I dont get it.. Which part of ios 7 is complicated to use? iOS 7 is more of a skin/theme change with some added functionality. I dont think it'll take a rocket scientist to operate ios 7.

Hey man, don't you think the workflow is different now. They changed the user's habit of using and controlling the interface.
You're right, it's still simple, but not simpler compared to the old one.

----------

Its only intuitive because we've had six years to learn it. But if you're one of those "set in your ways and refuse to change" kind of people it will be annoying. Most of 7 works exactly the same.

Nope, the first one was so intuitive that it doesn't require you to learn it.
I slowly also get used to the UI of iOS7. But some stuff are just not that intuitive at all. Some stuff are just hard to see visually. Some other functionality is just hidden somewhere.
I'm not against change. But this change kinda sucks now. I hope it will be better. They definitely should change the color theme, looks like a 7 years old girl designed it.

I disagree. The first time I saw/used the classic iOS was a the hairdresser. He just got an iPod Touch as a gift. I played with it while the color was processing.

I was absolutely mesmerized. Totally intuitive. I ordered one as soon as I got home. It was running iOS 4.x.x.

I did the upgrade to iOS 5 on the first day. iOS 5 had so many features I wanted badly. I seldom do an update that quickly. That iPod Touch is still running iOS 5.1.1

I eventually bought another 4g iPod Touch running iOS 6.

I have not upgraded my iPod mini and it looks like I will not do so. I've tried iOS 7 on demos at Apple Store and friends iDevices in the wild.

Only one person's response to iOS7 was "I love it". ALl the others hate it. They use the word hate. Their word, not mine. Several have battery drain.

I don't care for the appearance of iOS 7 personally. I planned to buy an iPad 5 on Black Friday as a holiday gift from me to me. I don't think that will happen because I just don't want to look at the anemic iOS 7.

Many may like the new iOS. Others do not. I have been cautioned by all except the one individual NOT to upgrade.

So, I think Apple lost at least one sale due to iOS 7.

This is only one person's opinion so it carries very little weight. No need to flame. I just don't care for iOS 7. Personal preference. My dollars follow my preferences.

I wanted ipad mini 2 but I will wait also. Even if it comes with retina, I will wait.

I'm enjoying iOS 7. It's important to remember it'll only get better as the bugs are worked out and the apps are refined.

Why should people take time to learn how to use the new iOS7?
the old iOS is so intuitive and easy to use that a 4 years old can do it without learning. Isn't that the goal of a mobile OS? Steve did it. Cook destroyed it. So stupid!!!

The method for enabling/disabling the passcode hasn't changed with iOS 7. If it was intuitive or non-intuitive before, it's the same now.

Upgrade. I did, and I love all the new features and functionality.

There, that's at least two people that haven't 'cautioned' against it.

Doesn't the OS have to work in order to learn it?

The Music app is broken, playlists at times play random music from other lists. iTunes Radio locks up the app and sometimes causes the phone to reboot. Opening the music app sometimes causes the phone to reboot.

AirDrop does not work 100% of the time. Getting it to work is really hit & miss.

Color scheme ripped from Windows 8, which very few actually like the Babies R Us theme. Part of the problem is it tends to give a fuzzy/blurry look to the entire device. For light sensitive people it just causes migraines.

Safari crashes or doesn't always load video

Music videos don't play fullscreen.

Keyboard is inconsistant most of the time it just picks the letter next to the one you typed. Or if it's on a white screen the grey is to light and bleeds into the white making it difficult to see.

Battery life is Droid level anyone with a variant of the 5 model needs to carry a charger.

iMessages only work for 50% of the people.

Sounds are inconsistent and don't always play on the notification center.

Music controls on lock screen move with the screen and unlock the device unintentionally.

No unlock sounds for the blind using voice over commands.

Mail app crashes often.

You must have a really fubar'd piece of hardware running that OS. My battery is fine (5S). My kids running 4S's haven't noticed any negative impact on their battery.

I don't experience the crashes your talking about, certainly not to the level you're describing. I've had a couple of 3rd party apps crash a couple of times, but since beta 4 or 5, it's been a pretty smooth ride.

None of the other issues you list have ever hit me or my wife. I'd have to check with my kids to be sure, but neither of them have complained about anything on this list you've put together (and I guess the 7 of my family members, plus all my coworkers with iOS7, must have all lucked out to be in that 50% of functional iMessage users).

I don't like the forced album cover view of the music player, but that's not a stability issue.

I'd get your device looked at.

At first I dislike ios 7, yes it has its pros and cons but the features are nice, I prefer ios 7 features with ios 6 desing ( that would be awesome ) :D

Mail sucks as it opens in my primary inbox.
Control center sucks as it pops up when I scroll up safari screen

Apple gave you an option to prevent bizarre swiping methods causing issues.....Settings > Control Centre > Turn off Access Within Apps and you can start your swipe from a foot below the phone without it causing an issue!! ;)

We finally got some of the basics that a 1990 era basic phone has. The ability to block callers, assign custom ringtones to the default phone and text apps settings and not just to individual callers, and block text users. Things that we have been begging and complaining about since the iPhone was introduced.

We finally got the ability to quick swipe to control settings (airplane mode, wifi, and Bluetooth) for the system. This is not much different than the widget ability of the Androids that everyone has wanted for quite some time as well. We have the ability to go to the Unread All mailbox and only have to see the unread mail in the system (a big deal for those of us with several accounts on our phones) while not having to view all the other read mail in the various inboxes. I can also add a custom ringtone to each individual email account and not have to have only one tone for all mail accounts. This allows me to know which account is getting mail and know that priority need to be adjusted to check work mail when it comes it and I can wait to check others at my convenience.

As for battery life. I haven't noticed a change once I turned off the extraneous background settings that are not necessary for me, or most, and returned battery life to normal again (although I will admit to do this one has to explore the device a little and get behind the scenes. For the basic user I could see where it would be a pain. Since the OP can't even figure out how to disable the password lock, I am not surprised that battery life is worse. No disrespect intended to the OP it just shows the level of knowledge and expertise of the OP with this device, and you were not duped into adding a pass code, the option to skip that was presented just as the option to not upgrade was presented. These were not mandatory.)

I also find FaceTime Audio only calls to be a boon as well as the redesigned multitask. I realize that many will not find these useful or desirable, but then again why do their definitions of shortcomings have any more relevance or bearing than my definitions of things that are excellent additions. Everyone's needs are different.

My workflow hasn't chagned since the update. Sure it takes a littel bit getting used to, overall iOS is fundamentally the same, but with pretty colours and a nice flat design (I really hated skumorphisim) that makes the flow of using your i device must better. :)

I didn't know about either of these new features, so thanks for highlighting them. I've worked out how to add the custom mailboxes – but can't for the life of me find the setting for custom tones per email account... how do you change those? Cheers.

This is where the traversing the phone settings comes in. You wouldn't really think this was the best place for it, but go to Settings>Notification Center then scroll down and select the mail option within NC. When the screen come up you will see the adjustability for each mail account. Click on it the account and you can individually adjust the banner settings, scroll down and you can change the vibration and sounds settings for each (customize and turn on or off). Now if the GMail and BeeJive apps would just institute this customization as well I would be so much happier.

So not only are you ignorant of other cultures (UK and Canada spell certain English words differently. Technically, since England was around first, We Americans are the ones who spell it differently) but you actually felt the need to respond to somebody's post just to snidely point out a single (perceived) spelling error?

But then again, I'm the one typing an entire paragraph response to a one-word message. Good times.

This is only true if they had the word first. If it is a word (such as lots of slang words) that originated in the US, then the fact of how long they have been around is moot in determining "first" use status. ;)

Don't you ever doubt me again.

summary: Yes, some of the original skeumorphism in iDevices was not good. Game Center, for one, was perfectly horrid. But iOS7 seems to have stripped out a lot of the "Appleness" and replaced it with something I'm having a very hard time indeed warming up to. Jonny Ive, I expected more from you.

Yes and it's left Ibooks with the old design still.

Oh, I know that some spell it "centre", but I didn't think that Apple would stoop to using such an outdated provincialism.

Wasn't doubting you. Don't ever tell me what to do again!! See my quote and I was stating a general fact and nothing specific to this word, I even stated the reference to slang words. You never stated they had the word first, just that since they have been around longer we are second. I was pointing out the flaws in your logic and statement. Had you have said since they had the word first and longer than the US we are second, I would not have had to point out the flaw in your logic, but that is not what you said. You stated as I quoted and that quote referred nothing to the origin of the word or whom had it first or longer, just the absolute that since they are older than us we are second. ;)

This isn't new in iOS 7. You could do it since at least iOS 6 and I'm pretty sure even before that.

No you couldn't. You could not assign a custom ringtone, banner, and vibrate pattern for each mail account. You could only assign for the mail app as a whole and not each individual account set up within the mail app. Now I can have work with one custom tone, banner display, and pattern and a completely different pattern, banner, and tone for my home email, and different for my school alumni account yet again. This did not exist prior to ios7.

You lost. I won. Let go.

Some people are simply afraid of change, what they don't understand they fear. I've used iOS 7 since beta 4 on iPhone and iPad mini - with the exception of folders and striped lines I can't really remember much of iOS 6..

IMO - if anything needs to be addressed it's overuse of circles (dial pad + animated wallpapers), music app and folders.

I now need to enter an unlock code to start using my iDevice. During the update process I got conned into asking for this "feature", and I have (so far) not found a way to remove it. Lets be very clear: if my iPad is lost or stolen, I really don't think a 4-digit "unlock" code is going to provide any meaningful security protection.

So in your experience the ability to turn off pass codes is actually more secure than the pass code offers at the lock screen?

I'm marveling at the humorous possibilities here.

Indeed it did, had custom tone and vibration for my work and personal email.

Guess I got screwed on all 4 of my families devices as we never had the option to change per account. I wish we had been presented it but never were, just had option to change the entire mail app as a whole and not the accounts under it (neither did the friends I have that had iPhones). I wonder why that was for me, would have really enjoyed that feature. :(

Fine you win. Your so much better and more correct than everyone else. Feel better? This should make your 12th birthday something all the more to celebrate,as you were correct on the Internet.
