iOS 9.3: links in safari not clickable anymore

Just scroll through the pages, and its not only booking.com app there's more. 2 people brought up tweetbot and others Wikipedia. People are just saying "its not booking because i never installed it" and that's it, but it would be helpful if they said which apps they installed or updated when this occured.

I'm not sure exactly when this started, but here are the apps that have updated since the 24th.

  1. 3/24 - Untappd, Target, Swarm, iTunes U, OneDrive, Airbnb, OpenTable, Google Cast
  2. 3/25 - Tapatalk, Meme Generator, Uber, IMDb, Pinterest, Hangouts
  3. 3/27 - ooVoo
 
Found a temporary solution that fixes everything, including leaving JavaScript on and clicking links in mail.

This is for jail broken users only and thanks to @paulpols

Using ifile, edit com.apple.swcd.plist and then change the value of com.apple.SharedWebCredentials to false.

According to Paul, this means we will have to manually sign into sites, but that's a quick solution until there's a proper fix.

I'm now digging through files to test things.

1- if possible to clear it out / delete it and let the iPhone repopulate it

2- see if there's anything weird that specifically needs to be deleted.

The ones similar to me are, iTunes U, Google cast, Airbnb, swarm, IMDb, Uber
 
I have booking, Wikipedia, tweetbot on my iphone and I haven't the bug.
I have only tweetbot on the iPad Mini and I have this bug.

Wikipedia is working perfect on my iphone. Not on my iPad Mini. The problem is not THIS app, is the iOS 9 deep linking function. Do you see the two websites and arrows on top left/right of the screen? That's the bug! When you search or tap on a link, iOS try to understand the link in order to open the link in the correct app. In order to do this, there are a/some certificate file who checks for the security using Apple servers/id/whoknow and this is broken inside the file/s. Once you have installed/modified this file with a corrupted one, you will not be able to open any link. Check the previous posts to understand better.

An Excresource_com.apple.MobileSoftwareUpdate.UpdateBrainService that was updated just before the iOS 9.3 release and it points to a process called com.apple.xpcproxy.RoleAccount.staging that is the process relat to the anti-malaware check of iOS. That is the ways Apple communicates with the link...I absolutely don't know if could be related to the linksgate 🙂

PS: on my iPhone I haven't the linksgate bug (on my ipad yes) and I have a lot more logs related to Excresources. I have also another one called ExcResources_com.apple.Webkit.Webcontent..etc..who calls for an update of the WebKit engine on 24 March that I haven't on my iPad...weird... This could be also supposed that a new black list of the malawares was pushed to the devices but not to all the devices (like my iPad Mini) and for that we can't open external links anymore? 😕 Buh, just suppositions...

There was an app to see all the logs from console, like OS X, very useful, but since the update 9.3 stopped working 😡

Found an interesting aspect of this. Perhaps it will help someone to troubleshoot this. Using Safari, I continue to have this issue when I use www.google.com. HOWEVER, I did discover that if I use encrypted.google.com, I am able to search fine. Not really sure what this means, but I wanted to share in case someone had a better idea.

Or you can make a Google search via Safari toolbar and after long press the reload icon and tap "request desktop version " and all the links will works.

I was going to try to replace some files to test this but I rather not risk losing jailbreak and wait for a patch and see what gets changed. Since you dont have booking app, can you check the info plist on those apps you guys have in common and see which app uses sdwc.

I have downloaded Mozilla's Firefox and while direct links (a link on one page to another) have some problems you can "Open link in another tab" and direct links seem to work there. So, while the problem is being fixed by Apple, Firefox is a reasonable work-around.

Seems like a partial one though as links from emails or messages, for example, still won't work for various affected people.

I also have imdb. For those who dont have booking can you check if you have imdb?

Did you see the video I posted? Clearly shows the app/other unknown apps break it instantly. Why one is affected while the other one isn't I have no clue.

Restore from backup to pre 3/24/16 backup file (along with turning off auto update apps) seems to fix the problems so far for me. .

( i also Deleted booking.com app even before the phone try to down load )

SO far so good.

crossing my fingers ... Hoping for a real fix soon !

Was just about to post something similar.

Restored using my 3/24 iCloud backup (issue started for me on 3/25) and immediately deleted booking.com before it could reinstall (yes I realize they updated their association file and app today, but honestly I didn't want to take the chance) and so far everything is working...

Note, all the other apps I had minus booking.com are reinstalled and I've rebooted. Fingers very much crossed.

That's the point from the beginning:
wrong certificates. Apps can't verify itself or something like that (due to Apple problem, not apps, and not booking.com 😀 )

When the app is installed, the system downloads and verifies the site association file for each of its associated domains. If the verification is successful, the app is associated with the domain.

Yes I do understand all of that, however there are files stored on the phone that Can be modified to reset it back to its original state.

Unless you mean that someone has already shared how this can be fixed, in which case please can you link me, as I haven't seen that.
