iPad 2 Shipping Estimates for U.S. Online Orders Improve to 3-4 Weeks

Dude - this is good. Today, mine went from "Not Yet Shipped" to "Prepared for Shipment." I'm in the same timeframe as you.
 
At local BestBuy and Targets, you can already see more and more availability every day.

Granted, you still may not get one but your chances improve every few days.

I mis-counted 5 weeks.

And the order date just changed to 21st April that is still 4 weeks and 2 days from order date. Ironically though because of the weekend it is due to be delivered on the 26th, so 2 days earlier than before....lol

Yesterday I checked the inventory tracker and it turned out my local Best Buy had stock on the 16GB WiFi black, just as I ordered it from Apple. Literally 15 minutes later I was up and running with my new gear & cancelled my Apple store order. No waiting in line or wasting any more time with the whole process. Why wait if you can grab it locally?

I'll have to check this out... I can't find one here locally anywhere and the people at the counters have no clue when stock is coming again. Best I got was check back or take a look at the shinny new Xooms in stock! :p
 
This just in: orders will ship in the order they were received despite the 4-5 vs. 3-4 week estimates. Meaning, if you ordered an iPad 2 yesterday & received a 4-5 week ship estimate, you will get yours before someone who just now ordered one and received a 3-4 week estimate.

This also just in: estimates are not exact.

3 hrs ago my ship date was the same, now it's updated with a ship date 4 days earlier!! Maybe this will get even better as days go by :) (still 4 weeks out, but better than before!)
 
Apple is doing it on purpose

Come on guys!

Apple is not doing this for the first time! They know exactly what they are doing by maintaining a healthy level of tension regarding stock, shipping, etc. It's all part of the game!

Now it says April 21st...which makes it 4 3/7 weeks after I ordered it. That still sounds like 4 to 5 weeks to me.

Ordered on 3/18, and original arrival date was 4/27. Within the last hour it updated to an arrival date of 4/26. Woo hoo, any movement in the right direction is appreciated.
 
its seems like more stock is getting to the stores now, My wife just got one at Best Buy and there was no fanfare or lines they had more in the back, she had to ask. Maybe Ship dates will get better as time goes
 
First In MacConnection Queue For Black 64 AT&T Free 2-Day Ship Arrived This Morning

I placed my order @ 5pm ET when they started taking orders and their first batch of this model arrived Tuesday and to me today. So 13 days from launch. Not bad and I saved $87 sales tax including the digital AV HDMI adapter which they expect to get some of tomorrow. :)
 
Ship date updated!

I ordered last night and had an estimated ship date of April 27th. Now it will ship on April 21st! I'm in no hurry though, it's for a friends May birthday.

There are two things that will help us receive our orders. (1) Apple is speeding up production and getting caught up on demand. (2) A lot of people that that originally placed orders are buying via retail and canceling their orders, which pushes up our processing time.

Please people out there, if you are one of those lucky ones, and don't have intention to keep online order, please cancel.
