Where did I say that there wasn't a demand for this?Look through just this thread, and tell me if you don't see demand for this. Ask any parent you know with an iPad if they'd like switchable profiles for their stuff vs. their kids stuff.

This is not fair.... And when Apple "does" add feature for split screen, its implemented very poorly ?
Why must you go via the task switcher and then add want you want to split ?
Too much effort.. how about an easy flick in an app to have split screen ?
I could say really great things Apple does for iOS, but this implementation is not one of them.
Give me more RAM, a better battery and the OS X like fullscreen swiping between running apps and I'd take that over this "multitasking".

You mean like the four finger swipe you can use on the iPad to switch between apps?
I am jailbroken, so I might get that. Is there much lag (above what is already there)?
(2) Sure, if you have 4 kids that would be tough. But how old are we talking? How about an iPad for each when they reach a certain age. @ $250 per iPad, you'd spend $1000 (plus tax) and assuming your kids are 2 years apart you could spread that $1000 over 8 years.
Unfortunately Apple doesn't make a laptop with a touchscreen and detachable keyboard.
So you're trying to point out that at some point some people had an opinion and at another point other people had a different opinion. Thanks for pointing that out.
Sounds like what you really need is a MacBook Air.
That's so painfully obvious I'm surprised that anyone would disagree.Right now the majority of posters don't like Beats headphones. Let's see what the majority post in a few months. That's what I'm talking about with the other examples I gave previously and it's a pattern that has repeated itself over and over since I've been here. The opinion does a 180 as soon as Apple does what was disliked previously.

I do share my tablet with my parents and roomate. When I do, I want multi-users support. Why in the earth both Android and Windows can do this, but Apple cannot do this?
Are you seriously asking that question?
Well is a personal computer really personal?
Yeah, we're nit talking about a phone are we?
I think so. In an obtuse way I was agreeing with you. Those things that I listed (along with multi-user profiles) are things that many have requested that Apple implement. In each of those instances, there's a segment of Apple fandom that dismisses those things (and anything that Apple hasn't implemented) as not being part of the purpose of the device. Then I missed your point entirely. <woosh!> Mea culpa.
what is the reliability of 9to5mac?
Someone will soon talk about a lack of RAM...... :?
I agree. If it's one thing that's not gonna help iPad sales, it's support for multiple accounts.
Did I say that multitasking hasn't been done well on any platform? Or are you just trying out your troll-fu?
Most true multitasking solutions I have seen have not been done well.
Surface allows you to put up a thin bar as a second screen, minimizing what you're able to do with it.
Surface Pro adds the option of having multiple windows up on the non-tablet optimized desktop, but everything ends up being too small to work effectively. All the tablets running Windows 8.1 have this problem.
Samsung's music player option allows you to keep the music player on top while working apps in the background. This isn't better than Apple's solution in iOS 7 where you can swipe up to control your music player. Apple's advantage is that you don't have a screen overlaying what you're trying to do.
I do like Samsung's S-Note application. Being able to bring up a note pad so I can take some notes without having to switch back and forth between apps would be nice.
A failing on the part of both Samsung and Surface is that many of their screen elements are so small you need a stylus to navigate the OS. That has always been something I've liked on the iPad is that everything is built to be controlled with finger gestures. If I have to hold my tablet with one hand and manipulate it with a stylus, I would rather just jump on the desktop computer.
Samsung's 12.2" tablet allows four windows to be open at the same time, so you can monitor email or keep an eye on your calendar. In both cases I prefer Apple's notification system. Any email, text, or calendar entry can pop up a reminder when I want, or I can swipe down to open the notification center and see my calendar for the day plus any notifications I want. I can't imagine having four screen open at one time, even on a 12 inch tablet, would be easy to deal with. I will sometimes have that many windows open on my 27" iMac. If the elements and text were any smaller, it would be more trouble than it's worth to have that many windows open.
This is just my read on things. I haven't used Samsung (or other android) tablets, so I'm just going on what I can see online. I do use a Surface Pro, so I think my opinion there is valid.
I'll tell you one thing that's not gonna help iPad sales. It's when users who want multiple accounts get annoyed and end up buying an android or amazon tablet. Obviously there are users who want it, "but Apple intends " isn't an excuse.
I'd be happy if Safari could cache more than 3 tabs without reloading or crashing on the iPad.
