I want to apologise for the UK figures. We have a lot of retards over here who just see like for like price comparisons without taking into account of import tax, 20% VAT and shipping costs. With those costs added, we pretty much pay the same as the US. It's these blinkered, single minded people that voted to stay in the EU.

To be fair though, when the Pound was stronger, the price was no lower. Apple's prices really only ever increase because of currency conversions.

hmm...I think you need to refrain from calling people retards, especially when you dont have a clue what you are taliking about!

Since all of the worlds phones are made in China, unless they are being sold in China, the US and the UK have shipping costs, import duty and tax [though less in the UK] and sales tax. [VAT]

It depends on your needs. I need to compare to the 256GB version as that’s the one I’d need to get when the lifetime of the device is considered. Those 64GB to 64GB comparisons wouldn’t be as straightforward as it looks like since we would be comparing 64GB initial storage to 64GB absolute lifetime maximum storage.
It shouldn't be too difficult to see how much media storage you have on your phone after 2 years of use with a 256 GB phone.

And they basically contradicted their arguement with the last paragraph.

The note 8 is only $70 cheaper then the iPhone X

That's in the states. In other countries the note 8 can be a few hundred dollars cheaper. Here in Qatar the note 8 is about $200 cheaper than the iPhone x. Note 8 is $900 and iPhone x is starting at $1,100

Its the same in other countries as well. Flagship Samsung phones are cheaper than iphones in Europe and Asia.

I really like the look of that Samsung. Still makes the X look porky.

Having said that, Samsung phones are gross to use.

How so? I am loving using the Note 8. Just curious what you find "gross to use"?

But SD cards are relatively slow and not all apps can actually be moved, can they? And if you do move apps on there then the "swappability" of them is gone, because you can't lose a majority of your apps and data without pain. Seems like Samsung ought to give their customers the choice (I thought choice was good) of higher amounts of storage, rather than offer a compromised workaround.

The number of people that need more than 64G of storage when your take media off the table has got to be pretty tiny. That is a ton of apps. I had a 128G 6S+ which was pushing $1K with AppleCare and I don't remember ever going much over half full. With the Note 8 having 64G of internal storage and my ability to add an card of 4 times that, I'm good. I see no lag at all using the card for media.

As others have said, it’s the media storage where SD cards rule, they are more then perfect for videos and photos as most of us don’t have unlimited cellular data plans. Music and films etc are also a perfect fit for them.

As for them being slow, well not so much these days, certainly not as fast as internal built in storage but they can run apps fine, however it gets tricky with moving apps or installing apps on SD cards on Android, a device like the Nvidia Shield TV will make them part of the overall storage and apps install seamlessly and run fine too, my Fire TV will auto install and run apps from its USB stick fine.
Phones don’t always support this though from my experience, and you sometimes have to manually move apps around.

But with phones the ideal is to have apps on the internal storage and all your media on SD cards, but that’s getting tricky with apps like games hitting nearly 3 gig these days!

Now I don’t mind internal only storage, it’s just annoying that this year Apple has decided to ditch the 128GB option which for a lot of us is enough storage.

Although I don't personally have a need for that amount of media storage I can see the use case makes sense for some.

Agree on the hostility of the 64gb/256gb split. They should have a 128gb in there and the reason they don't is as obvious as it is off-putting.

Apple gets a lot of flak for "slowing" down their devices, but what people don't realize is that iPhones are supported 3+ years. Not many or any Android phones have that kind of support.

I am running a phone on a dead platform and I am getting 4 years of support and I am seeing app updates on a daily basis.

I have also got an older phone that has seen updates from 2013 until now and it is still getting app updates.

Yeap, it depends on your use. I have a 128GB 6S, not sure what phone to get, will see what the X is like. But not sure about spending so much on a phone!

128gb 7+, humming along nicely and only using 33gb. I’m due a JUMP upgrade soon though so I’ll have a think about what to do next.

Also, here in the UK, Samsung knows how currency conversion works.

Also, I can buy an S8 for around £600. The equivalent iPhone will be £1000.

How are they ripping anyone off? It is not compulsory to purchase, Also the S8 is not 'equivalent' it has rubbish software, it runs the same processor as every other Android running flagship which is ludicrously slow at intensive tasks, and the S8 cannot even render games properly ... scroll to 7.54 in video below. I'm assuming the X will not be worse than the iP8

While my iPhone 6 still works well, a reason why I plan to upgrade to the iPhone 8 is getting Band 12 support, not to mention upping the local storage from 64 to 256 GB.

ITT Britons complaining about the iPhone price because 1 GBP = 1.30 USD, yet when the GBP was even stronger and the iPhone was even cheaper they still complained about the price!
I think that when those same prices were handled in the usa as well, even you complained

not surprised. iPhone is like Hermes while Android is Zara, H&M or maybe Massimo Dutti. It covers the high end market while Android covers a bit of high end but most in Middle and lower end market. Of course, Android does not mmake their own phone alone. So, it's a little bias but logically presentation

Correct. The people who slag off the Samsung models usually have never physically handled them. They will compare processor speeds and camera thcnicalities. Not practicalities and aesthetics.

Comparing a Galaxy 8 to a Iphone 8 is like night and day. You can't believe they're from the same year. This goes for the Note 8 which is being compared to a iPhone that might have stylus compatibility in .... 2019!

The elephant in the room is that Apple have dropped the ball and slipped behind the front runners.

The iPhone X seems to be addressing this but with no other option than face unlocking, headphone jack removal and a massive £200 more expensive here in the UK it's not looking like a must-buy anymore.

You know what’s funny? I was looking into this numbers and saw Apple was actually down in most countries. Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Russia, ... to name a few. When publishing only the countries they gained a few, people actually believe it’s a growing platform

Samsung market their devices very well here in Uk they are on tv all the time.
Over here too. And to consider the Galaxy S8 is even cheaper than an iPhone 7 (not even the 7 plus) choices are simple made.

They used the same design in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 - that to me is 4 distinct years where they used the same design.

It’s irrelevant that 2014 is 3 years ago when taking into account the original comment.

What year did iPhone 6 come out? 2014

What year is it now? 2017

What’s 2017 - 2014?

THREE.

I think it’s more accurate to say that Apple is now using the same design for the fourth year running, but yes, I get what you mean and concur.

Because technically it’s still only the start of the fourth year and not yet 4 full years.
