Doesnt anybody else notice that one side has few dots (pixels) while the other side has double the dots?!? I think we will get the retina display still!

What would be the battery hit? I don't imagine it being too great. Most laptops have 4GB.... The Xoom has 1GB as does the Atrix and those are supposed to be equivalent to the iPhone/iPad in battery (maybe a little under.. But it's also dual core)

Negligible effect - may even be offset completely with the new LPDDR2 memory.

I hope apple does more than a better processor,ram and cameras. To the general consumer that won't be enuff, everyone will still buy it including myself but you get the general idea. I am crossing my fingers for a preview of iOS 5, and a developer beta.

So what App is everyone running that 1GB of RAM is so critical? The vast majority of Apps are less than 100 MB for the entire App. Is someone running CS5 out there and I didn't see it available on the App Store? 1/2 GB will hold an entire episode of South Park in RAM

im totally with you on being skeptical about what this guy says. But he does have a point, I hadnt noticed it but he is right one side is very clearly more dotted than the other. Thats definitely not a printing error. So idk, although I find retina iPad 2 very unlikely.

What, was Apple supposed to over-engineer this brand new product that most in the media and even on this very website swore would be an utter failure?

Sure, that hog Honeycomb needs a ton of resources and a gig of RAM just to be buggy and inadequate at launch (read the reviews) but did Motorola or Samsung have any vision or take any risk with their me-too tablets? Out of proportion specs and not much else seems to be their main selling point, as usual. That's worked out well for them so far, hasn't it?

For the record, nobody outside of the 2% geek community is disappointed with the iPad's performance. People are still being blown away by it at this very moment, and the customer satisfaction ratings have been consistently through the roof.

A moderate spec bump sounds about right. That brings it in line with the competition, while leaving room for a major refresh in the fall (wasn't there a rumor about Apple wanting to shift iPad release to fall? Makes sense as the iPhone would then be first in the release cycle, followed by iPad and iPods.).

I think this release will be more about iOS 5, which I wager will be a Honeycomb-esque tablet oriented redesign. It's badly needed. The ipad is great, but a big software update would make it so much more.

At least the 2nd is not too far away; we shall see.

it will still be the best selling tablet, if for no other reason than it has a $500 entry point. The Xoom is awesome but with an $800 entry point it'll keep all but the richer and devote fans from experiencing a great tablet, when they can get similar features, functionality and design quality for less with the iPad.

Incremental or not, this upgrade will make a great product even greater.
