i'm hoping that camera rumor is a fake planted by apple.

planning to get a tablet for skype and if the ipad 2 has terrible cameras i definitely wont get one.

i don't understand why people have a problem with the ipads current resolution.
have you tried watching HD video on it?
or playing HD games on it?
The current resolution is great! a doubled resolution would be unbelievable...... or magical

Have you tried reading a book on it?

Have you tried reading a scanned legal or A4 sheet of paper on it?

Devices like the iPad promise a lot in reducing reliance on paper. At the moment it's just too low resolution to do this though.

I don't think watching video content is the problem people are talking about, but rather the aesthetic appeal like the smoothness of text as seen on the iPhone 4, especially when apple is placing emphasis on reading ebooks, emails, web browsing etc.

iPad 1 + Camera for webchat = Purchase.

Lighter is a huge plus, aside from not having a camera, the weight was one thing that really shocked me.

Really believing the no res upgrade at this point... ah well...

Can't understand why it might be getting the iPod Touch's cameras... Why not the iPhone's?

Apple likes to have their products thin. Maybe they think the iPhone 4 is too thick and the tech doesn't allow them to get the same quality in a thinner design. Or in the case of the iPad 2 they want to save a few dollars.

Apple gets away with these shortcuts because they integrate the hardware and software so well and Apple fans buy anything they make. Microsoft fell too far behind and Google is maybe a year and a half behind. If I was Apple I would at least try a little bit harder.

you know this is just a rumor right??? a very unreliable one at that with next to no sources

I always laugh at the analyst predictions that come from supply chain "information". I think probably less than 1% of the predictions I've seen on here from analysts have even come remotely close to true.

I hope that it's not the case, but Tim Cook will probably give us iPhone 3GS / iPod Touch 3rd Gen like spec bump upgrades like what he did in 2009......Mr. Cook, show us some innovation, please!

Because of the tapered sharper edge- the iPod Touch camera fits the space. Plus Apple still regards the iPhone as it's premium level product so it has a better camera more memory better screen etc and probably always will.

I see, but I disagree. I use my ipad several hours a day for web and email. and it is more than I could ask for.

I guess most people on this forum are spoiled with high resolution iphones Macbooks and other Macs

Well... I think I'm excited for the iPad 2. I've wanted an iPad since day 1, but just never took the plunge and bought one. I wanted one for Christmas...but my girlfriend got a ridiculously good deal on a Dell Mini 10 (It retails for $499.99 even still to this day at Best Buy....and we got it from a friend, brand new and sealed in the box for $150...so I really couldn't pass that up) ;)

Also, as a tech junkie...common sense tells me that a new version of the iPad was going to be available within 2-3 months following Christmas anyhow...so that steered me away from it at that particular time.

I don't really know what to expect, or what I want from it necessarily. I mean, obviously a camera (and most likely 2 of them) seems like a no brainer IMO because of FaceTime showing up on everything Apple, and a welcomed upgrade. And of course, a faster processor and a boost of RAM.

With all the marketing dollars spent on the iPhone's "retina display"...it would also lead someone to make a prediction that the next iteration of the iPad would have SOME SORT of new technology in the screen. (Fingers crossed)

So I dunno.....I'm a Samsung Galaxy S user right now (Epic 4g)... and I've been pretty satisfied with its build quality and gorgeous AMOLED display. I've been looking at the Galaxy Tab, but I am holding out for an upgrade for that as well (See above....gorgeous AMOLED display ;))

Sigh... decisions decisions... I truly cannot decide if I'm gonna go with some sort of unannounced, unreleased Android tablet...or the iPad 2. I'm going to hold off until the iPad 2 is announced and we have an OFFICIAL spec sheet before I make my decision.

Please Apple....blow me away so I can give you my business. I REALLY want to. :D

This is just embarrassing. The newly announced PSP2 thats shipping this year is going to have:

Quad Core A9 CPU
Top of the line Quad Core SGX GPU with raised clock speeds
512/1GB of RAM
GPS
Six axis motion sensing system
Front 5 inch OLED touch capacitive display
Back capacitive touch pad
Front and back camera's
more

And its expected to be around $300 while the iPad is going to cost $200 bucks more, and is much less powerful. $200 bucks more for a big screen that is still the same resolution? Thats all I wanted and I was willing to pay the Apple tax for it!

for some reason these rumors sounds reasonably legit to me. and pretty awesome. i'm stoked. reading this made me at first feel not too bummed about the lack of resolution increase. but still, that would be great if they did, but seems more and more unlikely every day.

...the next iPad will use a Cortex A9 dual core processor running at 1.2GHz, as well as Imagination Technologies' SGX 543 dual-core GPU. The iPad 2's RAM will also see a much needed boost to 512MB, equal to the iPhone 4.

OK. can someone pleeease explain to me what this stuff means? what exactly does a dual core processor do compared to what the ipad has now? and same with the dual core GPU? same with 512 compared to the 256 now? i really am bad at this tech stuff and don't really know waht this means in a general sense... thanks.

anti-reflective...

Maybe Apple will finally reach the 90's where anti-glare was the solution for glare screens.

this was talking about the back camera, the facetime camera will be the same as in the iphone 4 and itouch 4g

I don't think you really said anything at all there,...Maybe a price quote???

What are you saying?

****EDIT*** Oh , and if you think that the main reason people look at Mac is Software and not Mac Hardware like the Uni-body and so forth....Well,...you are giving Apple buyers too much credit. Most people get Mac's because Mac's are pretty and shiny and they are too dumb to figure out how to use a real Computer....that's why Ubuntu isn't the one on top...

That people will compare?

You bet your ass they will.

And thats the original point.

I fail to see yours

You fail to see because you are only closed minded. This is iOS we are talking about. I am not giving apple buyers any credit. Xoom is priced at 700-800 dollars. iPad base price is 499 dollars. It's the apps that will drive iPad and tablet sales. That's all I said. If you think people are dumb to figure out, then feel free to think that way. But, that's what the market is going. Apple shares and sales are sky rocketing.

the psp2 will cost about $800-$1000
but the carrier will pay for most of it

Off topic: Why isn't there any Macbook Pro news?
your on the wrong site =)

No. Not all models are going to have 3G. Sony has apologized for this misunderstanding that wasn't made clear during the presentation.

Please save me from PSP2 vs iPad battle. PSP2 price is not announced, period. I don't see where sony has announced that PSP 2 will cost less than 300 dollars.
PSP2 will cost 350-399 dollars. Sony only confirmed that it will cost less than 599 dollars. They never ever said it will cost 300 dollars. You are dreaming.

Why embarrassing? What do you want to do on the iPad that you can't at the moment? The iPad is about more than just hardware!

How about games... are you going to be happy going back to paying 30 bucks for a PSP2 cartridge?
