$25 is a bargain... lol
Sure beats the $300 I paid one of my students.

Oh, ok - well, just let it sit there and look pretty.

Are there are a lot of good apps/utilization for doctors on the iPad?

My smartcover has shipped... its going to be a real teaser.. dammit!

Why the **** are they paying for overnight shipping on a smartcover and not the iPad?

Well, it says it's shipping Fed Ex Ground. It just happens to take one day to get to you from where Apple is shipping it.

A few. None that I personally utilize in my practice. For me, my iPad serves as a luxury device. I know of some physicians that keep a few iPads around the clinic purely for image.

You're right- I must've been too excited! I still don't get why the iPad just doesn't ship with it, I mean, is it not coming from the same facility as the Smartcover?

I just walked by the Fifth Avenue store in NYC, and there are AT LEAST 200 to 300 people already lined up. The snaking pens on the part of the plaza to the south of the Cube were already full, and the line was starting to snake back on to the sidewalk. Just wait until people start getting out of work at the end of the day. At least at the Cube, I think we will be seeing a pretty serious line.

My experience with 5th ave store is about 2 hours after they let people in, you can walk in. So best bet is to go around 6:30 or 7. if line is still snaked, then better off waiting until next day.

meatpacking store sometimes a bit better but they have 15-20% less inventory according to employees

Things like this make you wonder why they expanded rather than unified the product line. There are now 18 distinct models of iPad 2 (three wifi, three CDMA 3G, three GSM 3G, each in black and white), up from six distinct models of iPad 1. That's why there are supply constraints.

Hopefully they'll fix this with iPad 3. There should be six models of iPad at most: all 3G capable, using a universal 3G antenna, in the three storage capacities, in both black and white.

(Though really, I think there should just be one color. It makes it more iconic.)

LOL what time did you order? I did mine around 4:30 Eastern Time I think (it was in the middle of the night for me so I barely remember lol)

I ordered at 4:02am EST. I really hope the iPad is going to ship and arrive tomorrow. I really can't imagine Apple shipping a cover with no iPad.

Most online orders will arrive between the 18 and 25, that said looks like Apple is sending all their immediate inventory to the retail stores.
Bummer, I would think if you placed the order at 1am you would be the first ones to get next week no later than Tuesday.
Now my question is if you avoid the crowds today, how will the availability be next week to walk in the store or we if will have the same shortage as the iPad1?

IMO I highly doubt that they are going to say "online orders you're screwed". And send ALL their stock to the stores.

Neither can I- and I found it bizarre that they charged my debit for two separate orders even though it was all one order

of course they won't say anything like that. But looking at the online shipping times it seems to be the case. Unless some lots of folks start receiving it tomorrow or Monday.

It will probably be a couple of months before you are able to just waltz into a Best Buy off the street and get an iPad 2 :(

IMO, I think we just need to give Apple some time to update their estimations and shipping times. I think by tomorrow morning we should have a good idea of where it is at.

Since Apple has already charged our accounts (I bought mine 4:01am EST) and since consumer businesses typically operate revenue recognition after a good is shipped/ready to be shipped, I think we should being seeing our iPad's before March 18th...but that is just my unqualified opinion. Crazier things have happened.

I got charged 2 separate times too. Once for the price of the smart cover and once for the iPad + dock.

Mine is shipped but arriving on 16th March??? (Chicago)

Ordered at 1:36AM PST...

I went through my corporate portal to the Apple site, because we're supposed to get "up to" 17% off Apple products. When I got there, I saw that I'd only receive a 2% discount, which for a $499 iPad is a whopping $10.

Then I saw the delayed ship dates, and said to myself, there's an Apple store a mile away from me and hopefully it won't be a madhouse when I get off work. It wasn't for the iPhone 4 launch, relative the the suburban stores.

Now I want to know what I get 17% off of...mice and bumper stickers?
