I'm suprised to see this. This unfortunately means that iOS 8.0 will run slower than 7.0 in all devices. Otherwise they wouldn't have removed iPad 3 support.

iPad 3's real name is "iPad with Retina Display (3rd generation)".

A Samsung Galaxy S5 replaced my iPhone 5S.

Did I see enough today in terms of software to pull me back to iOS? Very possible. I like what I see in terms of ecosystem, inter-app communication, notification center, and widget support.

All around, I am very pleased. There is a lot more to iOS8 than I thought there would be. It looks very powerful in fact, especially considering where iOS has come from previously.

iOS on a 5.5" iPhone would easily replace my S5. A 4.7" iPhone 6 would be 50/50.

On a ranking scale, I give iOS 8 an 8/10.

I believe people are skipping the most important feature: Extensions. This can be huge provided people develop for it. Not sure what is the range that it can be used to change the OS itself but can be huge

Same deal here but I am definitely going back! Not to mention that if there are more than 2 iPhones in a group text with my Andriod, I don't see anymore texts because they start to go through as iMessages. I knew I should have never left but I am hoping that the iPhone 6 is comparable in size to the Galaxy s5. Its going to be hard giving up this screen!

With iCloud photo. If you delete the photo from your phone does it still remain I'm iCloud photo?

What no IR blaster ? Why wouldnt the implement this ? Its basically a fixture these days on every phone except iphone

This was almost all a software release, that is a hardware issue. I would say wait till the iPhone 6 announcement to find out.

Yes, and it seems like they didn't write the generation number there on purpose. And it's not supported, I checked the download list at the developer portal. By "iPad with retina display" they refer to what people call as iPad 4, and not the previous generations.

As I said, there isn't a download link for it a the dev portal because it is not supported. These are the supported tablets

What is iPad Wifi 3rd Generation then?

Sure other devices have it. Apple hasn't done it first but it's nice to finally have it.

So Apple are copying.

Strange how when Samsung copy Apple the forums are up in arms, but when Apple copy Android, it's "nice".

These days? Heh, my WinMo phones had IR blasters. It's far from a cutting edge feature. Apple simple has no interest in implementing it in their hardware. And why would they when their own TV device can be controlled over WiFi? Plus there are third party peripherals that add the functionality.

iOS 7/iOS 8 now feels complete. This year is a hardware year, though. iOS 9 will be even better next year. Sweet release! Most of the small little things we wanted, we have now!

If it's a hardware year, and after announcing what they did today on the software side, I can't wait to see what the new iDevices look like.

Holding on tight to my Apple stock holdings this year. Looks like a great year!

I think whether they copied it from somewhere or not is not our problem. It's the alleged "original developer" of the feature in question who has the right to complain about it. As long as they make their products better for the users, it's ok for both Apple and Google. I always support copying a good feature from another platform.

Can I save a file to a common documents directory yet?

Can I Reply All to an existing email and insert a file yet?

Question 1: Yes, iCloud Drive. Look at how they show it on their website:

If that isn't a file system, I don't know what is.

Question 2: I hope so but am not sure.

That's not a file system it works the same way as Dropbox. A file system would not force you to put everything to a Cloud via internet connection.

Their solution to the file manager problem is the document sharing feature. We'll still gonna have to use an app such as Goodreader or Documents as a hub other apps can read from or write to, but at least now it is possible once the developers update their apps to support this feature.

Autocorrect probably still going to be terrible.

Interested to see how the music app is too.

You Apple lot are hilarous. Years of crying "Samesung" but when the tables turn, it's apparently not your problem.

Double standards.

Apple lot? Lol I have an Android based phone and an iOS based tablet. So I'm among no ones lot. Clearly I can't say the same thing for you :)

Even if I were using only iOS based devices, I wouldn't give a rats ass about either Apple or Google since none of them gives me a cut from their sales.

Yes, I think if you took the time to read the post then you'd realize that I agree with you. Samsung, Android, Nokia, X, Y whoever created it first. I'm not disputing that fact. I'm saying it's a good release for Apple products as they're features we (iOS) users can finally enjoy;)

Did you get offended when Tim poked fun at Android or something? Damn your feelings seem really hurt.

To be honest, I didn't read your post, nor have a seen any of the talk Apple did today.

But these forums are infuriating!
