So I'm calling it:

iPad2 for $499 next month.
iPad3 this fall For $649.

MacBook line is refreshed (Pro name dropped) Q4 or Q1 2012 with the 16GB SSD for OS, higher resolutions (see 13 MBP ugh!), and a new design.

I think I'll put my credit card away for now =)

it sounds weak cause your thinking of that amount on your computer. This is a phone, individual apps generally only take 75-100Mb's. Thats true on desktops too even.
As well, as long as Apple still prevents full multi-tasking, ie. multiple full programs running at the same time rather than just a few specific processes, 1GB isn't really necessary. 256MB was limiting in causing Safari to reload pages between tabs, but 512MB should be enough to solve that.

I'd be interested to see whether iOS 5 will be a major revamp. Certainly notifications is due for a change, but certainly a UI refresh could be useful seeing the increased competition from Android, WP7, and WebOS.

It'll also be interesting to see whether the iPad will continue to be out of sync with iOS 5's introduction. The reason for the original iPad being out of sync was because the iPad was a secret so the iOS 4 team didn't know about it. But now that shouldn't be the case anymore with iOS 5.

Sigh

im totally with you on being skeptical about what this guy says. But he does have a point, I hadnt noticed it but he is right one side is very clearly more dotted than the other. Thats definitely not a printing error. So idk, although I find retina iPad 2 very unlikely.

Very interesting. Now why would they do a thing like that? ;)

I get the FaceTime camera, but why the other one?

Who is using something the size of an iPad to take pictures?

Enagdget is doing backflips on their previous predictions, so why should we listen to them now..?

Man, I should start my own 'predicition' website - I couldn't do any worse.

At least the 2nd is not too far away; we shall see.

Well basically what they had heard was that it was going to include an SD slot and high res screen, that might of well been true at the time and with these "engineering difficulties" that became present at the last moment those features had to be scrapped and they're just reporting on that. Don't see anything wrong.

iOS 5 ?

So what are the rumored features for iOS 5?

Resolution independent UI and app APIs?

Multi-core support?

Telepathic retinal 4D projection?

The RAM on the existing iPad was only revealed with a thorough ifixit teardown after release. How is their source with all these other "vague" details so sure, anyway?

In other news, I predict that endgadget's most accurate iPad 2 prediction will occur around March 3rd, or so. :)

Did anyone read their cream puff Xoom review anyway? I think Motorola slipped'em an extra fin to put this nugget of non-news out there today.

My friend is letting me borrow his iPad for the night to update the OS and let me tell you this thing is so much more than i expected. I think a RAM upgrade and a camera would make this thing perfect. A retina display would be pretty sweet but as i keep using this thing i keep wanting one more and more. The bad thing is i was one of the skeptics when it was introduced. Apple has a way of making products special like no other company can.

iOS 5 already?

Woot! Can't wait! :)

This could also be related to FaceTime, as you can switch between the cameras. That allows you to show the other person what you're looking at.

It can also be used for Augmented Reality apps.

And yeah, a big screen to take pictures could be a welcomed addition for people with somewhat impaired vision.

1 GB of RAM would consume more power. Most iOS games are 75MB or less, the rest of the RAM would just be wasting battery life.

What would be the battery hit? I don't imagine it being too great. Most laptops have 4GB.... The Xoom has 1GB as does the Atrix and those are supposed to be equivalent to the iPhone/iPad in battery (maybe a little under.. But it's also dual core)

Same here! I'm interested to know if they actually got around to those notifications yet ;)

I don't understand how people think there is going to be an Ipad 3 released later this year. It wouldn't make sense for Apple to spend money on the engineering changes, manufacturing process, etc just for a couple month roll-out.

I think this is going to be the same specification until early next year.

How are they so sure about no retina display? I agree it's unlikely, but didn't we actually HAVE an iPhone 4 before its release and still didn't know about the retina display?

Translation:

iPad as it originally should have been is being announced next week.

I could care less about the iPad, i'm just looking forward to some iOS 5 and iPhone 5 news!
iOS 5 to be previewed? I like the sound of that.

no iPhone 5 no iOS 5. Please don't start adding new rumors on this one. this is just the iPad 2 (the same machine you own today with a camera..... that's it.) worry for the iPad 3... (it will be the revision B) ok?

No, not ok. No one said anything about iPhone 5. iOS 5 does not = iPhone 5. It makes sense to do the iOS 5 preview now so people don't have to come back a month later for an iOS 5 preview.

Apple is really making it easy for me to not buy their products. 512mb ram is not enough for ipad 2. I could barely open 3 tabs on safari without a constant refresh on the first ipad. Then they gimp the 13" macbook pro with that awful screen resolution. At least I saved $2,000 today :)

You can have 1GB of RAM, or you could have a decent battery life.

You cannot have both.

What?! Ram hardly affects battery life!

Thunderbolt in new iPad

I think there will be a thunderbolt on the new iPad as it takes to long to sync a 64GB iPad and they will just increase in size on future revisions to 128GB, 256GB etc.

At first I wondered why thunderbolt doesn't use a USB socket and it dawned upon me because its too big, just like the HDMI socket. Thunderbolt is a dame small socket. I think the iPod connector will be gone soon.
