No multitasking (as in true multitasking / two apps side by side) again.

Maybe a next generation feature along with more RAM.

Other than that, I'm very pleased overall and Apple exceeded my expectations - multitasking aside.

My mind is also blown. Not for iOS 8, but for people who got their mind blown with this update :)

It might not be the case for iPhone users but, as an iPad user, the only thing I've found really useful in this update is the new dynamic notifications. Everything else, meh. Nothing new in the core of the OS.

I thought it was pretty meh. Just seemed to be attacking Android and then in the next breath copied some of things Android has had forever.

Am i the only one who thinks that iOS8 didn't seem like it had anything big or major other than the messaging app updates which are very good to get out of group messaging and all that, the pics update I am still unclear on? I thought all pics we take always end up in iCloud, lost me there. Did not really see anything else?

Classic Apple fans - quick reply, predictive typing - "innovation!"

A lot of us here like what Android is doing.

Except we don't like Android, nor do we like the hardware the manufacturers are releasing.

Now we can have our cake and eat it too. :D

The whole continuity thing, while perhaps not something everyone needs or can use, is surely a big change at the core. Shared documents is another one. Third party keyboards and (limited) widgets in notification center is rather big. There are quite a few things that have been talked about by users for years that are finally here it seems. That's rather big, even if not everyone might care about all of them.

Maybe the consumer facing things aren't mind blowing, but the developer features... You've got to be joking? The voice-automated home automation features alone are mind blowing. That is the future, and that is one thing that Android doesn't do yet.

I'm not going to claim that these new features are actually "new", but the reason why I prefer iOS is that I vastly prefer the way Apple implements what few features they actually do include. So, good for you Android people- keep happily plugging away at the features you've always had. I really don't care, and neither should you care about iOS 8.

It's like some people have been bottling up irrational frustration and are experiencing euphoria that they get to shovel e-crap in the face of people that are excited about the future of iOS. More power to you if that's how you get your kicks, I'll be over here enjoying my new-to-me OS.

I say WOW, WOW - a lot of people thought 8 would only have small tweeks - it is as big as any and some great features - the sharing ability between devices and applications is huge - almost like having one device with multiple screens and keyboards.

Yes android has most of these but they dont offer a good experience like the iOS does. All things I've been asking for so count me a happy customer.

Yep, they have added a lot of things but most of them are useful only for specific type of users and not everyone. Not that I'm surprised though, this was exactly what I've been expecting. No disappointments.

Not sure about document sharing though. It seems like a crude alternative to adding a file manager. But I don't know much details about it yet.

and on blackberry before android.

Heck, it was on my ancient Nokia 3360.

Very true. It's exciting that I as an iOS user finally can do certain things I've wanted

What about maps? No mention of maps?

I'm surprised not too much Maps/iTunes Radio mention?
How not mindblowing iOS 8 is is mindblowing itself.

No mention of innovation - just excitement as it's finally coming to iOS. Thanks for the investigative statement but it hasn't worked :)

Your mind is blown by things Android has had for some time now.

Very true. They have had it for quite a while now it's just that we (iOS) can finally have it. For that, I am excited!

I'll let you know in June, 2015. I promise.

To be honest, it's a refinement of iOS 7. But isn't that what we wanted anyways? We all got the features we've wanted for a while with hopefully some of the common bugs of iOS 7 fixed up.

It's nice Apple listened to the jailbreak community cause that's where all of these came from. Still a way to go, but they are getting there.

Actually, Apple copied Android on this. Again. Timmy can harp about how many people may be still using older versions of Android (due to keeping older phones), but those older versions are still by and large ahead of IOS.

iOS 8. The most advanced mobile OS. Catching up to things others have been doing for years.

Such a yawn fest of a presentation.

Some might be limited to some people, others are generally useful. And, yeah, if the expectations were realistic as yours sound, then this shouldn't disappoint.

BEFORE:

Multiple keyboards, WHY!? Apple's keyboard is perfect, Swipe is useless!

Widgets? What for? You can just go into the app, they waste battery!

AFTER:

OMG, multiple keyboards is fantastic! That Swipe thing is amazing!

I always said Widgets are awesome and necessary! I'm glad Apple finally invented them in iOS.

Anyway, with that out of the way. It's an OK update, the developer and behind the curtains updates are FAR more impressive than user updates. SDK and APIs are very impressive.

There is still no way to set default applications
Delete/Hide stock applications
No Data usage monitor
No Multitasking gestures - Zephyr
And most importantly, there is no access to files.

Well, that's a matter of opinion. I have a Moto X with the latest version of Android and an iPhone 5S with the latest verision of iOS, and I consider my iPhone to be a much better experience in both software and hardware. The few things I like better about Android are now a part of iOS 8, so for me Android is pretty much out of the picture unless I'm wooed by future hardware. The one and only thing I like better about Android now is the ability to set default apps.

Your mind is blown by things Android has had for some time now.

Yes, you are right. I have almost all these (except airdrop I think) on my galaxy S5. Problem though is, as you can imagine, is no where as smooth and stable as iOS on iOS device. Sluggish, screen becomes unresponsive for quite many seconds in total darkness, battery heats up, and quite few other issues in less then a month! And it's not my first Android device.

Now the thing is, Android was and it will be many steps ahead of iOS on things that it can do. iOS was and it will be miles ahead on things that can do much better.

Just freaking awesome. Nothing revolutionary but when apple do incorporate what's already out there they do it with simplicity and a nice touch to it. I simply hate ANDROID for its bloatness and lack of user ease of use when using device.
