug free when you have to meet a deadline in releasing the software. No matter how much QA you do before release, some bugs are not discovered until the software is in the hands of end users. Believe me if these bugs were known prior to release they would have been corrected ;) prior to release. Give it some time, it's not like it's unusable.

My new ipod touch with IOS8, which replaced my 3GS with IOS5.1 is extremely twitchy.

It seems the IOS8 "design" makes it very easy for deletions to occur, both within programs, and on the main icon screens.

In addition, the MUSIC program seems de-featured and not as attractive as what I was using before. Also, the photo organization is hopeless. Can't import folders?! These kinds of software "improvements" industry-wide and it's unfortunate that Apple is no longer leading the way in UI.

I've bought a nice case with a cover to prevent a recurrance of accidential deletions while the device is in my pocket, and cause it also felt too thin, as in, easy to drop or break in half.

But I will still have to be careful because it's seems so much easier in IOS8 to accidently swipe/delete in some apps.

Can't wait to start complaining about iOS 9 on this forum. Anyone else in?

Everyone is in.

It happens with every new iOS release.... you have an army - don't worry...

When iOS 7 was released, we had the same frenzied bloodbath on here. Now iOS 8 has been released, people just love iOS 7...

Apple Claims "Unreleased Features" Installed in iOS8 Crashes My Phone

Issues:
- Personal Hotspot turns on when nearby iPAD or Android Tablet are on. Apple claims this is a new feature that is not yet released although it is in the software.
- using Personal Hotspot locks up iPhone 5S 50% of time. Requires reboot with Power and home button.
- No battery drain problems except when Personal Hotspot is turned on by Apple Glitch. Never know when that is going to occur.

Please help me understand something ... in iOS 8, did Apple try to force you to send an iMessage & fall back to sending an SMS only if the recipient is not logged in to Messages?

I do not have an iPhone & have limited time to test it out. But, I am trying to help a family member (running iOS 8) who can no longer text another family member (running iOS 7; refused to upgrade). error: "Message not delivered."

I looked in settings for Messages ... IIRC all I could do was activate an option to send SMS as a backup.

Considering iMessages are global & free, I don't mind. Just seems odd to shove it down users' throats.

Thank you.

My IOS 8 Issues.....

So I have the iPhone 6 and iPad Air. Updated the iPad to IOS 8 and have the following issues:

-Ipad freezes
-Wi-fi drops constantly
-Safari freezes

My phone on the other hand:

-Battery drainage even though I disable stuff running in background
-Mail problems. When I try to read email, it starts asking for all passwords and even though they are correct, it keeps saying they are incorrect.
-Not all pictures in iCloud transferred to phone.
-Spotty Wi-fi
-iMessage not sending all text messages. I never had a problem send my brother, an Android, user a text message with pictures. Now I can't. I can only send text.

its GSM

I have no issues on ios8 with a Ipad 2 and iphone 4S, except for... on the site where i administer my cell phone account, the GSM iphone is identified as
a APPLE IPHONE 4S CDMA, with ios7 it was identified correctly as a GSM phone. Its model A1387. Just a little something to fix on 8.0.3 apple techs ;)
