Try this, - turn iPhone or iPad on and sync. If you get an error message, drink a beer. Re-try the whole sync process, if it still fails, drink another beer, this time pop open a bag of chips. Try to re-sync. If this continues to fail, keep popping the beers open. Eventually, the sync will work, or you really won't give a crap, fall asleep then retry the update tomorrow when the servers aren't so busy.
3rd Time lucky for me, seems to be working this time.... least it's gotten much further this time anyway, currently restoring iPad apps.
Poor message if it is server overload their side, the suggested fixes for this generic message are all related to things the users can try ... none of which are "wait a while"

iSad. Maybe they shouldn't have released this on the same day they're pushing OSX updates, XCode updates, Aperture updates and iCloud uploads. Apple's NOCs must be getting hammered.
I stopped trying and applied the Lion 10.7.2 update. Once that was complete I tried again and it worked the first time. Likely a coincidence, but hey worth a shot. 😉
i tried installing it loads and kept getting the 3200 internal error, as read on forums i turned on flight mode and it work on my ipad2 now time to restart it for my iPhone
