Really? Are there some open statistics on this, or is it speculation?
Would be much better if Apple had 25% market.

I hope this isn't a serious question lolI'm just curious how you sell a .4 of a unit? How does one sell a percentage of a phone? Shouldn't the unit number be whole numbers?
Android has come a long away.
I believe this year will be the 1st year I buy an Android phone because of the lack of innovation from Apple and the iPhone 7.
Can you cite your sources please?Apple's AppStore sells 90% more than Google's.
People who buy Androids are mostly the people who just want to have a touch smartphone "like the other people", and keep themselves to the preinstalled apps, or pirating games off google.
The "revolution" was the creation of a handheld computing platform, rather than just an interface. That was my first thought at the iPhone unveiling 9 years ago. Arguably not that revolutionary a concept (computing platforms already existed) but certainly a big leap forward to put it in your hand and open it up to app & accessory developers.Just goes to show how revolutionary, if I may, these new mobile OS's really were at the onset. It was a virtual asteroid strike that had an overwhelming, global change in our environment.
I highly doubt that. Most everyone I know has an iPhone, and more switching to iOS all the time. The people I know that DO have Android are not very tech savvy, are cheap, or don't have a good income. Further they often complain about their phone and using it. They can't get help from others who have Android because it seems that each Android phone is different. Where setting are for one, may not even exist on another.Let's hope the iphone will not result in being the smartphone only for the 1%...
This is disappointing. This market share for Apple is terrible. I'd love to see iOS with six figure units sold each quarter. This has to do with iOS pricing for iPhone. A lower cost device will bring Apple higher ongoing income from other products and services,
At what point do developers stop making apps for iOS? Wasn't that the issue the Mac had in the 1990's, a smaller and smaller market share, so developers abandon it?
Crazy how quickly Windows phone has just died completely. Microsoft really has seemed to have given up.
Just so you know the 6p runs stock android while the Note will have touch whiz.I have the iPhone 6s Plus, I just bought the Nexus 6P to try Android. The phone was inexpensive as it was less that half what I paid for my iPhone. Slightly larger screen at 5.7, and crazy clear/sharp. The operating system was very surprising, I downloaded Android 7.0 and IOS 10. I was surprised how much more I preferred Android. Downloaded all the same Apps, I have to say I am sold! I just placed my order for a Note 7. I'm sold on Android and decided to get a phone far more advanced than iPhone. I'm shocked Android is so much nicer and the broad range of high end phones. I thought Apple was king. I strangely feel bad as I am a real Apple fan, have been for 18 years.

Well "a google search" is obvious, but I was hoping for a link directly to solid stats like in the article.A quick google search will give you all the stats you want.

I'm curious. What innovations do Android phones have that iOS do not?
I'm curious because I do not know. Am I missing something?

BB was very stubborn to change and it cost them.A decade ago BB thought they were taking over the world. Crazy how quickly things change. I don't see any surprises in these numbers. Android dominates sales in cheap cell phones and has since their release. Not to mention the number of different phones available using Android. Apple has publicly made it known their sales would drop and they have. The big question is what the next 5 years holds for Apple in the smartphone market. More people seem to be leaning towards Samsung and trying out android than in the past. Apple has lost their "cool" factor they once had and if they don't get it back they will see their numbers continuing to fall.
