iOS Gained Market Share in Most Countries This Summer, Although Samsung Drove Gains for Android in UK

People purchasing the cheaper Androids would never be able to afford anything in the current Apple range, food, drink and keeping a roof over your head takes priority over the brand of your smartphone
I know quite a few people who have crap phones and large disposable incomes.
Some people just don't care about phones.

Loving the condescending attitude. :)

So your original post I quoted, lets clear this up then.

Android is not designed for adults?
iOS is not used by armchair tech wannabes?
iOS is not used by the unwashed masses?

Jesus...context.

My original response was a short interchange with RickInHouston after he implied iPhone users need to be hand-held, which is why they don't use Android. One snarky comment deserves another. No harm, no foul. Everything should have ended there until you (and apparently some other outrage junkies) decided to put on your SJW persona and go into offense mode.

Do you wake up itching to be offended by something? Get a life and move on.

Apparently you fail to see the fashion and design dimension in high-tech.
People cannot understand that within those billions to develop that new iPhone 7/8, they failed to find a few millions for a new design.
Even if that requires waking up Joni whispering with ApplePark trees (or by now, follow a design semester at Samsung ...)
Find me a new design in the last few iterations of phones in general, be it Samsung S8, the Pixel 2 or the iPhone, they carry the same design forward.
Find me a unique design laptop that's mainstream, I could go on, but you should get the gist.

My point is that the design that's defined by ergonomics followed by aesthetics has arrived at a flat portion of product life-cycle, which is hard for many to grasp and instead await a new design for the sake of it. Fashion for the sake of fashion, change for a sake of change is idiotic in my opinion.

Man, look at a more competitive market like the car market to see how lunatic your position is.
Design is never dead or flat. Only ducks and flimsy designers are.

Not offended in the slightest! Quite amusing you think someone would get offended over something so trivial.

It's a discussion forum, if you don't like discussion, then probably best not to post. Also no need to be so defensive!

My mistake. It used to be limited to iPads.

Good to know Apple finally put this in, it's one of my favorite features on Galaxy and Notes since the Note3.

The software feature is unfortunately still restricted to iPads only. The hashtag at the end indicates that he was referring to the few reported incidents where an iPhone 8 Plus had split open after the battery had expanded.

Considering how crappy iPhone is doing in countries like Germany is it really significant when it gains 2 points? A drop would be shocking considering the percentage it is at as it is.

I personally hope the percentage will go down significant by next year.

I think Germany is a bit unique. respective in that their government runs Linux for internal systems, and many of their higher education schools are run on Linux for administration. It's likely to conclude, if so, that Android would suit their users better.

I'm surprised about the uptick in China for iOS actually ... quite surprised.

This! The game is up Apple .. your products are no longer best of breed so those with half a brain are leaving you in droves - nothing to do with marketing, your price hikes have just drawn attention to the flaws and made otherwise loyal customers (like me) think about alternatives which is dangerous.

The 8 is a dinosaur compared to the S8 and people aren't convinced by the X beyond the silly gimmicks and people who must have an apple logo on something they own.

My movements over recent months/years:

Airplay > Sonos
iCloud photos > Google photos
iCloud services > Office365
iPhone > Samsung S8
Apple watch > S3 Frontier
MacBook Pro > Dell XPS15
Apple TV > Chromecast

iPad remains but frankly if I can get over the size of the Note8 that'll be next purchase and the iPad will be on the way out too.

The cost of entry, while painful, is worth it _if_ it's the best end to end experience - but it's not (for me at least) any more.

If Google can address App quality somehow .. the Android counterparts are still more buggy than iOS, and I'm talking about BIG apps like Spotify, Plex etc.. then they could do some serious damage

I'm curious then what use do you find in "Mac"rumors forums if you've completely changed over to Windows & Android? All your services, devices, and OS are no longer iOS/MacOS based if I'm not mistaken based on your post quoted above, right?

Some would be rude to say "so long" yet I'm stating "What use do you now find in Macrumors forums and posts if you have chosen 'greener' pastuers?"

I still like to keep up to date with Apple products (I was a user for 15 years) and if they come up with a better product that I have need for I'll be back. Plus, generally speaking, it's a nice place to discuss and debate tech in general.

Reason for posting initially (I got carried away a bit) was that it was insinuated that the rise of the S8 and others was due to marketing, I think otherwise. Just my opinion of course :)

Let's not go imbecilic by calling names, stick to the argument and not deflect them. I asked to point phones that have not had iterative 'designs' and you conveniently deflected to cars. I agree with the point that design is not stagnant, but cars is a different analogy than a phone.

Not many exterior design elements (which I assume you are referring to) on the car design are functional, the body design that you speak of is for nothing but aesthetics, it's form that doesn't follow function, mere show.

Take a race car or a plane, every surface on it is there for a reason, now that is the purpose for the design. Most people have it backwards. They might find fashionable clothing below appealing while not being comfortable or ergonomic.

Another apples to orange comparison, there no physical human interaction with the body of car, while body of the phone needs ergonomic and aesthetic considerations.

Anyway, you can choose to call names or grow up and have a productive discussion.

Defensive? Hardly.

I'm more curious why you have an inability to let it go. You misunderstood an interchange between two posters. It happens. You'll be OK, I promise.

Your tone and what you write shows you as being on the defensive. Just chill and take a deep breath.

I'm more then happy to let it go, however you keep coming back with your little digs.
