I hope they do something unique here. Kinda like control center was not just toggles in notification center.

Hopefully they make it actually useful unlike Windows 8.

Yep. I got tired of sharing my iPad and having kids apps filling it up so I got a cheap android tablet for the kid. No way I would spend the money to buy an iPad for a little kid. She's lucky to have a cheap android tablet. Multiple accounts could have helped keep me from buying an android tablet...

But… You still have the iPad, and there are probably people in your situation who would cave and buy their kids another iPad instead of an alternative tablet. This part is pure speculation, but if you upgrade your iPad to another iPad, then your anecdote doesn’t indicate any hurt to Apple (since even if they’d given you what you wanted, that wouldn’t have resulted in another iPad sale).

Now if you’re so annoyed with Apple that you buy yourself an Android tablet to replace the iPad, your story would indicate potential lost sales for Apple. As it is, it’s kinda just a nice story. But thanks for sharing.

I'm still waiting on Apple to do something simple. I want to be able to use my iPad camera to redeem iTunes cards just like I can do with my Mac's camera. Should be super simple to do and very widely used

Wrong

The next iPad will have multitasking by having a screen on both sides, one app on each. They can then be flipped by flipping the iPad or by squeezing both sides simultaneously. Patent alert!!

You can already redeem a gift card using the iPad camera.

Well that certainly wouldn't work in a school or enterprise environment. And no I wouldn't disclose my password to toher family members or they would just go on my account and not their own! Thus making separate user accounts pointess!

Those who log on to other users accounts must receive a smack in the back of the head.

I'd buy a Macbook Air with a touch screen and a detachable keyboard in an instant.

Make it run iOS when undocked from a keyboard and OSX when docked. Merge the filesystems such that you can open the same pages document in iOS/OSX. Would be a good product for sure.

Could you please elaborate what is so un-useful about Windows 8 split-screen multitasking?

I didn't know Apple was going to start copying Samsung Tablets...

Well, only Apple can copy others.

Anyone copying Apple - well, that's a sin worse than anything scribbled into any religious text...

I'm surprised Samsung didn't patent the split screen multitasking...

Heck, given how long Apple lagged on any form of multitasking (even downloading updates in the background), this turnaround is certainly interesting...

I have heard this sentiment expressed several times not just about iPad but, tablets in general. While I find android to be anti-intuitive which is a hindrance to productivity, iOS is very powerful and intuitive. What exactly do you want to do with your iPad that you can't do right now? I am just curious cause I use my iPad for almost everything and my laptop sits on my desk simply as a hub for my files that I mostly access with the iPad.

I just don't use it! Kind of a shame, really! So far, the only real difference I've noticed between my iPhone and my iPad mini is that the iPad mini is much more comfortable to use because it has a bigger screen and I can read things easier. It really just feels like a toy to me. I end up using my MacBook loads more than either device.

Fair point. Still if apple is hoping that by not allowing multiple accounts will cause people to buy their kids another iPad - many won't. I guess enough will that it's worth it to apple. Thanks for caring that I shared.

Well you make valid points but what he's saying and what you're arguing are two different things.

He is talking about the apparent wishy washy flippy floppiness of the very vocal blind faith followers that up their post counts by posting derogatory one-liners aimed at other tech companies, like:

Followed by this a few months later (not necessarily the same poster):

He's got a fair point, even though I still haven't seen that elusive caught in the act full on flip flop by the same poster, though I've already stated I would love to see it. #

On the other hand, you're talking about Apple's apparent astute ability to release fully mature sets of features that actually address solutions to existing problems, and their ability to implement new technologies in a more seamless, user-friendly, and most importantly, useful, way. I think you both agree on this point, I agree with you both.

The vast majority of my post was explaining how it makes sense why people change their position over time. With the march of progress of technology, it would be odd to hold the same opinion over time.

Make it run iOS when undocked from a keyboard and OSX when docked.

That sounds great in theory, but what if you're using an iOS app that doesn't have an OSX equivalent?

And before this could even be attempted, iOS would have to be re-written for x86, or they'd have to somehow use two different CPUs in the same device...

I want this! But I worry that this is exactly how Apple will implement it, limiting us to "compatible apps."
I want to be able to open two apps side by side or two email messages. Drag and drop would be some blue crystal kind of icing.
It just does not, at this point, seem like too much of a desktop feature.

Somewhat underwhelmed with the method of invoking the second app, would have preferred to not leave the main screen/app and have some drag & add method to bring up the second screen - like a mini version of the main apps menu screen (iphone size for example) to select the second app.

Reasons are simple, having to call up seconds screens etc. to add the app in a world of windows, pop'ups and dialog boxes is somewhat old school imho.

Right now the majority of posters don't like Beats headphones. Let's see what the majority post in a few months. :) That's what I'm talking about with the other examples I gave previously and it's a pattern that has repeated itself over and over since I've been here. The opinion does a 180 as soon as Apple does what was disliked previously.

You mean that the majority likes and approves what Apple is doing? Yes, great, I agree. And if it's really "the majority" it shouldn't be THAT difficult to find those overlapping posters who "change their opinion" and use them as an explicit example, don't you think?
Luckily enough a lot of people prefer to discuss positive things over negative ones, that could be one of the reasons why new features are very welcomed on here as opposed to the pathetic "samsung.. steal... bla" stuff (from both sides)

And hopefully multi user accounts.

So, multi user accounts and on screen multitasking... I guess next is "live" icons (they could even change their name to "tiles"!). Apple, please take us to the future!!

Microsoft, as usual playing catch up. Haha! Wait!!, it is Apple we are talking about, catching up with Windows 8.
And we KNOW Apple never copies from lesser companies. Is the universe going to implode? :D

----------

It's a windows 8 feature. Personally I can't see much advantage but sure, could be cool to run two apps really laggy on my iPad 3. Lolz.

We'll see in the iPad, but in Microsoft's Surface 2 side by side apps run great. I can type an email while reading another one, or one website or whatever, for example.
