Uh, that pretty much defines Apple''s core target audience.Right now i feel like i'm holding a really high tech device that is set to beginner mode.
(Sadly, this now also appears to be true of Microsoft.

You can't get thru to this Calinut Edwin. He's just an Android troll now trying to justify his switching away from iOS. Oh how I wish Tapatalk had an ignore poster option...
Your arrogance is as insulting as your perceived knowledge.
I'm actually a 33 year old male who has been gaming and using computers in general since the age of 5 (Spectrum 48k was my first) and owned every single platform you can name. I've seen it all in gaming, gotten bored of it, sold off my consoles, and don't see value for money in titles anymore. On iOS I have get similar experiences in the genres I enjoyed, at a fraction of the cost. I don't need the latest lifelike visuals, they don't impress me anymore (my launch day Japanese Dreamcast was the last console to make me go "Wow").
You're again, AGAIN, using Instagram as your one example. It's one app, one developer, who said in SOME WAYS, not all ways, but SOME WAYS their app was better on Android than iOS. This is an app that's long since been on iOS and is now owned by Facebook who, if you believe the Internet, is working on ... an Android phone of their own of which, no doubt, Instagram would be a main feature (see expanded version of Facebook camera app).
You dare to tell me to stop dealing in opinion and deal in facts? Your facts? Don't make me laugh with such ignorant nonsense.
My iPad is loaded with the following:
Sky Go (finally on Android after a long delay, but not supported on all devices).
Sky Cloud WiFi (free WiFi for Sky broadband customers from the cloud, not yet on Android with no release date).
Sky+.
Sky News for iPad (Android version has nothing close to this interactive Sky News app).
Sky Sports News for iPad (same as above).
Spotify.
Netflix.
iPhoto.
iMovie.
Find my iPhone.
iBooks.
TomTom UK & Ireland (I will ALWAYS take a dedicated sat nav over turn by turn, Google or Apple).
BBC iPlayer.
ITV Player.
4OD.
VLC Player.
Tune In Radio.
Engadget.
CNET.
Yelp.
Google Voice.
Google Maps.
Infinity Blade.
Infinity Blade 2.
Real Racing 2 HD.
NOVA 3.
SoulCalibur.
Grand Theft Auto 3.
Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy 2.
Final Fantasy 3.
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.
ShadowGun.
Mass Effect: Infiltrator.
Dead Space.
Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.
NFS Shift 2: Unleashed.
NFS Hot Pursuit.
FIFA 12.
Tiger Woods 12.
Madden NFL 12.
Burnout Crash.
Sky Gamblers - Air Supremacy.
Modern Combat 3.
Sonic 4 Ep.1.
Sonic 4 Ep.2.
Max Payne.
Sonic CD.
The King of Fighters.
Street Fighter Collection.
Final Fight.
Asphalt 6 HD.
Marvel vs Capcom 2.
DoDonPachi Resurrection.
DoDonPachi Blissful Death.
Deathsmiles.
You can add Infinity Blade Dungeons and Street Fighter X Tekken to that list when they launch in the coming months ... both iOS exclusive, both paid, both not fart apps.
Where is Angry Birds? Where are the fart apps? Eh? To say liking games is a "teenage mentality" is ridiculous. My iPad allows me to stream live TV from my Sky subscription, use my Sky broadband connection while out and about, book Sky Box Office movies, stream movies from Netflix, get full and proper GPS sat nav capabilities, browse the web, check email, video chat with friends, SMS friends, play the best mobile games, and more.
The charts in iTunes are only a snapshot of what is happening now. To suggest, nay use, these charts as proof of what makes developers their money on iOS is folly. Oh yeah, here's some "facts" ... the Sonic game in the chart? It's there because it's the free app of the week. Developers like iOS because a title like FF Tactics priced at £10.99 will sell.
They are only venting their opinions. You are the one trolling.
About iOS 6, I am only worried about the new maps. I am not from USA, and I have a hard time believing it will be anywhere near Google Maps is atm.
Now it Google release apps for iOS and Apple approves them, I think this whole new Map thing will be good for everyone down the road. If google apps are banned and Apple's Maps indeed sucks, well I think my next phone won't be a iPhone, cause maps are very important for me.
Hmmmm i guess im not after complexity, rather more functionality.
For example, a basic settings widget embedded on the homescreen to toggle wifi, bluetooth, volume, clear cache etc etc. iOS works great for phone but on the iPad it feels like a missed opportunity.
I'd like to be able to use my iPad screen in more interesting ways. For example, a quarter screen playing a video or showing ipod controls, quarter screen showing web browser (nba score feed or something) and half screen of Pages while i'm writing something.
Right now i feel like i'm holding a really high tech device that is set to beginner mode. I know app-switching is easy, but sometimes its nice to have more than one thing on screen.
Let's see, you're on a Mac enthusiasts site talking trash about Apple and it's products, and yet you are criticizing people for being Mac enthusiasts? Quite the genius there, aren't ya?
That's the point of a discussion forum. To reach a conclusion through discussion. There's no point in discussing anything if everybody goes in knowing that everybody's opinion is equally valid and that the only conclusion is that "everybody is right no matter what they say". We discuss things because some people are right, and some people are wrong.
go ahead and pat yourself on the back in your attempt to represent millions of iphone users and their characteristics.

Apple will not approve google maps, just like they wont approve google chrome. Apple doesn't care about their users having a better experience they just want you inside their trapped wall.
I wish Google would turn around and ban Gmail, Youtube, Google Docs/Drive, and any other google products from iphones. Give Apple a little taste of their own medicine. But fortunately for the millions of iphone users google isn't apple.

widgets! oh yea those things Android has been running since it's existence.

This is why some of you have such low standards. You actually think there's no right and wrong. Now we're getting to the root of the problem. No, the point is to share ideas and opinions Opinion is subjective, there is no right and wrong.

Ahh the Tin Foil hat comes on. Apple's the big bad nasty that wants to consume our Freedom. LOL.
Compare the malware on Android versus iPhone and then get back to me.
Google could kill
Gmail - i've got Yahoo, iCloud and me.com accounts.
Youtube - I like Vimeo better anyways
Maps - heheh already on its way to getting replaced.
Google Docs/Drive - um Dropbox and iWork/MS Office thank you
Google isn't that hard to replace as you're seeing with Siri and Apple's Maps.
Yahoo is good as a spam decoy address. I'd prefer Zoho or Lavabit as a Gmail alternative though. I got iCloud mail working on my Android the other day and it works great so that free email from Apple was pretty handy. I thought I might lose it but nope, works perfectly on any phone.I'm sorry but you have got to be joking.

Open source is never successful at selling anything, so why is this a big deal? Here's a backup source since you like it so much:
Asked why Rovio decided to make the Android version of Angry Birds free, and whether that would change, Vesterbacka told Tech N' Marketing that "Free is the way to go with Android. Nobody has been successful selling content on Android. We will offer a way to remove the ads by paying for the app, but we dont expect that to be a huge revenue stream.
LOL ok I had to laugh at your replacements lol If you like using inferior products go for it lol. Yahoo mail? LOL that was pretty funny. Dropbox works for uploading and storing only. Go ahead and try to collaborate and edit files on dropbox. Must be nice of you to have to use 3 different services to replace one.Ahh the Tin Foil hat comes on. Android is open source. Why would they expect huge revenue stream? You proved my point. They don't charge on Android because users won't pay unless its a valuable app. But they charge on Itunes because they know people will pay for that same product that they give away. Do you see something wrong there? The same product is being giving away for free in a market that's hard to sell (power of the consumer) but turn around and sell it to people who will pay for it. You like being suckered?

One of the things I like about Android is that it doesn't waste space in the settings list with a Twitter section of its own. Android consolidates accounts into one button, and you don't have to install any of that social networking BS. Heck, you don't even have to get a Google account to use the OS properly. You can install APK's that perform the functions that are needed and never need to walk into the Play store.I've read most of your posts in this thread and many others, I gotta say I agree with you on iOS6. It is a joke and a waste of time to release it. Yes sir, the highlight of it all is MAPS... and for me, the deal breaker is Facebook & Twitter be shoved into every corner of the OS.
I know I've been bashing the hell out of iOS6, but I wouldn't recommend that anybody who owns an iPhone boycott the upgrade. It's still an upgrade, despite being a crappy one. Anything that makes the iPhone a little less crippled should be installed.Yea, there are some cool things about iOS6 but I personally was expecting much greater stuff from Apple and I'm very disappointed, so I WILL stay on iOS5 for the remainder of the time I keep an iPhone.
I'm a die-hard Apple freak but this looks to me like some sucky junk that Jobs is probably puking over in Heaven. I waited a long time to jump on the iPhone train...now I'm waiting for said train to slow down so I can jump my reared back off and find an Android train.
