Fast and smooth on my old iPad 2, no lagging. Safari seems even a bit faster than 7.1.2

Happy with the upgrade.

He did let it happen. iOS updates have always crippled older devices.

Agreed, that's what happened with my iPod Touch 4G. He was up and about when they messed up my device.

Of course, there were some folk who didn't notice any difference (like with the iPhone 4S and iOS 7) but later it was shown that the 4S indeed did take a huge hit in the performance department with iOS 7. Some people just don't notice things as others do.

I definitely noticed, my 4S is now awfully laggy after iOS 8 installation. Wasn't good either on 7.1.2 but definitely feels now "downgraded". My other phone 1st gen Moto G feels now super fast compared to my 4S. I haven't never done a clean install so don't know if it could help.

My facebook took another restart to start working. iMovie wouldn't update because it said this app is no longer available. It finally worked this morning. Also, YouTube is jacked up. Take a look.

I have iphone 5 and iPad 4. Iphone is about the same as ios7, but ipad 4 I feel is improved. Just feels faster.

Did you do a clean install on the iPad 4, or OTA, or something else?

Just ota no clean install. I honestly don't think it makes a difference. I first upgraded my iPhone 5 without a clean install and it's no different performance wise

On my iPhone 5s things are pretty good.

On iPad Air there are lots of very small issues that lead to a poor experience. Spotlight does seems to appear with a proper transition. Flickering after app switching. Delayed response to scrolling when apps first loaded. Back ground image stuttering in parallax. I'm sure there are a few others too but all in all this is probably the worst release I can recall lag wise. Hopefuly 8.1 comes soon and addresses this.

Also the number of small functional/usability bugs is really suprising. I ran the beta versions last year and was they seemed less buggy. In a days use I have already experienced between 5-10 minor bugs.

It's terrible on my iPad 3 after a clean install. I can't believe how bad.

The Mail app freezes.
I can't delete from Safari Reading list.
After tapping the Safari address field sometimes the bookmarks popup won't go away.
Safari is noticeably slower.
LAG:
*Pressing the power button sometime results in a few second delay before the screen comes on.
*Double clicking the home button or using the four finger gesture results in a few second delay before the app launch is activated and it's so laggy that the animation is usually absent.
*Scrolling in Safari freezes
*I tapped an app icon which darkened for three seconds before the opening animation.

I have never complained because of an iOS update, but this was ridiculous.

Updated my iPhone 5 and iPad Air. My iPhone 5 was running a bit hot after the update, then I restart the phone, it's been working fine since then. iOS8 update on my iPad Air went effortlessly. :D

I installed it on my iPad 3 and although i've not used it loads since it seemed fine with the bits i did do on it.
