Ranked in my preference, most useful first:

Fast charging
SD cards
Ultra power saving mode (due to OLED displays)
Always-on display
Wireless charging
Waterproofing
Multiple SIMs

I also like the LED notifications on phones, call me old fashioned, but I can glance at it without activating the screen to see if there are alerts. Different colours for different apps.

Fast charging: Supported by Apple (use the iPad power block) but not advertised
SD Cards: I wouldn't call this innovation, it's merely a user experience choice
OLED: Likely coming in 2017 to iPhone
Always-on display: Is this innovation? Why would you want this? I want my display off unless I'm looking at it. I really like the new raise-to-wake on iOS10.
Wireless charging: Still gimmicky, would like to see it implemented in a way that actually makes sense before I'm clamoring for it on my phone.
Waterproofing: 6S is VERY water resistant. And all signs point to further work on this
Multiple SIMs: Apple is working on the Apple SIM internal SIM card that can work with multiple numbers/providers. So, in the works.

Are there any Android phones that have ALL of the features you mentioned? Because, sure, Android definitely has more available features, because there are so many different android phones. But does any single Android phone beat the iPhone for useful features?

BlackBerry is down and all is Chens own fault.

Currently I own a BlackBerry Passport and I just love the phone, I would like holding the phone and the OS for a couple of years more, but their CEO just doesn't know how to promote their own OS. He openly doubted if the company would continue selling phones something you should never but never should do, so not surprisingly the sales went down to a point it´s weird seeing a BlackBerry in the wild.

I don´t know if I will switch to a Android BlackBerry or an Iphone but I know I will support one of the 2 camps with a higher marketshare because I am obliged to do so.
I dont think its Chens fault, he inherited a company that was already on its knees. They need to focus on android

For the bold my comments:

Always on display imo is great, this is one of the highlights of having an oled screen. Its great to see the time and if I missed anything without touching the phone. Battery life hit is minimal.

Fast charging is still faster then using the ipad charger.

I'm just curious how you sell a .4 of a unit? How does one sell a percentage of a phone? Shouldn't the unit number be whole numbers?
each "unit" is in the thousands or millions iirc. so 1 "unit" = 1000 devices. so .4 of a unit would be 400 or so.

I'm a Mac (Air), iOS (iPad), Android (S5, Tab 8), and MS (too many) user. Why would not syncing with iTunes or iCloud be an issue for someone? If you're all in with Apple ecosystem, you might have a few hiccups moving away. If you're not, I honestly don't see any issues. Cross platform apps are everywhere.

I just have everything in iCloud. I don't want to self-host my own syncing tools and I don't want to use a Google product. How could an Apple customer trust Google with their data the only Google product I still use is Voice & YouTube. I guess I assume that everyone here is anti-Google therefore how could any of you use Android.

If you weren't around during the Steve tirade against Google then I guess it's not as relevant.

I wonder is the 'Oracle' Warren Buffet is having second thoughts with his recent 'punt' on apple stock with these truly dreadful, dreadful, embarrassing figures.
Recent discussion on MR had apple at 25% min to 50% max of market share - these figures are APPALLING.
Maybe the greatest understatement of 2016.
Very very sad.

Personally, I think Android sucks donkey balls. Every time I touch an Android device I'm amazed at how crappy it is. It's like everything is 90% baked.

talking about 90% backed that's apple. can't tell you how many times my applepay didn't work at a store where my note5 with samsungpay worked flawless. nice try tho. the old apple saying " it just works" no longer stands true. when my crappy iphone won't do something that i need. then i have to depend on my good'ol faithfull android note5 to "just work" and bail me out of a certain situation.

so does Android have monopoly in the Phone OS market now?
By definition of monopoly, no they do not. Notice the article calls it duopoly.

when are US, EU and other states going to sue Google like they did Microsoft....

to answer your question YES the note7 does every single one of thoese things.
and even tho you can charge your iphone faster with the ipad power block. it's still not faster than the fast charge 3.0 inside of the note. nice try tho

Android has come a long away.

I believe this year will be the 1st year I buy an Android phone because of the lack of innovation from Apple and the iPhone 7.

I already have. Nexus 6P made sense price wise(was discounted big on new egg last week)/immediate android software updates/Pure android OS/still meets my needs performance wise/can customize/oled screen/fast charging/excellent camera especially low light/. Only downfalls no optical image stabilization/ a little big for my liking/would rather smaller bezels than the dual front facing speakers/if I'm being really picky no waterproofing/no expandable storage. Once I heard the new phones were made by HTC and the discounted 6p prices I made my decision. One plus 3 is another good option for the price as well.

I would have agreed with you 100% Gingerbread days (i.e. Android 2.X - 6 years ago). Every release this becomes less and less true, and today Android is quite polished. I will definitely give it to Apple for getting it right first, but I'd give Android most improved.

I have a confession-

I bought a Moto E for £29.99 and £35.00 for a 128GB SD so its a Google Play Music 'iPod' for the car.
Verdict its like a pocket computer 10/10 star
ps
iPhone will ALWAYS be my phone till the day I die, I said this in June 2007 and stand by it.

So true. $9.98 for an Android smartphone at Wal-Mart, thanks to a quick search. That's a pressed juice and a banana.

Drug-dealer phones aside, I't'd be interesting to see how the flagship club compared.

the android fanboys jumped on my comment but my point is, that market share is full of crappy phones. Back to my straight-talk friend who had $50 to spend on a phone max and it had to be able to run Facebook. that's his barrier of entry and he prepays for his data and minutes. An iPhone 5S 16GB at $150 was out of his budget. He can't be the only person doing this. Android is literally for everyone.

I feel very depressed by all this a 40 / 60 split with the future ahead I'd be okay with.
Like Microsoft v Apple in the PC software market that Microsoft won, it looks like the race is well and truely over Alphabet have won.
Very very sad day for me.

and that is quite possibly why the iphone is now a second tier phone. and no longer on top of the food chain. because iphone fans will blindly buy even with zero innovation.

I think what gets lost here is the definition of an Android phone. In these charts, literally any phone running any version of Android is counted. What would be useful to know is what percentage of these phones are actually competitors of Apple (like Samsung Galaxy 7, etc). This graph is as useful as a comparison of Corvette sales to all sales by Ford (as opposed to Mustang sales).

I didn't blindly buy the Moto E (spare phone / 'iPod for car). I researched with a 30 day return.
I am disturbed by how good a £29.99 plus £35 SD for 128GB device can be when I'm used to paying £699 for 128GB '6'
dont get me wrong I will fight the apple corner to the death but the market is speaking.

It's a shame that Microsoft couldn't pull itself together. Thy tried too hard to differentiate themselves and probably scared customers away. Having just two OS's doesn't help promote innovation or competition.

But like apple OS v Microsoft Windows OS
surely its apple iOS v Android the devices don't count this is all about the OS?
i.e.
you meet someone in a bar and say ''hey nice phone is it an iPhone?''
answer
'no buddy its android'
.....
it doesn't matter if its galaxy or moto etc

its the OS
alphabet have well and truely 'done a Microsoft' very annoyed about this (I thought it would be Symbian who would rule - then 9 years ago 'apple' now ...... I'm in shock).
cheers
