So I have the iPhone 6 and iPad Air. Updated the iPad to IOS 8 and have the following issues:

-Ipad freezes
-Wi-fi drops constantly
-Safari freezes

My phone on the other hand:

-Battery drainage even though I disable stuff running in background
-Mail problems. When I try to read email, it starts asking for all passwords and even though they are correct, it keeps saying they are incorrect.
-Not all pictures in iCloud transferred to phone.
-Spotty Wi-fi
-iMessage not sending all text messages. I never had a problem send my brother, an Android, user a text message with pictures. Now I can't. I can only send text.

Yeah I'm having constant wifi issues with my iPad . So frustrating. No issues with my iPhone 6 however.

Terrible, spotty wifi, missing photos and my flash no longer works for my camera or my flashlight. So annoyed:mad:

I have no issues on ios8 with a Ipad 2 and iphone 4S,

....no issues on iPad 2??!

My iPad 2 (wifi only edition) is majorly slow now on iOS8. To be fair, it wasn't that fast on iOS7 either (it was super fast on iOS6 though!!), but since installing iOS8 on it, sometimes it crawls at a snails pace!

When I am typing on the keybaord (both in safari and when sending emails and iMessages), the keyboard lags so that I have to wait for my button presses to register!

Opening and closing apps - major lag! I have tried turning animations on and off but this makes no difference. When the zoom animation trys to work (when you tap on a folder and it zooms into the folder), it just stutters.

The Facebook app sometimes crashes to a black screen.

Also in safari, the web pages seem to 'bounce' around a little! Difficult to explain but when I'm viewing a website (like MacRumors for instance), the threads don't want to stay in the middle of the iPad screen and want to bounce left and right when I touch the screen!

Another think in safari - when you scroll down, the top of the screen, minimizes (so you lose the search bar at the top) - is this a feature?!!!

IOS 8 makes me want to get rid of my Apple products

I agree with Dini F. My Ipad 2 (wifi) is drastically slower since installing 7&8. Safari & the keypad locks up as well as many other issues. It's the same thing that happened to my old Iphone 3 when they updated to 4! My 5s's seem to be a little slower.

As I software engineer, I just laugh at threads like this with no understanding of softwares. I have none of these issues mentioned on all my devices. Even if I did it's not enough to piss me off and whine knowing apple will do its best to have a quick turn around or update. It's the first release its impossible to be bug free when you have to meet a deadline in releasing the software. No matter how much QA you do before release, some bugs are not discovered until the software is in the hands of end users. Believe me if these bugs were known prior to release they would have been corrected ;) prior to release. Give it some time, it's not like it's unusable.

There is a world of difference between "impossible to be bug free" and the myriad of problems that many people (except you) are having. iOS8 was rushed out, not ready.

My 1st iPad's were both purchased with iOS 5 and I can remember keyboard lag as well on certain websites. So iOS 7/8 may make it worse but it was already there. In Safari if I turn off Javascript the lag goes completely away and my iPad 2 is running iOS 7.

And me.

The battery life on IOS 8.0.1 seemed stellar. I just plugged my 5S into the charger. 20 hours on standby, almost 4 hours usage @58%.

Wifi "slowdown" issue has been mostly mitigated. There was nothing inherently wrong with the rollout of IOS 8 that seemingly random issues didn't seem to be present for IOS 6 and IOS 7.

What I don't understand is how this little faux-paux with an OTA update slipped through quality control of disabling cellular service.

My ipad 2 is faster on IOS 8 than IOS 7. The slight lag in safari on IOS 7 seems to be gone.

....what do you mean by that - how can you turn it off?

Do you guys think ios 8 will ever run as smooth as 7.1.2 on the iphone 5? I had to rollback after one day because of battery life over LTE and safari slowness and other choppy animations and way less apps being held in memory.

I didn't forget. I've been with the iPhone since the original and upgrade every iteration. But, for some reason, iOS 8 has been the worst out of all the updates.

Likewise. I didn't have issues with iOS 7. iOS 8, however... phew...
So many user experience bugs. By far the worst initial release. It feels like an early beta version. That's how bad it is right now.
And yes, I'm referring to my use of iOS 8 on multiple devices - iPad mini Retina and iPhone 6.

Well iOS8 is running fine on my iPhone 5 currently....

What is happening at Apple....

What is going on. iOS 8 has been a nightmare for some of my family members. After it was launched they warned us not to upgrade to the iCloud Drive... see "Read these 6 warnings before you update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 8" Then the fiasco with the 8.1 fix.

So I ask again, what is going on. One of the selling points that won me over to Apple was the "It just works" mantra. But that just isn't the case these days. Think about the 9/9/14 Keynote streaming mess. Cook needs to "Jobs" Up and bring some of that tough guy leadership that kept Excellence in every attribute of their products.

Its a disaster from the point of view Apple should maintain they're better than anyone else. Right now they have a lot of reputation to build back... AND MAINTAIN!

and now iOS 8.0.2

Well after pulling 8.1... we have 8.0.2. I'm updating now and hope nothing gets screwed up.... Please just work... please just work.

I pay $99 a year to be a registered Apple developer. I have been running iOS 8 since June. I have reported bugs, sent logs, and even used the Apple Dev forum to both help and get help. After all of this, how the hell can Apple release such a bad firmware to the public? It blows my mind that they can go through all of this extensive testing and then still manage to screw up cellular service with the FIRST update following the release. Blows my freakin mind.

To be honest, a lot of things have bypassed QA recently and it's sad to see that Apple is screwing up real hard. One thing you have to keep in mind is that they get millions or requests everyday, so if yours isn't a dire fix, they don't give a ****.

ios 8 issues noticed on iPhone 5S

Am new to the forum, so hello :)

Updated my iPhone 5S to ios 8. Here's s summary of issues I've noticed:

Music: Selecting a song to play will actually play the next song in the list instead of the one I selected.

SMS: On occasions, it does not let me reply to an iMessage via standard SMS, for example if don't have a good signal and iMessage isn't available, I simply can't reply.

Safari: Some mobile websites I am used to using load up far too wide. I have to tilt the phone to landscape and then back again for them to adjust. These mobile optimised sites still look OK when I look at them via Chrome on the handset, it's only Safari where they appear a bit odd.

Search: The search screen (the one you get to by swiping down from the home screen) will sometimes find no results for anything even when you are searching for known apps/setttings etc.

Freezing: Lots of freezes/delays.

I wondered if anyone else had experienced any of the above? About to upgrade to 8.0.2 so will see if these get fixed...

Oh and battery life.... Was at 100% when I left home this morning. Watched approx 30 mins of Netflix over 4G and now at 31%. Maybe that's normal. Not great, though.

Couldn't agree more with the thread title :)

It is why I have stuck to iOS 5 actually after all these years....Any iOS after 5 just got worse and added no new features I wanted/needed.

It's not only about the features. It's also about security issues. Hope you don't get the "Heartbleed".
And you're missing out on a lot.

Guys do you get some stutter on safari when double taping in order to zoom closer to a part you want to read?

It only happens when double taping in order to zoom. If I use pinch it is smooth as butter.

:( After downloading IOS 8 on my iphone 5, i'm unable to get alerts to my whats up, mail etc when the screen is locked. Can you please suggest a remedy? When the screen is unlocked, I get alerts. What could be the problem?

Safari becomes unresponsive a lot on my iPhone 5 and my wife's 5S. It is ******.
