But after reading through this thread I did a Network Settings reset. WOW...A night and day improvement. I'd suggest that as a 1st step as it is a simple task, especially compared to a restore.

Could you elaborate please? My 5S is pretty laggy even after a clean install, especially the weather app. When I pinch in and out it lags so badly, like 5FPS. Could you please explain exactly what you did? Thanks!

I went into Settings ---> General ---> Reset ---> Reset Network Settings. The device then reboots.

After the reboot, you need to go to Settings ---> WiFi and enter in your router info again (and you'll need to do this for any other routers you connect to in the future as your past history is now erased).

I noticed a pronounced improvement on my iPad Air. The iPad was extremely laggy before the reset.

I have not noticed much change on my iPhone 5 although it was fine before the network reset anyhow.

Wish I hadnt upgraded

Slowed my 5S to a crawl most of the times and constantly freezing the screen. Biggest mistake I ever made upgrading to IOS 8

Generally you should not update your device until it is tested by users. Especially when your device is the older generation to support the software, I will not update my 4s to 8, as iPhone 4 owners should not have updated to iOS 7.

Hard to say. They see that 1 GB is enough it seems. RAM is far from everything, especially when hardware overall and the OS overall are controlled by the same manufacturer and can be optimized.

You're right...it's only part of the equation but a lot of weight is centred on the RAM, especially with resource hungry apps and for those who either multitask or have multiple apps or tabs open in safari or whatever browser they're working on. There is nothing worse when you run out of memory and your apps crash.

I suppose Apple's demographics tells them that the vast majority of iPhone users are not power users and for the most part, most people buy the Apple iPhone merely because of looks or because it's trendy....as recent events shown with the purchase of the iPhone 6 around the world.

I wish media, journalists, bloggers would "say it like it is" instead of sugar coating the issues with iOS 8. However, having said that. I am surprised that your 5S took such a beating.

My 5s has been running great.

Once I quit using Safari and switched to Mercury browser, my iPad 4 is running very nice as well. Here's hoping the future 8 updates will improve it.

How does the demand show that most buy it because of looks or because it's trendy and not because of many other different reasons or combinations of them?

a few days ago someone went around our workplace and asked what it was like and from their data of approx 200 users found that iOS8 on an A5 device is slow as a month of wet sundays

[/COLOR]It is very laggy! Wifi and internet connection has been really2 bad eversince i upgraded it to iOS 8.02 on my iphone5s.. I thought it was just due to the local network but i've been seeing many users facing the same thing too! My another iphone5 with an older iOS is working perfectly fine. Other than that my iphone5s have been heating up all of the sudden so often every single day. I can fry an egg on it if i could! It's really terrible. I never overcharged it before.
Also, i don't have many apps, i don't play games or even have songs/videos downloaded to my phone. So there is really no reason for my iphone5s to be this slow and laggy!

Apple should really do something about this!

iOS8 is bad on my iPad Air and iPhone 5s, compared to iOS7. In addition to being laggy, Safari crashes and freezes more than what I have experienced before. Embedded videos won't play all the time, on some websites, that worked fine on iOS7. It is annoying. What is just as annoying is that so many people seem to selectively ignore these types of issues when they criticize other systems for the same problems. I never have nearly as many issues with other browsers on other systems like Internet Explorer and Firefox.
