People who have updated from beta to GM in previous iOS versions, did you have any issues at all? I realize clean install is recommended, but just curious to see how many people have just updated directly and what their experiences were.

Gotta clear up confusion

GM is coming, last year it took 2+ hours after event to be released
GM is NOT available OTA
GM does NOT require UDID registration

Will non developers be able to download the GM straight from Apple? If I recall correctly this was possible last year, but I'm not sure.

anything i should know before upgrading from ios 6.1.4 to ios 7 gm? no jailbreak and 6.1.4 was downloaded at public release

any tips will be appreciated :)

Also was waiting for some announcement on the Keynote with regards to this.

This keynote was info for the general public so they don't mention such things cause it would confuse folks who wouldn't understand why some folks are getting it now when they just said it's coming out in a week.

Make a backup in both iTunes and iCloud, because when your iPhone makes an iCloud backup on iOS 7, the backup won't work on iOS 6. So if you want to retain the option of downgrading back to iOS 6 without losing your data, make an iTunes backup.

Thinking of it, I'd always recommend making an iTunes backup if your updating through iTunes. In case anything goes wrong, an iTunes backup is much faster to restore than an iCloud backup. Imo you should only use an iCloud backup for emergencies. If you plan to go hassling with updates through iTunes, make an iTunes backup :).

It's hard to image anyone sitting in the audience (those tech savvy media folks) would not understand what a GM is.

Aww Im missing out I feel sad lol..phone is still in a bag of rice.. I was looking forward to this day LOL is the GM out yet? Fill me in guys...I have no idea without my phone :p

I can't remember how the things were last year. Let's say I am not a beta now, and when GM comes out, should I connect my iPhone to iTunes, or get that ipsw somewhere else?

What do you mean by “DFU restore”? Non-dev here. Shouldn’t I just Cmd + Restore to the GM build? Why should I enter in DFU mode?

Then you shouldn't be using the GM, plain and simple. Google DFU instructions.

Nope. Never been possible. The GM is only published on the Developer Center.

First time a keynote did not mention the GM Build will be released today.

4pm will be the deadline for today.

Hmm, weird... I'm pretty sure I have downloaded a GM directly from Apple in the past. I thought the download link was publicly accessible.

GM wasn't mentioned at iOS 6 keynote but it still came out same day
GM links are ONLY available to devs

They have mentioned the GM release in the past. Usually they mention it going to developers followed by the release a week or two later to the general public.

Don't worry about it, just update it as you normally would. It's unnecessary, IMO.
