You've been able to downgrade as long as jailbreaks have been around. One of the things you can do (or should be doing) with a jailbroken phone is save your SHSH blobs. This allows downgrading to previous OS' even after Apple has stopped signing them.

That's not been the case for several years.

After watching Person of Interest, I can say this much...I wont jailbreak anymore! I dont need a secret agent trying to force pair and hack into my phone. LOL.

And let's not forget the main reason most people jaikbreak: so they can pirate paid apps

You can do this without a jailbreak now, so although it is a big reason why kids jailbreak, it is not representative of the majority of /r/jailbreak, or at least they do not admit it publicly.

As long as there are apps that cost money, people will jailbreak to pirate.

And please, some of you may claim that you jailbreak to do something specific. Yes good for you. People use bittorrent to download linux too. Doesn't negate the many other people that use the method for piracy.

You are unnecessarily casting a negative light on jailbreaking.

Yes, people use it for piracy, but that's not representative of the majority of the community that participates in discussions both here on MR and on Reddit.

I can pirate - easily - with no jailbreak required. Anyone that wants to pirate and was on iOS 9 before this jailbreak came out could easily Google "how to install ipas ios 9 no jailbreak free" or something similar and there you go.

Not trying to negate that, but I don't want to give up full control over the device just to prevent piracy. Pc and Mac OS don't do that.

People still jailbreak?
I don't see a need to jailbreak my main iPhone, but I have a lot of older devices and jailbreaks allow them to have more useful "afterlives" - for everything from miniature emulator consoles to security cameras to alarm systems to remote controls.

I use it to get a mouse to work with my iPad, very useful for drawing apps ;)

Good for you. Doesn't change the fact that there are other people than you who jailbreak to pirate.
Again, people also use bittorrent to download Linux. Nuff said.

As soon as Springtomize gets updated (well, hopefully it gets updated considering the creator is now working for Apple...I think that's right), I'll be jailbreaking. The ability to hide all of Apple's stupid default apps and the ability to change the size of icons so I can fit 5 in the dock and in rows is worth it to me.

Wrong. Some people obviously do but I think the majority don't.

I actually think a higher percentage of people jailbreak now to pirate apps than ever before. Many of the people who used to jailbreak (like myself) on earlier versions in order to get additional features do so less now since Apple has added many of those features over the years.

so, how is ios 9.0.2 compared to 8.3 which is what i currently have? i want to try WatchOS 2 but i'm afraid my 5s will lag a little... it's smoooth on 8.3

Great, stick to your strawman argument then if it makes you feel better.
What argument? I was stating facts. Some people jailbreak their phones to do specific things, others do it to pirate. That's it. Not following your point, other than you making yourself feel better.
