I have a hard time believing that Cook, Ive and Hair Force One use the stock calendar to manage their busy schedules.

WeekCal for the win (pending their iOS 7 update)

Fantastical is by far the best calendar app available for the iPhone and can't wait for the upcoming release of the new iOS 7 optimized version which sounds like a substantial upgrade. Apple would be well served by buying Flexibits and adopting Fantastical as the stock iOS calendar... I know it's not going to happen, unfortunately, as that type of move is not part of Apples modus operandi.

I hate the new iOS7 calendar too. Fantastical is a good replacement. Looking forward to fantastical 2 - http://flexibits.com/blog/2013/09/fantastical-and-ios-7/

Does Calendars 5 sync with the calendar app on a Mac and/or other iOS devices?

What other iOS calendar apps sync with the Mac and other devices?

Not too thrilled with the new calendar app and willing to change.

Thanks

All part of Apples plan. Dumb down the stock app and sell more calendar apps forever

Agreed. The new calendar app is the worst part about iOS7. The standard month view was 100x better than now. Simple and effective even with only dots on the days. Everything else in ios7 is pretty good but the calendar needs to be fixed. Unfortunately even with all the comments this is getting and unhappy campers we will be lucky to see something revamped by ios8. And I also agree with the prior posters. Calendar is one of the most basic and original apps and yet I use it multiple times every day.

Apple should re-release the iOS 6 Calendar app as a standalone purchase in the App Store.

I can imagine due to system integration reasons this might not be realistic, but it's an interesting solution to keeping previous users happy.

Personally, I'd like to see a blend between the clean look of the new iOS 7 calendar app and something super-tweakable like Calengoo.

The calendar works the same as the old version on the iPad. No need to click on dots when looking at an overview of the month. That was one of the reasons why I was holding off on updating that. Now they just need to bring that back to the iPhone version.

Not exactly crazy about IOS 7's calendar but not ready to kick it out of bed, yet ✌

Out of bed and to the curb, as the youngsters say, two OS's ago.

It's hard to imagine anyone who takes a calendar halfway seriously can be satisfied with the stock option. (Good for all you who can, and no slight intended.) And the OS just barely allows 3rd party apps to offer as much improvement as they do. Like with snoozing a calendar alarm -- iOS 7 finally offers it, but in such a pathetic way.

Thanks for the link. I was thinking of buying fantastical but since fantastical 2 will be a separate app I'll save the money for that. No point in paying twice, October is close.

Yes. Good info indeed. I've been recommending people buying Fantastical, but with a paid update on the way I'm going to have to put the kibosh on that.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but the thing that annoys me most about the new calendar is that when you click on a certain day, only entries after the current am/pm time will be shown in the view. So if I have appointments at 11am on some date in the future, and it's currently 3pm, I have to scroll back up to view that appointment. Am I missing something here?

Just asking if there's an obvious fix to this before I download Fantastical.

Seeing the text below in monthly view was one of the reasons I went back to iphone from android.
I really miss that little text pane below the month view as well. I only ever used the old iOS calendar in month view and did everything from the text pane. I agree with everyone else who's saying that the new iOS 7 version is a huge step backwards.

I think the Stock Calendar app is a lot better. The day view is better, and it's just easier to get around and use.

Calendars by Readdle allows you to sync with iCloud or any other service you've setup in IOS settings. It also allows you to bypass iCloud and IOS settings and sync directly Google-only from within the app. The Google-only sync is great if you use other non-Apple devices, or if you want to maintain separate personal and work calendar environments.

My calendar app rankings:
1. Calendars+ by Readdle (includes iPhone and iPad calendar apps)
2. Week Calendar (iPhone and iPad apps sold separately)
3. Fantastical (good on smaller 3.5" screens)

I think Calendar+ and Week Calendar are very close, while Fantastical lags a good ways behind those two on the iPhone 5/5S/5C. I do prefer Fantastical on the 4S. Calendars+ and Week Calendar really need the 4" screen to shine.

All-day events dont appear on the notification drop down.. thats pretty poor. Basically, no birthdays or anything else that takes the entire day.

calendar issue with the 'add event' button

Did anybody had a problem with adding an event in the caldendar? Cuz for some kind of weird reason, the + button on the top right is deactivated so that i cannot add an event to it! :S
