I ordered mine yesterday at 12:16pm pacific time and was reassured by the sales person that it would ship today. However, the status still says "backordered". I just called B&H and the guy tells me that he can't do anything to change it. BTW I got the 16GB Black WI-FI version which was supposed to be still in stock. I also requested 2 day shipping. Am I being played here?

It was probably just a case of their online inventory system not updating quick enough. They were probably getting tons of calls for iPad orders, I know I had to wait on hold for awhile.

Just called back and now they say it won't ship out until 2-4 weeks! Absolutely crazy. I ordered before a lot of people here who already had their iPads shipped out.

That sucks, but keep in mind that you should only compare your order time with someone that ordered the exact same model as you. Also 3:16 EST was pretty late to the game, and per a post at 3:19PM EST a user reported they were Sold Out of everything when he/she called.

2-4 weeks sounds more realistic, I think they do not know when they are getting more. When I ordered this morning the guy said it should ship out this week or early next week. I'm not going to cancel as it seems everyone by now is backordered.

I walked into their NYC store this morning at 9 AM EST. The guy took my order because they had none in stock. I actually was able to see the guys inventory system and all models are out of stock. The guy who took my order said they may receive stock this afternoon but he wasn't sure. All their 400+ stock just flew in few mins on Sunday. They were shocked....so who ever has their ordered in Backordered status, will have to wait a bit, may be until later this week.

Everyone relax. None of our orders shipped out yesterday. UPS and FedEx do not pick up on Sunday. A tracking number was generated by BH when they prepared your order for shipping. Then your package sat there at BH until some time today, when UPS or FedEx will pick them up for shipping. So if you ordered overnight you will receive it tomorrow.

I saw UPS & FedEx trucks waiting at the B&H dock this morning at 9 AM. so i think most of them shipped this morning.

I think they are just expecting inventory soon. However they can't seem to guarantee so they prefer to say 2-4 weeks. I'm pretty sure it will arrive way before that. Just my observation based on the couple of times I spoke to them for my orders.
Goodluck

Love B&H - order nearly all of my photog from them. Was on the phone on Saturday with John discussing my 1dsmk3 order and he mentioned that they received an initial stock of Pad #2's and did not expect to get more for a couple of weeks so 2 to 4 sounds about right. I don't think B&H is in the circle of stores that are being restocked daily with Ipads.

Wanted to thank original poster form this info. Ordered Sunday and shipped today. Plus no tax!

Thanks.

Ordering the 16GB they showed in stock is one thing. Ordering something they didn't have in stock but said they would have today is another. My 32GB iPad isn't showing as shipping but my card has been charged. If it doesn't ship by tomorrow then the sales guy will have lied to me and I won't be very surprised. I've ordered many thousands of dollars worth of equipment from them over the years but they are far from perfect. Search on "B&H photo complaints" on Google before you tell everyone what they should think.

I still can't believe people are skeptical ordering from B&H. They do SO much business and their store in the city is actually awesome. I order from there all the time.

Anyone who is still worried about ordering from them - just stop. I've never had an issue with them and their prices + no sales tax outside of NYC is awesome.

Hope this helps some people who are contemplating ordering.

I've spent at least 15k in the past 3-4 years with them without a single issue and I've even had to go through a process or exchange and return.

Google ANY retailers complains and you'll find something. No retailer is perfect.

Obviously a 9.83/10 is not up to your standards for ordering online.

Not even amazon has a rating like them.

So relax. You're iPad will arrive. Just because your order wasn't sent out or prOcessing doesn't mean anything. If you didn't notice every retailer getting iPad orders is overwhelmed. Their usual shipping cut off is around now anyway so you should have tracking later tonight.

To those who had the "New Order Processing" status all last night, I finally got my tracking number just a few minutes ago. Hopefully you'll get yours soon too.

Don't get too upset about it guys. When I talked to the B&H sales reps on Thursday afternoon, they warned me that you better call on Sunday at 10:00am EST sharp because they expected the iPads to sell out very quickly. I really thought they would be gone in 10 minutes or less. It's amazing they lasted as long as they did.

The B&H deal has been discussed on this forum for over a week now. There was plenty of time to prepare and call early. I would have called at 9:59am EST. I had my alarm set (6:50am PST) but I only passed on this because Apple is having obvious quality control issues with a large number of their units and I would prefer not having to return an online order. Perhaps Apple can fix the rampant backlight bleed issue in the next couple weeks. So in the end, it should work out for all of us.

I guess you'll be the only one to get the shaft. That's sad bro. I'd worry if I were you. Seriously.

Just got an email telling me my iPad shipped! Ordered at 10:10AM PST for reference.

Worry about what? Getting ripped off? Clearly you have no idea who B&H are. Maybe you should just sit this one out. If Darwin doesn't get a shipping notice, he can cancel his order for a refund, plain and simple.

I was being sarcastic. Not so much I guess.

Seriously though - I've purchased 3 LCD TVs from this company in the past, and a first gen Apple TV, and NEVER had a problem. They are legit.

This sounds like a pretty good deal if they get more in this week! My only concern is ordering online now, with the backlight bleeding issue being somewhat common (it seems). I'd love to just order one online and be done with it, but with all the bleeding concerns now, I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of shipping something back off to New York?

Is anyone else worried about this? Normally I wouldn't care and I online shop constantly (almost exclusively), but seems like there could be a good chance you have to return it. I'm thinking the best way is to get in line again for an in-person purchase at an apple store (like I did on Saturday), so you can open and test the iPad 2 right there and look for bleeding, and if it does, don't take it and ask for them to bring out another, etc.

Anyone else concerned about this for online ordering?

Since B&H is an authorized retailer, I would imagine any issues you face with bleeding could be handled by taking it to a local Apple Store. I am not up to speed on the issue, so not sure how it is being handled by Cupertino.

Nope. I read their return/exchange policy before I ordered. As long as you follow their criteria (which is pretty standard) then there is no restocking fee for returns. The only hassle is the sending back, with gas prices the way they are it's cheaper to ship something than it is to drive to my closest Apple store. :p

This is the exact reason why I didn't order one on Sunday morning, no matter how much I wanted to.
