It would once again piss me off if the iPad has less RAM than the new iPhone. The iPad is a bigger device that is suppose to do MORE but is crippled with less RAM.

You can have 1GB of RAM, or you could have a decent battery life.

You cannot have both.

I'm guessing that you have absolutely no idea wtf you're talking about. RAM barely uses any battery, I don't think anyone will be too concerned with 5 minutes less battery life.

I do.

As do I, a rear facing camera especially a good quality one would be very useful.

Good point.

I don't understand how people think there is going to be an Ipad 3 released later this year. It wouldn't make sense for Apple to spend money on the engineering changes, manufacturing process, etc just for a couple month roll-out.

I think this is going to be the same specification until early next year.

People are pissing all over themselves about the iPad3. Basing way to much on a single comment made by Grubber. Just another headline whore that said he was just guessing and fools act like it is gospel truth. Sad.

I'm just pumped for iOS 5. Hoping for some more customization. I'll get an iPad whenever they release one with a retina or at least much higher res display, I don't really need one so might as well wait until there's a big update.

Apple is really making it easy for me to not buy their products. 512mb ram is not enough for ipad 2. I could barely open 3 tabs on safari without a constant refresh on the first ipad. Then they gimp the 13" macbook pro with that awful screen resolution. At least I saved $2,000 today :)

Good for you. Go buy a xoom or playbook.

Throw out the 30 pin dock connector and make it a MagSafe connector instead... Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to MagSafe connector for fast and efficient syncing and charging.

A faster processor and more RAM? Way to go out on a limb there.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Ask a bum on the street and they could have told you the same thing. In fact, they could probably do one better and say that it's thinner.

I hope apple does more than a better processor, ram and cameras. To the general consumer that won't be enuff, everyone will still buy it including myself but you get the general idea. I am crossing my fingers for a preview of iOS 5, and a developer beta.

Yeah, because they are selling millions and millions without that stuff. The average consumer doesn't care about processor and RAM and cores and GPUs. They want a device that will work and be easy to use. So, they will still buy millions and millions of the next iPad.

The first iPad only had 256MB, so it's very understandable that performance was an issue. The iPhone 4 has had 512, and it seems to do just fine.

Personally if the rear facing camera is not one of a decent high quality it's not worth having. I like the fact of a rear facing camera regardless but it would be nice to have one of at least 5mp (iPhone quality). Hopefully the front is HD lol

wow a newer cpu, ram, and a camera...these guys at engadget (and macrumors for relaying this) must be geniuses of foresight and judgement. Who could have thunk that these were going to be in the next ipad...

a nice marketing ploy for the ipad 2 would be "hey, we're doubling everything we had from the ipad for the ipad 2."

i could definitely live with that. double the resolution, double the speed, double the battery life (haha, that'd be INSANE), and half the weight.

that would be a cool marketing idea if possible, but unlikely.

Yeah, um, no.

More RAM doesn't really significantly impact the battery life. The biggest hit, by far, is the display. The 2nd, 'though a much smaller percent, is the CPU. I have no idea which comes next, the RAM or the SSD, but they're both minuscule comparatively.

RAM barely uses any battery, I don't think anyone will be too concerned with 5 minutes less battery life.

On a laptop with a fan and a huge battery, yes. On a low power portable device with a small battery, refreshing all those billions of DRAM transistor cells can significantly eat standby battery life. Maybe several days shorter, not 5 minutes. Or do you want to give up instant-on instead?

I under stand that and I said that, I'm just saying that the regular consumer won't know the difference. I said that "everyone will still buy it" . Just that the cameras will be the only thing to average consumer that seems different

I don't see Apple announcing iOS 5 at the event. iOS 5 will not ship in time for iPad 2, so they will not want to give consumers any hint that they should wait to purchase iPad 2.

My event prediction:

1. iPad 2
2. iOS 4.3 touted/previewed including demos from major AirPlay-ready app developers
3. MobileMe becomes free

iOS 5 will be previewed at a developer event at Cupertino in Late March or April (after iPad 2 ships) just like all the years before. I wouldn't be surprised if iPad 2 ships on March 18 and Apple holds an iOS SDK event the last week of March.

What do you people want!!!

So Apple goes nuts and packs the iPad2 with a super high-res display, 1 Gig of Ram, 256 Gigs of flash, memory card reader, 2 cameras and the freak'in kitchen sink.

People are then going to complain about how heavy it is, how expensive it is and how the battery life sucks.

WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE FREAKING WANT!!!

0% chance ...

Apple would not hold an event for 512 MB and a camera on the next iPad ... there is more to iPad II.

Hello iPad 1.5

There is something wrong when a 8 month old iPhone has as much RAM as a new iPad model , or shall I say minor revision.
