Do you really think Android's OS is more intuitive and functional than iOS? Apple's innovation is more in refinement and making it work well. Is Android's version of Siri as useful and reliable? Are Android's phones as robust in quality and do they have "retina" sharp displays?

There are many innovations in the new MacBook, like the cooling system, that are hidden but very forward thinking and creative.

If you ask me about Mac OS X, I think the "Finder" paradigm should be replaced with something even more iOS like. Windows-like interface is long in the tooth.

Androids voice commands have been around for 2 years. The only thing siri does that voice commands don't is talk back to you and add calender events. Google wins in every other catagory. Gizmodo thinks so to. http://gizmodo.com/5888973/siri-vs-android-voice-actions

My question was when was the last time Apple came out with a feature that wasn't already on android for the past 1 or 2 years? iOS5 biggest feature was siri and notifications.........Something Android has been doing for years.

You are in complete denial if you think Apple is ahead of android in terms of innovations

Look at the new galaxy coming out. Floating pop up video, direct call, smart alert, Smart stay... That's 4 new features alone that haven't been done before. Like i asked before when has apple released a feature that isn't 1 or 2 years old?

Which OS would you say is the best right now? It seems to me like you really like Android. More power to you. Everyone is different. I happen to like iOS better. I wish it was a smidgen more open, but overall Android would never be around without iOS making the initial quantum leap in innovation.

Android may innovate, but they don't know how to execute. They don't understand refinement and cohesion.

Look at the Android fragmentation in OS and hardware. I'm not even sure which OS I'm getting with each phone that comes out.

Calm down. Remember Lion? It seemed like they didn't add anything meaningful, but they did.

This isn't a matter of opinion. iOS6 literally has the worst set of tentpole features out of all the other big iOS versions that came before it. Honestly, turn by turn directions are great to have but that's literally the only big thing this time around and it's not something they did first. Everything else was either catch up or things that Apple is PURPOSELY delaying to give people 2 or 3 upgrades instead of one.

Nobody should accept Facetime over 3G or Mail/Safari "enhancements" AKA things that should have been there in the first place as a Tentpole feature, but Apple users do, because they're LYING to themselves over what should satisfy them.

Again, why are you so desperate to have everyone else agree with you?

I had Iphone 3g, 3gs, and 4. How many Androids have you had to make you conclusions out of?

I think both OS's are great! I just don't like that iOS never seems to bring anything new. Think about it, The last time and iOS made a splash was when the first iphone came out.

The 3gs brought mms, video, and cut and paste ( really? I mean really? that was innovating?)

the 4 brought......Multitasking (if you can call it that) the ability to change you wallpaper (lol)

Iphone 5 brought voice commands and notifications (which were grossly 3 years past due)

Where are the ground breaking features and innovation you keep referring to? Can you be honest with yourself for a little bit without being blind?

I don't know about you but I owe several gadgets I love gadgets! My ipod is the best invention ever. I recently sold my ipad, waiting to see what the new version has. I've been very underwhelmed with Apple's Iphone and that's the reason I left. I'm a tech junky I like doing things that haven't bee done before. I like breaking things and putting them back together. I like trying running different forms of softwares. I'm not just happy with something that just works. A prius just works and gets gas mileage, but I wan't more than "just works"

Then stick with your Android and be happy. Apple products may not have thousands of features for a techy like you, but the features they do have are very well thought and laid out. I don't know about you but I prefer quality of quantity. It's not all about hardware and specs but about the overall experience wrapped up in a nice package. I don't like the openness of Android, and there app store is joke. Most of the apps developed for the iDevices are much better than their Android counterpart. To me, it's mostly about the apps that I use. Without good apps and a nice store that ties it all together, I'd prefer the iPhone. Apple's implementation ends up being much better anyways. So what if Android came out with voice commands first, it's not about who comes out with what first, it's about whats better. If you want to play that card then there probably would be no Android or similar devices if it wasn't for Apple to release the iPhone back in 2007. Ever since it came out, you started seeing everyone else playing catch up. Thanks to Apple for setting the bar high for the competition. Thanks to Apple that you Android lovers have an actual phone.

I'm thinking you don't know much about Android's app eco system. Very on par with Apple. In fact many developers prefer Android because of their openness and possibilities. There's a reason why instagram is touting the Android app as an app with more functionality than the ios version.

The only thing that developers love about iOS is that users are willing to spend 1.99 on an app that makes fart noses as when Android users wont.

and if what you say is true then why do forbes and mashable show tests that show iOS apps crash more than Android apps?

I used to love my iphone, but I still sit here and wonder (and laugh) at the complacency that iphone users have been ok with over the last two years.

To each their own, but the lack of iphone users demand for better is what really allows apple to make such small increments to their iphone. If you guys don't care what incentive is there for them to innovate.

Many developers prefer Android? That's a first. My brother has a Nexus and he complains of apps crashing all the time. Me on the other hand with an iPhone 4, close to none. That's besides the point. Apps crashing is not the fault of the device but the code itself.

Developers choose iOS because of the entire package. Apple makes it easier for anyone to create an app with the Xcode environment. There's no marketing efforts for the end user as it goes up in the appstore, that's all the marketing you need right there. Who wouldn't want to develop for iOS. It's clearly a much better platform than Androids which is fragmented.

Nope you're 100% wrong. Developers like apple because apple users are willing to pay for gimmicky apps. Android users are smarter than that.

can you explain why the same app from same developer is a paid app in the app store

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/angry-birds/id343200656?mt=8

but free on Android?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5yb3Zpby5hbmdyeWJpcmRzIl0.

Developers like easy money and thats why they like Apple users. Any other explanation is just a deflection to that fact that iphone users are more willing to pay for silly apps.

why are developers charging on itunes yet taking that same app with more functionality/features and giving it away on Android?

Because Apple's version of the apps are usually better than their Android counterpart. I'm sure the same app on Android is offered for FREE is because nobody in their right mind would spend money on something thats more inferior and less attractive. There's a reason why the same apps are free on Android and costs on iOS.

You can't even compare the 2. iOS app store is much more mature, offers a wealth of apps. Not so much on Android. With the few apps that are even available, they all lack that polish that you see often in iOS apps. One reason for that problem like I said before is fragmentation.

I am not too caught up on anything. Just expressing my thoughts like anyone else here. So don't assume anything about me. We can go all day about Android vs iOS. It's pointless really. You like what you like, and i like what I like. I have my reasons and you have yours. But don't sit here and try to prove to me why Android is better for this and that. It won't change my opinion.

Have you ever thought that they make the app free on Android because if they don't, it's just going to be pirated? The piracy rates on Android are far higher than they are on iOS. For some companies, brand recognition is important so they're willing to make less money if it means it'll get their product out there to more people. Example? Xbox. Wasn't the most successful system ever, but got the name in the door. Xbox 360 ends up being far more successful.

You are so wrong its funny. Most apps on Android are MORE ADVANCED than Iphone's version. Dude you're talking to someone who's had 3 generations of iphones. Instagram has more features on Android than they do on Apple and the makers of the app advertise it as such as well. Android is open source, which opens up what developers can really do with the app. Apple apps are as closed and as basic as can be. You obviously have absolutely no experience with Android, hence your comments. You have no data, articles, or anything to back up your posts. I've given you plenty. You're just a biased iphone fan, that's all. The truth will set you free buddy. :D

Why is a pound of cherries $3 a pound in the nicer areas of town, yet that same pound of cherries is $1 a pound in the poorer areas? They were delivered by the same trucking companies that brought them from the same farms. Business' will always take advantage of you ALWAYS! And unfortunately for apple consumers you guys have given them the power to do whatever they want with you, because you will still be suckered into paying for their stuff.

Ah, the predictable Android user dig at iOS apps by using the fart app myth. iOS has a far better quality selection of apps, especially in the gaming category. Gameloft are the only developer who show Android users a degree of respect and release newish games sooner, although there's still no NOVA 3 on Android yet, correct?

Remember ShadowGun. Whored around the community on a Tegra tablet, appeard on iOS first and was exclusive for months due to continued development to get the Android version up to par on what selection of devices could run it.

The BIG titles come to iOS first and often stay there. Apple has paid far more to developers than Google, and if you're naive enough to allow yourself to believe the bulk of it has come from fart apps then you should just log off permanently and stop posting.

The incremental updates to the UI of the OS have ZERO baring on the quality of third party apps. You don't see the UI of the home screen whilst in an app, so I don't see what your (woefully inaccurate) claims that there's only more apps on iOS because we buy fart apps have to do with anything.

You're babbling about small petty things like .99 cent apps. If that's too much for you, then I can see why you're making a big fuss out of this. No wonder Android suits you more. I have no problem paying. I pay for my music, books, apps, movies, tv shows on iTunes just like I pay for mortgage and other things. It's not a big deal to me to be complaining about small pointless issues. I'm not going to sit here and waste time digging up articles just to prove to some stranger across the country why I prefer one mobile OS over the other. I know what I like, and I don't need to sit here and prove myself to anyone. But don't just go on and start turning this into why my mobile OS is better than yours. It's quite childish. Even if what you say is true about Instagram, again, that's only 1 app out of billions. Which doesn't say anything as to why Android apps are more superior. Free doesn't always mean better. Even so, I rather run the same exact app on a nicer device like the iPhone than Android. The user experience on Android devices just isn't as nice. Feels cheap, unresponsive and sloppy. But I expected that.

You know how idiotic your post is? You know there are multi-millionaires who refuse to buy a new car or order a soda at a restaurant because of the cost associated with it? The fact that you look at it as just .99 is the root cause as to why you get taken advantage of. A million minds like yours is a million dollars in their pocket. They love you! I've paid for plenty of apps on my Android, but it's nice to see that you are losing the argument and you are now totally avoiding my facts in my posts and going on with your gibberish that's completely irrelevant to what we're talking about.

Okay Mr. Know-it-all. I'm not losing anything. I don't have the need to prove anything unlike you. If you think Android apps are far better than that's fine by me. But don't go on here forcing your opinions on me. I could care less. At the end of the day I'll use my iPhone and be happy with it no matter what you or anyone else says. I'm not falling for any tactics. If anyone's talking about anything irrelevant, it's you. Might want to take a look at the topic again. Seems to me like you purposely get on an Apple-centric forum just to justify your opinions. Go troll somewhere else.

Before some of you start wetting yourselves over the prospect of somehow proving that Apple's trailing Android consider:

Apple develops not one but two high volume OS.

OS X
iOS

Apple also custom designs their external hardware for mobile and desktop/notebook platforms, routers and designs custom ARM chips.

I think we can forgive them for not adding in every minute feature. With that being said

Android has its faults. Even in a phone with a 1Ghz processor the UI lags. Less than 10% of Android phones are running ICS which means all the reast are dealing with a poorly threaded UI system that lags

Apple had a butter smooth UI on the phones fixed before they launched the first iPhone.

There's nothing like iCloud in Android and Siri is far better than Voice Actions and if it wasn't Google would be trying to develop the next generation voice stuff with Assistant (née Majel)

Apple doesn't give two ***** about being first. They're simply going to do things "their way" and they won't cater to bottom barrel pricing so they'll make money ...more money than you will.

No matter what the topic / news, people always whine about Android being better etc. Why don't you leave then and move on rather than trolling in a non-Android forum.

Getting tired of this.

Again, why are you so desperate to have everyone else agree with you?
That's the point of a discussion forum. To reach a conclusion through discussion. There's no point in discussing anything if everybody goes in knowing that everybody's opinion is equally valid and that the only conclusion is that "everybody is right no matter what they say". We discuss things because some people are right, and some people are wrong.

Hope you guys realize that Patenting the technology is one part of the story ....implementing it into the phone is a bit more complex. Not that Apple isn't capable and hopefully they're not becoming complacent with what they already have accomplished.
In any case IOS6 announcement was exciting so far. Keep in mind many of the features were not yet released so that the competition can't copy them.
STAY TUNED!

Ha little did you know you actually made my point. You are the perfect example. Iphone users=gimmicky apps/games=teenage like mentalities.

You can see why developers like Apple.

Can you give me some examples to your claims? Can you give me the name of an Apple app and give me the features/benefits that's built into that app, that's not built into the android version to justify the purchase price?

Angry birds and whats app. Both paid on Apple, free on Android....Can you tell me specifically the features, capabilities, or whatever it is you talk about that justifies this app being paid on apple?

again whenever you want to stop talking about opinions and facts, I'll start taking you serious.

the creators of instagram themselves said the Android version would be better than iOS
http://www.wired.com/underwire/2012...very-soon/?pid=6398&pageid=97539&viewall=true

“In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy,” said Systrom.

Your arrogance is as insulting as your perceived knowledge.

I'm actually a 33 year old male who has been gaming and using computers in general since the age of 5 (Spectrum 48k was my first) and owned every single platform you can name. I've seen it all in gaming, gotten bored of it, sold off my consoles, and don't see value for money in titles anymore. On iOS I have get similar experiences in the genres I enjoyed, at a fraction of the cost. I don't need the latest lifelike visuals, they don't impress me anymore (my launch day Japanese Dreamcast was the last console to make me go "Wow").

You're again, AGAIN, using Instagram as your one example. It's one app, one developer, who said in SOME WAYS, not all ways, but SOME WAYS their app was better on Android than iOS. This is an app that's long since been on iOS and is now owned by Facebook who, if you believe the Internet, is working on ... an Android phone of their own of which, no doubt, Instagram would be a main feature (see expanded version of Facebook camera app).

You dare to tell me to stop dealing in opinion and deal in facts? Your facts? Don't make me laugh with such ignorant nonsense.

My iPad is loaded with the following:

Sky Go (finally on Android after a long delay, but not supported on all devices).

Sky Cloud WiFi (free WiFi for Sky broadband customers from the cloud, not yet on Android with no release date).

Sky+.

Sky News for iPad (Android version has nothing close to this interactive Sky News app).

Sky Sports News for iPad (same as above).

Spotify.
Netflix.
iPhoto.
iMovie.
Find my iPhone.
iBooks.
TomTom UK & Ireland (I will ALWAYS take a dedicated sat nav over turn by turn, Google or Apple).

BBC iPlayer.
ITV Player.
4OD.
VLC Player.
Tune In Radio.
Engadget.
CNET.
Yelp.
Google Voice.
Google Maps.

Infinity Blade.
Infinity Blade 2.
Real Racing 2 HD.
NOVA 3.
SoulCalibur.
Grand Theft Auto 3.
Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy 2.
Final Fantasy 3.
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.
ShadowGun.
Mass Effect: Infiltrator.
Dead Space.
Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.
NFS Shift 2: Unleashed.
NFS Hot Pursuit.
FIFA 12.
Tiger Woods 12.
Madden NFL 12.
Burnout Crash.
Sky Gamblers - Air Supremacy.
Modern Combat 3.
Sonic 4 Ep.1.
Sonic 4 Ep.2.
Max Payne.
Sonic CD.
The King of Fighters.
Street Fighter Collection.
Final Fight.
Asphalt 6 HD.
Marvel vs Capcom 2.
DoDonPachi Resurrection.
DoDonPachi Blissful Death.
Deathsmiles.

You can add Infinity Blade Dungeons and Street Fighter X Tekken to that list when they launch in the coming months ... both iOS exclusive, both paid, both not fart apps.

Where is Angry Birds? Where are the fart apps? Eh? To say liking games is a "teenage mentality" is ridiculous. My iPad allows me to stream live TV from my Sky subscription, use my Sky broadband connection while out and about, book Sky Box Office movies, stream movies from Netflix, get full and proper GPS sat nav capabilities, browse the web, check email, video chat with friends, SMS friends, play the best mobile games, and more.

The charts in iTunes are only a snapshot of what is happening now. To suggest, nay use, these charts as proof of what makes developers their money on iOS is folly. Oh yeah, here's some "facts" ... the Sonic game in the chart? It's there because it's the free app of the week. Developers like iOS because a title like FF Tactics priced at £10.99 will sell.

Can't help but think...

Has anyone considered that the reason Apple have not redone the entire UI since release bar minor changes, is that it just works?

Don't know... I have gone back and forth between Android and iOS for some time, and must admit that for me, iOS takes the cake every time.

It just works.

Is it the sleekest looking UI out there? No. But it just works.

Would I like widgets on Lock Screen, quick text reply box and so on? Sure... But not if the price is loss of any functionality and speed...

I am not a massive fanboy at all... Android is absolutely blazingly fast (on the right device) and looks beautiful. But it just doesn't cut it... For ME.

That doesn't mean that Android is an inferior OS... It just means that the two major mobile OS'es cater for different wants and needs.

Nothing wrong in that at all...

Choose what you want. Drop the flaming :)

I'd like to be able to use my iPad screen in more interesting ways. For example, a quarter screen playing a video or showing ipod controls, quarter screen showing web browser (nba score feed or something) and half screen of Pages while i'm writing something.

Right now i feel like i'm holding a really high tech device that is set to beginner mode. I know app-switching is easy, but sometimes its nice to have more than one thing on screen.
