I came to see if there was a specific thread for bugs in ios8 and I guess this is as good as any. Maybe I shouldn't be so frustrated that os8 on my iPad 2 has frozen safari multiple times while typing, as well as web formatting has been off a few times not making it possible to resize and fit the webpage to screen as well as not being unable to select links on sites.
I don't really use my iPad but for Internet mail, books and AirPlay (also not working) I'm interested to see if it's slowed down games I ised to play.

Me. No lag really, but apps like facebook tend to freeze and Safari too sometimes.

Overall slightly worse than iOS 7 then? I might wait for a point upgrade or not even bother... doesn't have any features I need. It is nice to have the latest though!

Worse than 7 I would say in terms of overall performance. it just feels a tad bit different, like it's not as fluid.

I found why my iphone was laggy as hell yesterday. It happened only while i was using it and it was also plugged in my mac (charging).... did anyone experienced sth similar?

I installed iOS 8 OTA as an upgrade, and my iPad Air was very laggy, studdering all over the place. I was planning to do a full restore.

But after reading through this thread I did a Network Settings reset. WOW...A night and day improvement. I'd suggest that as a 1st step as it is a simple task, especially compared to a restore.

(My iPhone 5 is a bit laggy as well, but I haven't used it as much as the iPad since the upgrade. I will reset the NW settings on that as well and hope to see an improvement.)

Guys are you getting keyboard rotation lag when in messages app? I mean the animation is choppy when rotating the keyboard. Does it happen to ipad air and iphone 5s as well?

Turning off transluscency helps but thats a poor work around for me. Any thoughts?

I updated 2x iPhone 5's, 1x iPad Mini Retina and 1x iPhone 4s.

ALL devices showed a significant speed reduction. What the **** is going on?

Even my A7 iPad Mini is lagging at most tasks. BTW, its a fresh restore as well so the update is not the problem, its iOS 8.

Its absolutely atrocious. How the heck can Apple release an update like this?

It's so laggy in many places. Pulling up multitasking and it lags a bit, stuttering.

Apps launch a bit delayed, safari actions are a bit slow (but actual web browsing is really fast)

Why did Apple release an unfinished OS?

All new big updates are going to have their glitches and bugs, that's just how it works. No huge update comes out completely ready for use of all devices and guarantees 100% fully functional with no bugs or problems. There will be more update to come in the future like 8.1 and 2 and those will fix all the problems it has now.

It happens on iPad air as well.

My phone has become almost unusable about half the time. FB in particular, but safari is also a problem. Very frustrating. It just hangs forever, and it's verys sluggish. Hoping to get my 6 today and give my 5 to my wife, at which point I will wipe it clean and start from scratch. Hopefully that will solve some of the problems. And I anticipate an update within the next week or two.

When you first use it, your apps are still copying over preferences and a lot of first time setup events are occurring in the background. That's why it seems slow at first.

Planned obeslecence. Apple are the worst for it. Each new OS for your device makes it slower and slower until a new device seems appealing.

I reverted my iPad 2 to 7.1.2, on which it runs perfectly, may be the end of the line for iOS upgrades for me on that device.

Transitions, etc. were sporadically laggy/draggy. I turned on reduce motion and it was somewhat better but still not great.

Pronounced delay in the keyboard appearing on an iPad rMini. This is the case with both the stock keyboard and SwiftKey.

Other than that, all appears pretty snappy, but this really is an irritating one.

It is to me and I have fresh installed several times. It's more laggy than the kid's sgs2 with android (was mine once).

Or basically reality that each version has more and more newer stuff in it that uses more and more resources which becomes more and more noticeable on older hardware.

Seeing poor performance in the photos app on the iPad Air. Using the camera connection kit to import photos, the preview takes much longer than it did in IOS 7. Import time remains the same though but when it comes to view the images, it takes looking at a few photos before things settle down and are smooth. If you go back out a level to see a bunch of images then go back into another photo to start swiping though images, the stuttering and lag is back for a bit. A real backwards step compared to IOS 7.

There is occasional (albeit rare) lag on the iPhone 6 UI. It's a .0 release. Maybe they will improve performance later like they did with iOS 7.1.

It all but ruined my iPad 3, praying for iOS 8.1. What's irksome (and surprising) is that iOS 7.1 ran quite well (for me at least). Since iOS 8 introduced no new visual overhead I expected performance to be more or less the same.

Yes, I did a completely clean install.

Sure. When over half of the new features don't even make it to older handsets. Becuase of 'hardware limitations' so there is no excuse. Hell, Siri didn't even make it to the iPhone 4 for no apparent reason. I jailbroke and Siri functioned perfectly. Well, as perfectly as Siri can function anyway.

Not sure about over half new features not making it to older phones. Some features don't, and mostly because of hardware not being able to support it at all or well.

If you do a backup from your PC you will have no choice but to update. iTunes does this automatically.

Very true...so why didn't Apple upgrade the RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB then?

Hard to say. They see that 1 GB is enough it seems. RAM is far from everything, especially when hardware overall and the OS overall are controlled by the same manufacturer and can be optimized.
