My exchange with B&H today via chat
So I had a chat session with B&H just now and got a "place in line" status update for the first time. I think the CSR looked it up for me because I called him out on the attitude with me since he thought I had called in earlier for status on the same order. Here is the exchange. It looks like they CAN tell you where you are in line. Either that or he made it up and said I would be in the same position if I went to J&R.
T Strong : Any new shipments come in today for IPad2?
Shneur O: Hello T Strong. My name is Shneur, and I will be glad to assist you. Please give me a few moments to begin working on your inquiry.
Shneur O: sorry, no they have not. I see that you called about this 3 hours ago.
T Strong: I called to confirm that the shipment would go out and not wait for the cover. Is that an issue that I called earlier?
Shneur O: I am sorry, you asked about the cover earlier. I thought you asked about the Ipad and you were asking again about this item
T Strong: I know you guys are getting a lot of calls but you also have my money already so if I call or send a chat a couple of times a day then that is the price that your company pays for taking the money up front in my opinion

T Strong: J&R has told me today that if I place an order with them for this model that I would be #7 in line. Is there any way you can give me an approximation of where my place in line is on this order? It is for a less popular model (Verizon, 32 Gig) so I would hope that my order from 3/15 would be close to the top of the list at this time.
Shneur O: you are #7 in line for this item. I would assume when the next shipment comes in, if there are 7 or more in the shipment, you will get yours
T Strong: Well that is the first time I have been able to get a "place in line" status to date so thank you for that information.
