That is too funny. You can simply ask Siri to take you to the Passcode lock preferences. A great addition to iOS 7 in fact... I would suggest getting a Nokia 5110 or so. Dead simple these phones.

Its only intuitive because we've had six years to learn it. But if you're one of those "set in your ways and refuse to change" kind of people it will be annoying. Most of 7 works exactly the same.

Lulumink's original point was about a 4-year-old using it. And barring the use of time travel, I don't think a 4-year-old could have had 6 years' experience in anything.

Its obviously not intuitive, or I wouldn't have been forced to do a Google search in order to figure out how to turn off the wretched "feature".

I'll let you stew for a minute there about the irony of me having to do a Google search to turn off an (unasked for) security feature.

I don't delude myself that I'm any sort of tech genius. But I'll tell you I've been using iOS devices since the first iPod appeared. And I seriously dislike - in a way I've never disliked anything from Apple before - iOS 7.

All anyone can tell me is that spotlight search is somewhat better. Whoopee! Other than that we've got AirDrop, which apparently is all but unusable. And the much praised "flatter" look is giving people motion sickness.

Wow!

Apple iOS7 is horrible. I wish I'd never installed it. Its a total waste of time and effort. Why the hell should I have to go through a complicated series of maneuvers to turn off features I don't need/want/use in order to restore the (great) battery life that was a major reason I fell in love with Apple products in the first place?

If Jonny Ive is reading this, please accept this observation as a respectful plea from a (prior) fan: You screwed up.

FFS Take a chill pill.

The battery life issue.

It happened with iPhoneOS 3, iOS 4, iOS 5 and iOS 6. It got fixed.. Guess what. They'll fix it. **** happens.

The flat look does NOT give people motion sickness. Parallax backgrounds MIGHT (although I really doubt this) but guess what. That can be turned off.

And security features are a good thing. No passcode (or even TouchID) will prevent a determined thief from getting in and stealing your data, but it WILL deter the casual person who picks up your iPad when they're drunk and sends a comedy facebook status on your account. Also if someone picks up your phone or iPad and wants your data and gets the code wrong 10 times the phone/iPad gets wiped and bricked. It will require your Apple ID password for it ever to work again.

It's a slight inconvenience for you but a major ballache for the opportunist scum that try and make a dishonest living from stealing your pride and joy.

So for me those features are a good thing.

I beg your pardon? I don't need your condescension, thank you very much.

Lets be very clear here: I'm not having some sort of temper tantrum. I'm not one of those annoying Android "astroturfers" who bedevil tech sites. And Apple isn't doomed.

What I am saying is that I'm disappointed because the battery life on my 6-month old iPad has noticeably, and dramatically, declined after installing iOS 7. Apple needs to fix this, and fix this very soon. As we all know, batteries have only so many charge cycles in them, and going from ~ two charges a week to four is going to cut the usable life of my iDevices in half.

I also believe that the new "features" in iOS 7 have limited value for me. Maybe some folks find AirDrop to be be amazing. But I've known for many years how to send photos and news articles to people I know. And maybe you really do have a problem with drunken acquaintances playing "pranks" with your phone. But I don't live in that sort of world. Maybe that makes me uncool or some sort of fuddy-duddy in your eyes, but there we have it.

There are close on three pages of people complaining about various aspects of iOS 7. It would seem to me that it is those people who are pretending there isn't a serious issue with iOS 7 are the ones who are in need of a reality check.

No different than any prior update.

Issues? Yes. SERIOUS issues? Hardly, at least not for the majority of users (again, no different than any prior update).
